  1. No testing. We are in South Texas, and I have had allergies forever. His pediatrician said that may be the cause, so we decided to go ahead and try it. It worked like a charm. Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk
  2. We do school and speech therapy appts. Monday through Thursday. The boys do their chores (picking up toys, straightening their rooms, etc.) while I cook dinner. Fridays we do something fun (park, pool, splash pad, etc) in the morning, then run errands. Home by 1:30, toddler naps while 5 year old and I clean house. Weekends are reserved for fun, relaxing, or projects around the house. Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk
  3. I get congestion, but my son usually just gets the headache. For a while, I was worried it was his vision. After we had it checked, we started him on children's Zyrtec and the problem went away completely. Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk
  4. It might be allergy related. My son and I both get headaches with seasonal allergies. Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk
  5. My son is responding well to Reading Lessons through Literature. He also plays Teach Your Monster to Read, and we have a Super Why board game. Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk

  7. I would not tell. That would be like punishing your son for doing the right thing. Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk
  8. Phonics for my kinder. Everything else we can do with little brother around (on top of, or right smack in the middle) but he needs quiet and concentration for phonics and handwriting. Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk
  9. I am a school supplies junkie. Ever since I was a kid, there's something exciting about school and office supplies. So really, any of it is fun for me. My DS 5 couldn't care less about the promise a blank spiral notebook holds. He did, however, get excited about a new set of paints and his Ticonderoga pencils. Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk
  10. My son is 5.5 and in kinder. He wants to know how to read, but doesn't really want to work to learn. So we do about 5 mins a day, and stop when he seems frustrated or uninterested. I'm not pushing it now, but eventually I will. Reading is not an easy thing to learn, and he will be required to work at it next year. Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk
  11. My 2.5 year old is interested but I don't want to deal with the accidents either. So we're potty training AND he's staying in diapers. If he tells me he needs to go, I let him go sit. I ask him maybe once an hour or so. He is at the point where he knows if he needs to go, but often sits to no avail and immediately goes afterward. I'm not putting away the diapers until he gets much better. Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk
  12. Make the schedule. Pick a few priority things to use as your anchors. I have a 2 year old and a Kindergartener. Our schedule looks like this: 9 am: Breakfast/Memory work/Read Aloud (anchor) After that, we do Logic and thinking skills type stuff. Then take a break. 10:30- Math (anchor) Followed by geography/history 12- snack/free time 1:30-toddler nap/phonics (anchor Science once a week in the afternoon. If we get off track or don't get to the in-between subjects, I don't stress about it. I just use those anchor times to bring us back to focus. Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk
  13. Maybe one of the Klutz books. I'm doing this one with my son this year. It's pretty cool. They also have one called crazy contraptions or something like that. You might have to cut and paste this, I can't hyperlink from my phone. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/0545703301/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1469062287&sr=8-5&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=lego+simple+machines&dpPl=1&dpID=61erxY1q51L&ref=plSrch Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk Edited: oh hey, the link did work!
  14. We got one of those preschool cubby shelves at a garage sale. It is completely full of Lego's. It is also set up at a right angle from the wall so it blocks my view of the room. All toy mess must be hidden by said bookshelf. If the mess migrates into my line of sight and is left out past chore time, then the toys are mine. Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk
  15. I got it all cleaned up. A couple coloring books got trashed but nothing too important. Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk
  16. So, I was driving my 5 year old son to Vacation Bible School. Son: Mom, can I drink this chocolate milk? Me: No! You left that in here yesterday. It has been sitting all day in the south Texas sun. Do Not Drink That. Son: Oh. Okay *throws the lidless bottle of spoiled milk into the floorboard* !?!?!?! What on Earth was this boy thinking? That would not be acceptable with any beverage, and the fact that it was milk makes it a million times worse. 5 year old boy...free to a good home. Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk
  17. I have alarms set to remind me to feed my children. Otherwise I would forget and we would go all day without food. Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk
  18. My brother is a police officer. Last week he had to skip going on patrol to write a public service announcement for Pokemon Go players. "Do not walk into traffic to catch Pokemon!" And it's not just kids, grown people are getting hit by cars. Ridiculous. Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk
  19. I am not a good housekeeper. But the few things that help me keep our house in semi-decent condition are: 1. If they are old enough to pull all of the toys out, then they are old enough to put them all back. (It takes some hand-holding at first, but both my 2 and 5 year old can put their toys away without my help now) 2. Set 3 priority tasks. Mine are 1) everything off the floor. 2) no overflowing dishes. I don't care if a few things are sitting in there, but if they don't fit in the sink it's a problem. 3) table cleared and wiped down. Everything else can wait until tomorrow. Or next week. Or when these monsters move out. It'll be okay. Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk
  20. Oh my goodness. He's 6. He probably genuinely doesn't understand why he's not allowed on that ride. Height & weight safety requirements are very arbitrary and seem silly to kids. I wouldn't stress over him expressing disappointment. If he had made a scene, that would be a different story. Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk
  21. Man, I know how you feel. I am a month and a half into kinder with my oldest, and have already changed our phonics program and decided that the math will do for now, but next year I am doing something else. We got a custom Timber doodle kit, which uses Math-U-See. It's a solid program that covers the material sufficiently, but my son is so bored with it. It does nothing to spark his interest. The Reading Lesson is the phonics that came with it, but the book irked me to no end. In an attempt to allow the child to focus solely on the phonics, they don't capitalize letters and some sentences are incomplete. I believe a big part of learning proper English is to be consistently exposed to good writing. So we switched to Reading Lessons through Literature and we both like it a lot. The rest of the kit has been a perfect fit though Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk
  22. Interestingly enough, visits with my in-laws are super chill. It's my own parents that cause me to break out in hives. Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk
  23. I bought some clothes that I absolutely did not need this week. I did, however, get them from a secondhand store, so I'm not stressing about it. Got 5 shirts and a pair of (super cute) polka dot jeans, plus 2 books. All for only $30. Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk
  24. This is my situation exactly. My oldest doesn't like one-pot meals, or any type of casserole. After I cook the meat, I set some aside for him before I add in everything else. So he gets the meat, a side of veggies, and some type of bread. Everyone else gets the full entree with the same sides. Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk
  25. I don't have bear problems here, but all that nature is keeping me firmly indoors anyway. A few days ago, I went to get something from my car and almost got attacked by a 5 ft. rattlesnake. Sorry, kids, but we're not leaving the house again for a month. Sent from my HTCD200LVW using Tapatalk
