My son did JAG a couple years ago, so I want him to do AG this coming year... and was wondering how well it will work to add his sister in with him doing JAG, or if I need to plan them to do it individually. Any tips from someone who has done it would be appreciated :)

I have a question about using Junior Analytical Grammar and Analytical Grammar together for two different aged kids. The website says this: Q: I have a 5th grader and an 8th grader. Can Jr. AG and AG be taught at the same time to different students? A: Absolutely! If you compare the two tables of contents (above) you’ll see that the first season of AG covers the same materials as Jr. AG (they just have different sentences at a higher reading level). The concepts are identical. The only difference is that the first unit in AG is broken into two units in Jr. AG. Simply finish Unit #1 in Jr. AG with that student and then add in your older child with his AG book. They’ll track right along together. This works so well (and saves you time!) since you can explain the concepts to both students at the same time, but they do the work at their own reading level. They can even help each other out! Has anyone tried this? How did it work out? Would you recommend doing this? Any input would be appreciated :)

I didn't know how to answer the poll... With our first, we co-slept. It was wonderful until he was old enough to move back to his own room... that was miserable. It took us about a year to fully make the transition, and with a growing belly, there just wasn't room for him anymore. It was so miserable of a transition that we never made that mistake again, and the other three were all nursed and put back into their cribs (first 3 months a crib in our room, then after that, their own room).

Last week I decided to ignore the warnings on the plumbing glue that said that fumes can be dangerous, and I didn't bother to ventilate the bathroom where I was working :glare:. After a doctor visit, an ER visit with IV, and millions & millions of pills, I am still stuck in my bed with Pneumonia... chemically induced. It is dreadful, painful, and much more expensive than hiring a plumber. My public service announcement.... please read the warning labels and take them seriously. :banghead::sad:

I'm going through this exact thing... my last period was the end of January. I just had my blood drawn for thyroid testing and have an ultrasound scheduled for Friday. My prolactin level was fine on a blood test from last week, and I'm definitely not pregnant. So now we will see how the next tests come back. I do know that I have a small cyst on my ovary that my OB/GYN found during a routine checkup. :grouphug: Sorry you are going through this too!

My kids "junior referee" for our soccer association. They make $5 a game and love doing it! My oldest actually started an IRA last year with his earnings.

My 6th grader has been testing with his correct grade level in ITBS since first grade. Of course, he has been pretty much at a "ceiling" with 99's for a couple of years. His grade equivilents have hit 13+ across the board this year, so now I'm thinking that this test isn't really helping us assess his strengths and weaknesses. What would you do? Should I move him to an older grade in testing (and if so, which grade?)... should I stop all together... is there a better test for him? I guess I don't want to waste money testing him like I have been if I'm not really getting any benefit from it (other than him feeling really great about himself and his abilities, which encourages him more... so that is good about it... and he LOVES to test!!!). What do you do? What are your thoughts? ETA: We are not required to test, I just do so with my kids that I can compare progress over the years.

I purchased a used set of Saxon Math 5/4 and discovered that I am missing tests 1-5. What would you do? Would you purchase a new test booklet just for the five tests, or just make do without for the first five chapter tests? I wonder if it would work to create my own tests using the lesson problems... Is there a place that I could purchase by download the missing tests?

AOP lifepac? I'm looking for something like this for science, but that follows the wtm yearly topics (not the spiraled "touch on each science topic yearly" approach that Lifepac does). But, it is pretty independent and open-and-go.
