  1. My "baby" turns 21 today - all adult "kids". Time sure flies. Hubby and I were reminiscing with Time in a Bottle ringing through our heads. We've had an awesome parenting time together. I just wish we could relive some of it...

thank you! She's finally done with her finals so the real celebrations can occur :D

Let the partying begin! My guy was fortunate enough to not have a final on his birthday, but didn't finish up until today.

  2. Creekland Pony Farm is now down to just 3 residents - 2 broodmares and our stallion. This is the lowest number of equines we've had in 19 years. It seems our nest is becoming more and more empty...

  3. Quitting at school didn't last long. All it took was a friend who teaches 9th grade science getting breast cancer. :( Of course I'll come in for you as needed!

Sorry to hear about your friend's cancer diagnosis :(

Aw, I'm glad you can be there for her!

Fortunately, it's Stage I, so hopefully all will go routinely. Unfortunately, in her immediate family (parents and siblings) 5 of 6 have had cancer diagnoses in the past year - only one other BC. I can only imagine...

  4. Ok, big step today... just quit my school job (after 16 years). Now I need to see which way the wind blows and where I want to set sail. I've no idea at the moment.

Yep - movin' on. District admin changed a key thing I don't like, so that was my signal (that and unpredictable bad health issue days). It's a friendly parting. I can always return if I change my mind. But for now I'm not thinking of doing that. I want to see where the wind blows.

Yep, a big step! Congrats! I hope you'll still provide all the insight about your students. It's very helpful!

  5. Successfully stayed up to midnight+ last night to score a waterfront campsite at one of our favorite campgrounds this coming Feb! Now... how to stay awake during church on 4 hours of sleep... Hope the sermon is terrific!

Sunday naps are the best! Enjoy!

The older I get the more I appreciate naps and wonder why I ever thought they were BORING and NEEDLESS as a child. I'd vote for making siesta time a "regular" available to all (and often do it at home).

  6. I love being in a place that draws folks from all over the world - hearing oodles of languages - sharing the same love of nature - and reaffirming my belief that lone lunatics are just that - "lone." The majority of us humans share the same lives/loves - and get along well together - regardless of our backgrounds.

I would love that, too. I'm starting to think the lunatics are the majoriy. I just saw an incredible political sign yesterday, about whom the "silent majority" supposedly supports for President. *shudder*

  7. The saddest day in a pet owners life (sigh). RIP Hunter For 15 years you worked on our farm keeping rodents under control and feet/laps warm as needed. Now it's time. I wish it weren't. Love you kitty. May the Rainbow Bridge be all it's supposed to be.

  8. 19 Years ago today we closed on our farm leading to awesome memories running through our minds today.

  9. Note to self: NEVER forget to take Ibuprofen before heading off for school. Or at least find some to take along. GRR!

I hear you. I now carry a couple spare in my lunch bag, just in case.

That's a good idea. I keep mints there. Will have to give them company!

I did. I just wish I could have taken the nurse's pass myself for a minute or two.

  10. There's just something about a room overlooking a (nice) beach watching oodles of dolphins swim by. I've no intention of kicking my travel junkie habit. I have every intention of figuring out how to tweak our budget even more...

Son's play was fun to watch too - as is socializing with him and his friends. And yes... I had axed a Feb trip this year. Now I've got my brain working on full power figuring something out. ;)

  11. Advice from our dogs: Bark less, wag more... From our cats: Full dish, comfortable bed, who needs more?

I agree with both too. :)

  13. Thanks Jane! I'm still learning how this visitor message board works. I didn't realize all these messages were supposed to stay or I'd have never deleted all those below. I sort of figured it was like an Inbox that needed to be cleaned regularly. Guess not.

In any event... today I'm actually at school "working." School is almost over for the year and I'm in a Chemistry 2 class where the teacher had no idea a capable Chem person was coming in (late sick call instead of pre-planned), therefore, it's busy work. I've answered two busywork questions so far (so I feel somewhat useful), but otherwise... it's gonna be a long day! I'm glad I can get the forum to work on my computer!
