  1. He has his math facts down, finally. He really dislikes using a textbook and writing the answers down on a separate paper. I'm sure that's a laziness issue and the main reason he likes MM. We stopped doing the tests because he would actually do okay at the lessons, but fail the test due to anxiety. I was actually his teacher in a private school last year and we used ACSI. I looked at the sample pages and BJU looks similar. I don't mind a teacher driven curriculum for math since he struggles with it so much. He was not able to do MM on his own at all. I may need a little more direction with the instruction part as the math gets harder. However, I have the complete MM curriculum and he likes it, so I am hesitant to switch.
  2. Thanks. My boys are not mathy either. I'll keep looking.
  3. This is our first year homeschooling. I have a 3rd and 5th grader. Both boys struggled in math using MM. I had to do every problem with them and it was rare for them to complete a test without asking for help. Although we all liked MM, I think they need more instruction, practice, and review. Also, my 5th grader has developed test anxiety in math (no other subjects) that we are working on. I had them look at sample lessons from Teaching Textbooks and they did not like it. I am considering BJU 4 & 6 next year. Does this sound like a good fit for our needs?
