  1. We've been in our new school year since the first week of June. We started working 15 days a month, and so far, so good! My son craves structure, and I need to have days in the week to focus only on household stuff. :) Edit: Not to say, we don't go have fun on other days...lol.
  2. We just started using Book 1, and my son seems to enjoy it. I like how it flows step-by-step from sentence structure to writing paragraphs and finally essays (and everything in between). Plus, it has just enough Grammar to help those that get easily confused with lots of Grammar rules.
  3. My son had an IEP from preschool until last month (4th grade). I started hs this year, but I was able to keep him going in speech therapy. They just made a new IEP to reflect that we were hs and that ST was his only need. I stopped it on our own terms. I'd check into the laws of your state, because I've found alot of times that schools will skirt around information. For example, I once asked the principals if there was a class that my son could go into (besides regular ed). Mind you that this was after he was in special ed preschool, and that year they put him in reg ed kindergarten. They looked at me like I was crazy. Come to find out, that there was an EDLD class right down the hall! Because of that one slip up, he repeated kindergarten. In other words, the law probably will let you continue ST but the teachers may not be familiar with it. Good luck to you. :grouphug:
  4. Alot of your situation sounds just like what we've gone through! My son was also in the special needs preschool in ps and followed special ed until I homeschooled this year. My son still asks the same questions over and over, so that's still an area that I'm working on. I suggest seeing a developmental pediatrician that can assess and follow your son's treatment. He or she will know which direction to take in terms of neurological testing and treatments. Good luck to you! :grouphug:
  5. I recently started my hfa/ocd son (and our family) on a organic diet. I was going to start w/ GFCF but wanted to start w/ eliminating artificials, etc and go from there. I have also included more supplementation. He takes a multi-vitamin that has a little more than the RDA, Omega Bursts fruit chew, and 1 oz of Goji juice mixed w/ a dark fruit juice. I've also been reading about eliminating yeast, but I guess I have to wait awhile before adding another change. :001_smile:
