  1. Also, towards the end of page three of the K-drama thread is when I start talking about the shows DD and I have watched together. There are also other recommendations in the thread after that. I hope you find some shows to enjoy with your DDs! ☺️
  2. I’ve watched several shows with my DD13 (my oldest DD15 isn’t much interested). I would say the vast majority of the shows are fine, depending on what your concerns are. My main concern was anything sexually explicit. Many shows have a romance factor, but it doesn’t usually get too spicy. Most of the time it’s just kissing, possibly the guy removing his shirt. It’s definitely implied what’s going on, but nothing is ever shown. I’ve never seen female nudity. Some other things that come up are violence and suicide. The shows are often anywhere from 12-20 episodes, so in order to fill that time there are several characters with an array of stories. These can be about abuse, mental health issues, and family drama. Suicide is a huge topic and I’ve seen this in several shows. I’m not bothered by gory stuff, neither are my DDs, but things like car accidents and death are shown. I don’t think it’s anything more than you’d seen in typical American shows/movies though. As far as recommendations…that’s so hard! It just depends on what you’re looking for. Here are a few of my favorites that I’ve watched with DD13 (those are all on Netflix)… Rookie Historian Goo Hae-Ryung Hometown Cha-cha-cha Flower Crew Joseon Marriage Agency Business Proposal (little bit spicy in episode 11) Itaewon Class
  3. I’m always trying to get DH to watch shows with me. I knew he’d like Bloodhounds so that one was easy to get him watching, but after we finished I told him I wanted to watch something a little happier. I asked him if he’d watch Business Proposal with me…he was like heck no!!! Ha! I’ve already watched it twice, but I could probably watch it a hundred times. I’ll keep trying with DH. ☺️
  4. DH and I finished Bloodhounds yesterday…oh boy. So many thoughts. First, I really loved the duo playing the boxers. They were great. Can’t believe that one of them was from Hometown Cha Cha Cha. ☺️ He was my favorite! So funny! Second, this was definitely very violent. That sander/salt moment…omg!! 🫣 Episode 6 was just a lot. I really liked the premise of the show but there were definitely some plot holes and some pieces of the story that could’ve have been better. Overall we still enjoyed it!
  5. Just finished Daily Dose of Sunshine…mental health is definitely the focus and it can get heavy at times, but I still liked it. There’s a very small amount of romance and it had a pretty good ending.
  6. I think I forgot to mention a few books I finished last month (if these are repeats, sorry...my brain is apparently in an end-of-the-year fog 🤪) The Simple Wild by K.A. Tucker - City girl Calla, who lives in Toronto, gets an unexpected phone called regarding her estranged father, who lives in Alaska. She decides it's time to go visit him after years of not speaking and lots of misunderstandings. When she arrives she meets a hot-shot Alaskan pilot whom she despises... they could not be more different. However, after staying in Alaska for a few weeks, she starts to really like the place, form a new bond with her dad, and get caught up in a new relationship with a hot-shot pilot she wasn't bargaining for. I enjoyed this one, and I really liked the Alaska setting. The relationship between Calla, her dad, and her mom was heartwarming. Sometimes Calla got on my nerves though. There's a sequel, so I'm still trying to decide if I'm going to continue. (4 stars) Practice Makes Perfect by Sarah Adams - This is actually the second book is a "series" but it's not really necessary to have read the first one. I've kind of spoiled it anyway because this book has the characters from Book 1 in it. Oh well! Any who...in this book Annie lives in a small town and can't seem to find love. Fortunately, her brother is marrying a pop superstar and this superstar's bodyguard is in town for security for the wedding. He has so graciously volunteered to help Annie with some coaching on how-to-date. Of course, he also has a big crush on Annie, so that complicates things. The premise of this book was so ridiculous, but it was still fun. Nothing deep. (4 stars)
  7. I haven't taken Aimovig, but I've taken Ajovy which I believe is a similar medication (both are monthly injectables). During my time taking it, I found that I had fewer headaches and also the intensity of my headaches was reduced. Just FYI...in addition to the Ajovy, I also take a daily dose of Trokendi XR. I'm a bit of a wimp when it comes to taking the shot at home 🫣, so I no longer take the Ajovy. I took it for about a year though. I've switched to Qulipta, which is another daily medication that supposed to be similar (I still take the Trokendi). The only downside that I experienced with the Ajovy is a "wearing-off" period. So as I got closer to the end of the 30 days that's when I'd most likely experience headaches. That's another reason I switched to the Qulipta. My situation is much different than your DH, so feel free to ignore! I hope your DH is able to find something to help with his headaches!
