I want to do school work today, but the kiddo is still sickly. This is the last week before break starts and I was hoping to finish strong. He apparently has other plans.

Everything in the schedule is so uncertain; it makes me crazy. I can't just say, "I'm going to do Y and Z on this day." Because before I can do Y or Z, X needs to happen. And X is out of my control. We're not rich by any means. But my husband does make fairly good money, and will be working crazy overtime for a few months. If we could ever get all of our debt paid and everything would stop breaking and needing to be replaced, we could live a pretty comfortable life, financially. We've been working really hard, and are almost to the point where it's not paycheck-to-paycheck. I probably will wait until January. Ours usually waives the join fee for the entire month, and there's a discounted rate for my husband's company. But December is way too busy to try to be adding new stuff anyway. On the other hand, if I wait I might lose motivation and convince myself I don't really need to spend the money. I decided I'm going to join the YMCA. DH is about to be working lots of overtime hours, and it'll be nice to be able to drop the boys at childcare for an hour to do a class. Plus I'm out of shape, and don't have the discipline to work out regularly at home by myself. I'm hoping a set class time (and gym fees) will give me more accountability. I slept until 9:40 and it was fabulous. Last night, DH took me to the big city to get a proper fitting and buy new bOOkshelves. It's nice wearing something that actually fits and doesn't shift every time I turn or bend over. We also went to dinner and half-price books. Our elf brought us our advent calendar today. Amazon, I mean the elf, was a day late on delivery, but it'll be okay. On today's agenda: Pick up the boys from MIL, buy a Christmas tree, and decorate it. I need to pack an overnight bag for the boys. I'm sending them to MIL for the night. I really need the break, but I'm so burnt out that I don't even want to put in the effort of packing the bag and driving them over there. DH is playing in a pool tournament tonight. The boys are in bed, and I took a nice long hot bath. Now I have a sweet kitten and a grumpy old lady dog both vying for lap space. They dislike each other but will cuddle if it means they get to be with me. They make me feel special and loved. ETA Also, Dean Martin is playing in the background. He also makes me feel special and loved. You know he's singing directly to me.

Good to know. Thank you. I yelled at my 3yo for wanting to cuddle me. In my defense, he was asking every 2 minutes as we were walking through a store and couldn't understand why I wouldn't just carry him and push the cart at the same time. At least we pretend to be. Good morning. I love coffee. The house is all ready for the Christmas season. We still need a tree, but all the rooms are clean and decorated with just a touch of Xmas. I still haven't bought the advent calendar that our elf brings every year on December 1st. I haven't had a chance to pick it up without the children. Uh oh. Our park day today was cancelled. I'm bummed because that's the only social time we get now. But I have errands to run anyway, so I suppose I will do that instead. Maybe I can drop the boys with MIL and get the advent calendar too. Dishes, boys bathroom and Captain Mal's room are done. Also, boys are gross. They wanted to put water on the slide and make a water slide. I told them not today because I didn't want them to get all wet. So, being creative problem solvers that they are, they decided to pee on the slide. Now they're in the bath. Gross.
