  1. Just seeing if anyone has invented this wheel already. I purchased First Year ASL Part 1 and 2 for my 9th grader for this year. Now realizing I don't know what the right pacing is for this since the does are all jacked up. Has anyone already written out a school year of what to complete each day? :)
  2. I just downloaded the app and am looking through the contents. It looks great just working through the three options for assignment load and assessment!
  3. Bringing home my 11th grader ASAP and need to replace the Bible curriculum he has been doing at his private school. They study worldview and apologetics on campus, so ideally something online and in the same genre - but anyone know anything about: Monarch 11th Grade Bible - Monarch Bible Doctrine https://www.aop.com/curriculum/shop-monarch/bible-doctrine BJU 11 - Bible Truths 11 http://www.bjupresshomeschool.com/product/410456 Need to get something going hopefully by Tuesday. That's crazy, but we need him out and in a better spot ASAP.
  4. My son had his most recent testing done at Packard. Yes, the waitlist was long. But we got a cancellation appointment the summer and came in the next morning. They found stuff his private evaluation never did. Can't speak highly enough of his psychiatrist and evaluation with neuropsych there.

  6. I am beginning to look for options for my son (ADHD, expressive language and auditory processing disorder) and am looking for a full online program that can either be totally done in one place or pieced together. He has bombed out of the Roman Roads class for US History. Videos are great, quizzes are hard and there is little grace. So we are changing courses right now midstream. TabletClass is going ok for math, but maybe back to Teaching Textbooks? What classes online work well for English/Literature, Science, History! Help. I want to keep him in the situation he has, but need a more successful structre.

  18. Perfect! My daughters birthday is actually 9/10! She's only in 2nd due o California's late school cut off. We would love to do either but snail mail is my first choice. Pm me and we can work out details!
  19. My daughter would love to write to your daughter. We live in Mountain View, CA. She does attend a private Christian school but we are "afterschooling" and I am working on letter writing with her. She thoroughly enjoyed the class penpal at school last year and I would love for her to have someone to correspond with.
  20. thanks for all the advice. i realize that 7/6 is technically grade level but his school "accelerated" math and views 7/6 as the lower class. ie: the class of 27 only 7 are in 7/6 the rest are in 8/7. and will track accordingly. i want to do additional work at home to try and catch him up in hopes of getting back on the track that the school generally prefers. i know the worst case scenario here is that he takes algebra in 9th instead of 8th which is not really that big of a problem in the first place but i know he is capable of more.
  21. my oldest (11 years old going in 6th grade) is being placed in the "low" class at school. saxon math 7/6 for 6th grade. we are not overly thrilled with the placement nor the fact that the teacher is a first year no teaching degree math teacher (which frankly if i am sending him to private school i expect a qualified teacher, not just another teachers husband who needs a job). so i want to get him back to path for pre-algebra next year and algebra in 9th grade. do you have any suggested supplementation or know of any books or online programs that would help me figure out what his issues are? 94% of his problems are working too quickly and trying to be first to turn work in vs not knowing what he was doing on his papers last year. when we would look over them later he would be like "oh yeah, i missed that" so anyway we are frustrated and trying to get prepared for the year before it even starts!
  22. who is the non-profit that offers the training? that sounds like a great opportunity to give back!