  8. After Hotel Del Luna made me kind of sad, I did a rewatch of a few of my favorites...Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha and Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency. I still love both of them! I also watched The Beauty Inside. It was okay. The ML was kind of meh. The premise of the show was kind of interesting though. I just finished Love to Hate You. I have mixed feelings on this one. I really liked the couples in this show, but the pacing was weird. Very slow to start and then really speedy at the end. It was 10 episodes, each one only about 45 minutes. I think if it had been longer and the story line expanded a bit it would have been great. Still good though, I just wanted more!
  9. For school, I still read aloud to DDs and today we finished Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys. She’s one of my favorite historical fiction authors, and I love all of her books. This was my second time reading this one, although it had been a while since I first read this one so I didn’t remember how everything happened. I can get pretty emotional when I read books, but for whatever reason it seems worse when I read aloud…oh, the tears. WWII books are the worst for me. My DDs always chuckle at me and my sensitive self. ☺️🤦‍♀️ Anyways, I think they still enjoyed it. (5 stars)
  10. Happy December! 🎄 It doesn’t really feel like December here because it’s not cold yet, but I’m not complaining (I hate the cold weather 🤣). I’ve got most of my Christmas decorations up except the big tree and some outside stuff…we’ll probably finish that up this weekend. As far as reading, I’m several books away from my reading goal this year, so I’ll be doing my best to reach that this month. ☺️ I hope y’all are all doing well and enjoying your holiday season so far! Happy reading!
  11. I’m so sorry…I hope you’re able to get things sorted as quickly as possible.
  12. I've lived in 4 houses and 1 apartment... House 1 was from birth thru 8th grade House 2 was from 9th grade thru when I moved out to live with DH (I also lived in and out of dorms during my 4 years at college, but I don't really count those as my home) House 3 was the first house DH and I bought together, and we lived there about 7ish years Then we moved into an apartment for about 1 year while our current house was being built House 4 is where we've been for almost the last 10 years
  13. I really need to get Viki! 🤦‍♀️🤣
  14. Just finished The Forest of Vanishing Stars by Kristin Harmel. This was my book club's read for the month. A young girl is stolen from her German parents and raised in the wilderness of Eastern Europe. After her kidnapper dies in 1941, she finds herself helping runaway Jews during WWII. I really wanted to love this book, but I just didn't. 😕 When I first started reading it, I was excited because I thought this was going to be a WWII book with magical realism! Something I'd never read before!! Soon, though, the magical realism went out the door and never returned. This book had WAY too many unanswered questions, a very bland protagonist, annoying insta-love (times two), and a plot that was a bit of a slog. The premise for the story was interesting, but there were just too many missing things. (2.5 very sad stars)
  15. DD and I finished the next book in our American Lit study which was Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. It was sort of accidental that this one followed The Great Gatsby, but it was a nice compare/contrast with the themes in each book. Another sad story, but still impactful. We had a nice discussion that I enjoyed. ☺️ (4 stars)
  16. I'm about to finish Hotel Del Luna...I feel like this is the theme of that show too. I don't think it's a bad show, but I watch K-drama to get away from reality. I even checked before I watched it, but I guess my checking was not good enough!! 🤣🤦‍♀️ Oh well
  17. Before Destined with You, I also watched Our Beloved Summer and My ID is Gangnam Beauty. I liked both shows. They were both a bit slow-paced, but both had really sweet main couples and I enjoyed all of the side characters as well. The supporting cast storylines were wrapped up rather abruptly in both shows, so I do wish they'd spent more time with that, especially since the pacing was a bit slow at times.
  18. Itaewon Class is one of my favorite shows!! I thought of you when I was watching Destined with You...I wondered if you had watched and were liking it (I know you like Rowoon 😊). Doona is also on my list to watch soon. I'm surprised it's slow. Isn't it only like 9 episodes? You'd think the pace would be faster for such a short show. 🤨 Have fun at your concert!
  19. 100 episodes! I don’t think I could do it!! 🤣 That’s a bummer about Behind Your Touch…I was thinking of starting that one soon.
