  1. Classics for Kids http://www.classicsforkids.com/lessonplans/ Classical music lesson plans for K-5
  2. We really like the "I Like to Read" series from Holiday House. The GRL info is listed here: http://www.holidayhouse.com/reading-levels.php
  3. Recents were Charlotte's Web and Frindle. I'm planning to read Maroo of the Winter Caves next.
  4. https://itun.es/us/hHtw2?i=911816848 I have a high tolerance for goofiness myself, but I feel like this song (John Hartmann's Count By 2s from Math All Around Me) is less annoying than most.
  5. When our littlest was just tagging along, I found some good worksheets for him worksheetfun.com and at education.com. Both websites are kind of a pain to navigate, though. If you're not concerned about covering material in a systematic way, it would be easier to just buy one of those giant preschool skills workbooks.
  6. Take a look at Reading the Alphabet. It's free and worked very well for us for a time. http://thisreadingmama.com/free-reading-curriculum/reading-the-alphabet-prek-curriculum/
  7. The narrator is very good. We've already swapped out a few of the poems in FLL1 with ones we liked better, but I've still found the CD useful. Sometimes I've played a "narration" track instead of reading it aloud, to mix things up. I'd say it's nice to have but definitely not necessary.
  8. My own quick search did turn up that blog post, plus a few articles that linked to it. We haven't run into any glaring mistakes or confusing questions, but it's helpful to know those are the kinds of problems to look out for. Mostly, I was surprised to see how similar the exercises were to Singapore Math. We've enjoyed using that at home and I wasn't expecting much from the school's curriculum choice. Not too bad, so far.
  9. DS6 just started 1st grade. He worked through about 2/3 of Singapore Math 1A this summer. (I had hoped to keep him home and continue with Singapore Math this school year, but DH felt strongly about sending him to public school.) His school just adopted Eureka Math. Just glancing through the workbook they sent home today, it looks quite similar to Singapore Math. Is that right? What am I missing? What do people think of Eureka Math? My understanding is that it's free, but I've been lurking here for a while and never seen any mention of it, even though there's a lot of enthusiasm for Singapore Math.
  10. We're still new at this, but I absolutely love Primary Phonics! True love. DS4 is working through the K workbook, and DS6 is nearly finished with the level 2 workbook. I use the 1-2-3 teacher's guide to teach the lessons at the white board. (DS4 gets a kick out of it, so he tags along, too.) DS6 also uses the main set of readers and its matching reading comprehension workbook.
  11. We have LOVED the Todo Math app. It's K-2, I think. DS is just about finished with it, so I need to take a look at Math Seeds.
