  1. This isn't what you are asking exactly but my dad always uses a ricer for mashed potatoes. He loves it. I have one but can't be bothered. It takes too long for a large family. If it's just for gnocchi I don't think it will be too bad.
  2. I'm planning on putting out some ranch and raw veggies with some other simple appetizers. Can I cut carrot sticks, red pepper slices and cucumber slices today and they still be fresh enough?
  3. Pretty good. Making a bunch of pies today. Pumpkin and peach already in the oven. Crust dough was made last night and refrigerated so I just have to roll each ball out. It's making it go nice and fast. I probably won't prep any more food today. I will have more help tomorrow.
  4. Maybe. It's a good idea. It wouldn't have fixed last night because that was my own fault. I didn't move him before falling asleep. But I am cranky enough to make sure that doesn't happen again
  5. Bahahaha! I actually use one of these. It definitely wouldn't work for him it's me contact with me he wants even if it's just his hand on my arm or whatever. I used to not be a problem it's something weird with me now.
  6. We do have a king already but since he wants to sleep as close as possible and I want as far away as possible, it still isn't big enough 🤣 There are guest beds and I could move except this week when we have company. But the problem only happens occasionally and I never know when. I fall asleep fine. It's the getting woken up that is the problem. I use topical magnesium but im wondering about getting some pills I could take in the moment to make help me get drowsy again. I'm going through testing for high cortisol and I think it's spiking when I get startled like that.
  7. I had a sleep study done a year ago and was only mild (I think 1-2 times an hour) but a CPAP was recommended. I HATED sleeping with one at the study. I was literally dreaming that I was drowning in air. It gives me anxiety just to think about it. So anyways I haven't followed up and don't have a machine. What other options do I have? Anything?
  8. My husband is a cuddler and a toucher. For some reason recently it is waking me up and making it impossible to go back to sleep. I have always been a heavy and easy sleeper until the last several months. I have no idea why unless it's pre menopause screwing me up. I usually read and fall asleep after him so we've worked it out that I just nudge him away when I'm falling asleep. It mostly works but it always seems like when it super important that I get a lot of sleep (I need 9-10 hrs most nights) something wakes me up. He will reach over in his sleep and touch my arm or something. Last night was the worst it's been by a long shot. I was SO exhausted from a bad night the night before and accidentally fell asleep while cuddling. He did that startle thing within 30 mins of falling asleep and it woke me up. I was up for over 3 hrs. I tried all my normal stuff and NOTHING worked for 3+ hrs. I did eventually fall asleep but only got 6ish hours. I need to prepare for company and thanksgiving food (we are hosting) and it's pretty much a disaster. I will nap but it won't be enough. I know myself. He also is SUPER sad about not being able to sleep the way he wants which makes me feel guilty which is a bit irrational but present nonetheless. But it also means I try to put up with it periodically and then well I get crappy sleep. I never understood old people and separate beds but I certainly do now. 😩 And I just want to whine about how crappy my day is going to be and all the stuff I'm not going to get done.
  9. Walking tacos are super simple and so easy and such a crowd pleaser. Individual bags of Doritos or Fritos. We like Doritos better. I get the 50 pack at smart and final Seasoned ground beef with a #10 can of pinto beans per 4-5 lbs of meat (smart and final also has the beans or you of course can use smaller cans). It's just to stretch the meat. Shredded cheese Shredded lettuce Sour cream, squirt bottle works best Salsa I do this for up to 100 while camping. So simple.
  10. For some laughs: 📸 Watch this video on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/share/v/PMsd1JnLGa2xP5BV/?mibextid=3mALyM
  11. To add: I wouldn't try to change people's mind about long standing traditional food. I understand some people might be more adventurous but lots of people really want that one dish they only have at Thanksgiving for it to feel like it's the holiday for them. That's ok too. Choices are great and I would probably focus on that.
  12. It is rude. People are WEIRD about food and even more so when it's a holiday. On my husband's side of the family we have chosen to ask people what is most important to them at the holidays and make sure that item is covered. It started when we went to an extended family thanksgiving and there were baked potatoes, no gravy and no stuffing/dressing. We were all left feeling a bit (ok a lot) disappointed so from now on the hosting family asks everyone else what they really want/need. I am about the only one who like sweet potatoes/yams and so I always bring those. Then I'm happy and if no one else wants them it's no big deal. Your family is acting weird. I would speak up probably with something short and simple. Like "I didn't realize having lots of food at a Thanksgiving meal was such a problem".
  13. Ugh if only. We had to assign seats and make rules because of constant squabbles 🤦‍♀️
  14. Consider bioidentical progesterone.
  15. I thought this was a rather dramatic response to some crafts. And then I watched it. 😡😡😡😡
  16. I was under the impression that these extra thanksgiving meals were just another opportunity to eat traditional thanksgiving food. If you aren't interested in that they walking tacos is easy to do for a crowd and a huge hit. I use individual bags of Doritos.
  17. I make Christmas crack for the neighbors. My husband really wanted to go caroling and pass out plates of various goodies. After a few years of attempting that with young kids and me about losing my mind we switched to a simple purchased item like nice cookies or mixed nuts or something like that. Now that the kids are older I still don't want to do the variety plates but I like doing just one thing and the Christmas crack is a huge hit. People love it.
  18. Knit won't ravel. Irs perfect for this kind of thing because of that. It will roll on itself if it's jersey.
  19. So do you get dressed before present opening? My husband's family did but my family didn't and we don't now. Everyone wears their matching PJs all day and it's part of the fun. My adult kids still beg and insist on them. I'm not forcing it
  20. I do it and think it's fun. But the elf only moves. No mischief or messes AT ALL. My older kids who stay up late are in charge of moving it because I go to bed much earlier. It's simple and easy and a very fun part of December for us.
  21. My son is 26 and I made them for his first Christmas. I was definitely doing it long before I was on social media.
  22. I don't start it remotely but I do use the timer a whole lot. It works because I don't want the clothes sitting wet for hours. I put dirty clothes in before bed and set it to be finished when I wake up. If I actually started the load before bed they would or could get stinky.
