  1. Hi!  I see you stopped by to visit.  Hope to see you around here, at least every once in awhile.

Thanks everyone.  For those curious to see an update, I posted one about everybody (in my family) in the Jo-Jo post.  I'd tell you the post number, but apparently they aren't numbered anymore?  That makes it rather difficult to refer to something...

Thanks - still figuring this new board out - so many changes!  Either that or my memory is slipping.  I prefer to think it's changes...

  3. My "baby" turns 21 today - all adult "kids". Time sure flies. Hubby and I were reminiscing with Time in a Bottle ringing through our heads. We've had an awesome parenting time together. I just wish we could relive some of it...

Let the partying begin! My guy was fortunate enough to not have a final on his birthday, but didn't finish up until today.

Happy Birthday to your eldest too, Hornblower!

  5. Quitting at school didn't last long. All it took was a friend who teaches 9th grade science getting breast cancer. :( Of course I'll come in for you as needed!

Fortunately, it's Stage I, so hopefully all will go routinely. Unfortunately, in her immediate family (parents and siblings) 5 of 6 have had cancer diagnoses in the past year - only one other BC. I can only imagine...

  6. Ok, big step today... just quit my school job (after 16 years). Now I need to see which way the wind blows and where I want to set sail. I've no idea at the moment.

Yep - movin' on. District admin changed a key thing I don't like, so that was my signal (that and unpredictable bad health issue days). It's a friendly parting. I can always return if I change my mind. But for now I'm not thinking of doing that. I want to see where the wind blows.

Mid life crisis stuff isn't just for guys I suppose... Fortunately, hubby is supportive!

  9. Successfully stayed up to midnight+ last night to score a waterfront campsite at one of our favorite campgrounds this coming Feb! Now... how to stay awake during church on 4 hours of sleep... Hope the sermon is terrific!

The older I get the more I appreciate naps and wonder why I ever thought they were BORING and NEEDLESS as a child. I'd vote for making siesta time a "regular" available to all (and often do it at home).

  12. The saddest day in a pet owners life (sigh). RIP Hunter For 15 years you worked on our farm keeping rodents under control and feet/laps warm as needed. Now it's time. I wish it weren't. Love you kitty. May the Rainbow Bridge be all it's supposed to be.

Thanks all. Life is moving on and I'm 100% sure we made the right choice, but I gotta admit, it feels emptier now with just one cat left. She was my nighttime sleeping buddy too. (sigh)

  13. I think the American health care system may actually be designed to kill us all early through stress and anxiety.

Sounds plausible. It'd be a great way to "save" social security, after all.

  14. Our school system really dropped the ball on snow day notification today. DH and Squirrelboy were about to walk out the door when DH happened to see the email notification. Apparently no one got the usual phone notfications. I wonder how many kids showed up at schools or bus stops?

School closed here AFTER I got there. Roads were icy in places. Saw an accident returning home. Fun stuff...

  15. Note to self: NEVER forget to take Ibuprofen before heading off for school. Or at least find some to take along. GRR!

I did. I just wish I could have taken the nurse's pass myself for a minute or two.

That's a good idea. I keep mints there. Will have to give them company!

  17. There's just something about a room overlooking a (nice) beach watching oodles of dolphins swim by. I've no intention of kicking my travel junkie habit. I have every intention of figuring out how to tweak our budget even more...

Son's play was fun to watch too - as is socializing with him and his friends. And yes... I had axed a Feb trip this year. Now I've got my brain working on full power figuring something out. ;)

  20. Advice from our dogs: Bark less, wag more... From our cats: Full dish, comfortable bed, who needs more?

  21. I have decided that I am very, very, very fortunate.

  22. Mr. Robert Chang just offered to split $8,700,000 with me 60/40 if only I would send him my bank account info...

  23. You know a class must have a fabulous reputation if not just one, but three students arrive in the classroom at 7:30am to secure good seats for a 9am class. (No, not my class, but my DD was one of the students)

      Kudos to your DD!

This sort of thing happens often at middle son's school. It really surprised me, but they have "fun" with it. Some kids will even sit through earlier classes in the same room to get a jump!
