  1. Tapestry of Grace and Real Science 4 Kids. I love the idea of TOG, but it's too teacher intensive. And RS4K, I can never implement any kind of science around here.
  2. I had the same problem with my mini-dachshund. I used Frontline, it didn't work. I used Advantix and man, what's world of difference!
  3. Thank you both. I really like Biblioplan. I guess I just wanted someone to make my decision for me.
  4. Thnk you for replying. I found the 3 week sample on Biblioplan's website, printed it out, and was able to look it over. I really like that they have maps, book suggestions, and writing. I also like the way their history is written. OTOH, I like that TQH has a variety of living books to use as well as a few spines. One big difference to me is price. I was able to purchase TQH at a 90% discount. Yep, I said 90%. So, not really know about TQH, I just wanted to find out all the opinions out there for/against TruthQuest.
  5. Very interested in both, but I want to hear your opinions please on both. Pros and cons, that sort of thing. Thanks in advance!
  6. I've left the Church and came back. I was even baptized in the Protestant faith! I longed to feel the presence of Christ in the Church. And then a friend told me, "if you follow what men do, they will fail you every time. Keep your eyes on the One who will never fail you." I thought it was great advice. So Jesus and I have a better relationship now. I don't agree with a lot of the man made rules of the Catholic Church, but it' a comfort to be there. So I worship Him by keeping to what He said in the Bible--the New Testament. If it aligns with the Church, great. If not, too bad for them. I hope that helps.
  7. My heart is still so sick from what happened yesterday. My prayers go out to those poor families who lost their loved ones and to those emergency personnel and children who had to witness this tragedy. My prayers are also for our nation who is hurting because of what happened yesterday. I know as a parent all I can think about are those parents who have lost their children so close to Christmas. Now if you all will excuse me, I'm going to go enjoy my family for the the rest of the night God has blessed me with. Goodnight, and may the angels protect all of you tonight and everyday. :grouphug:
  8. :grouphug: for your family. I know these books are for a little older crowd, but I found them to be very inspiring. The Mitford series by Jan Karon. They are full of lively characters and are very uplifting. Ya'll are in my prayers.
  9. I am so blessed to have my husband. He makes me proud to be his wife on a daily basis. We've been married for 16 years and I just love him and what he has accomplished for us and for for our family.
  10. Thanks everyone! Since it is a little while, I will be looking up all the suggestions.
  11. Thanks guys. Ya'll just gave me permission to breathe. I tend to worry too much about the curriculum choices I've made. :blushing:
  12. Hi all, I am looking for help in picking a high school curriculum. I have only one dd who is a wiggly willy/sociable sue. She is very hands on and prefers unit studies. I am using AWOA now, but I feel like maybe I'll need something meatier in high school. She is only in 5th right now, but if I get an overwhelming response for TOG, I know I'll need the extra time to prepare for the dreaded "TOG Fog." So.... What say you, the hive? Will be waiting for responses. Thanks in advance!
  13. We are going from MUS to TT 5 because my dd scored kind of low on the Math portion of her exams. MUS was great, but it's moving a little too slow for my dh's liking. So we are switching to TT. I can't wait! My dd loved the demo and is excited to start!
  14. I go with my gut, usually, but if I find that a curriculum is working with my dd, then what I would do is keep using the curriculum, but supplement with something you feel is better. Hope this helps!:001_smile:
  15. Thank you so much ladies. I had always wondered.
  16. I love this show. They really are family oriented and its one of the few shows I can watch with my dd (10). You know they may argue, which cracks me up, but they're not ugly to each other.
  17. I think AP stands for Advanced Placement... Not too sure, but there are suppose to be advanced curriculums for middle school and high school.
  18. What is the indication that a curriculum is AP if you're homeschooling? Thanks in advance for any answers!
  19. Thanks for the suggestions ladies. I'll be checking those out.:001_smile:
  20. I did a search on the forum, but couldn't really find anything to answer my question. I need help finding a good science curriculum that has lots of hands on experiments but can still provide great information. We haven't had any type of science. In her own words, "Mommy, I want to blow stuff up." While I don't really think she should blow things up, I do want her interested. I don't know, maybe I'm over-thinking it. I've been homeschooling since 2009 and still feel as if I might mess her up. Also, I did just order Learning Adventures. It's suppose to have Science in it, but...I'm very brand new to this curriculum, so I don't know if it'll be too light. Please help! Thank you all!
  21. Christine Miller has a book out called All through the Ages. She matches books with time frames, genre, grade levels, and even geography. I hope that helps!
  22. My daughter is the same way. She loves to read and likes MUS, but I find I have to keep finding ways to keep her interested, soooooo, I've decided to change MY teaching style. While I love the Classical method and try not to stray too far from it, I have changed my teaching style to unit studies that have lots of hands on activities. I tried Konos, but couldn't make it work for me. My Father's World ECC, didn't have too many activities and (not to offend anyone), but was very boring. Tapestry of Grace is just too overwhelming. So, I am now trying Learning Adventures. I could not find a single bad review on it, so I ordered it. I hope this one will work. I've been homeschooling since 2009 and have found that Unit Studies work best with my dd. But I was stubborn enough to keep trying the Classical method. Maybe that's what your son needs as well-- a new way of learning. I hope this info helps. Best of luck to you situation.
