  1. Anyone want to share what their sons/daughters thought. My daughter thought the science was easier but had trouble finishing the reading(which is usually her best subject....she might have tried too hard!!!)
  2. In my previous post I meant there not their. My fingers and brain sometimes don't work.
  3. My daughter already has a full schedule with reading and we have thrown some economic reads in their as well. She already has a full writing curriculum too. Do you think it would be alright to use Notgrass and skip any writing assignments they have on it and still count it as an economics half credit.
  4. I am looking for a fairly simple economics course. My daughter already has a full load. I want something that is pretty light but will teach her the basics and be enough for a half credit. Any suggestions?
  5. Yes, yes, yes! I have felt exactly like you do. My oldest is a junior and all the fears of college and or life facing her has made me reanalyze every decision we ever made. I have felt just like you that whatever happens is all my fault!!! I was so nervous when she took her first ACT and told my husband I feel like all my work is being graded. What's the cure? I'll tell you what I know not what I do......it's trust....the only cure for fear is trust....to trust the Lord will take care of them.....to believe His grace is sufficient. It is, you know, but believing it makes all the difference in the peace in our lives. You have my prayers today, fellow worrier! I do understand!!!
  6. I thought apologia considered their physical science a high school course. Have yall found it to be true that colleges won't accept it? We were hoping to.
  7. Okay, this slipped up on me. In Mississippi all colleges go by ACT so we have been concentrating on that. But scholarships are available thru SAT????? Is that right???? Do you need to take the PSAT first?????? Dd is in 11th grade this year. She took ACT for the first time in April and made a 25. In MS the magic number is 29, so we're going to work on that and test more.....I wasn't sure if taking the PSAT or SAT was a good thing or a waste of energy in our place. Can anyone help???
  8. My dd will be in 11th grade. She's done writing strands all the way through but I felt like she needed a little something else to help her with her essays and this seemed a good fit. I guess since it's been written for adults then it's not too "light" for 11th grade. After she finished it first of her grade we are going on to other writing, etc. using excellence in literature. what do yall think
  9. What's a good grade to do this book? When did some of you do it? Did you find it helpful?
  10. Anyone use this and if so, how long did it take you to complete it?
  11. Does my dd need a graphing calculator for precalculus. We're doing Lial's. Thanks. If she does, you'd recommend???
  12. Any helps on finding these things on line? Just google name of slides maybe?
  13. What do yall think of this. Our state requirements and the colleges my dd would be looking into require 4 sciences with 2 of them lab based. She has already done biology and chemistry with labs. We were thinking of doing apologia's a/p course without buying the microscope slides/and dissections. One it's too save move and two since it's not required and she is not planning on going into a science major but would love to learn about the human body. What do yall think of this idea?
  14. I am so upset because I can't see pretty in pink's pics. I don't know why but they just have little x. Other people's pics are showing up though just not hers. I don't have facebook!
  15. Thanks, Janet, that was so helpful!!! Her grammar, punctuation, and spelling are good. It is more the question of is this paper good and academically up to par and also can she fully do some of those kind of papers you mentioned. She took ACT in April of sophomore year and did well....we did not do the written portion but of course will be doing that in SAT. I think your idea of getting all these basics down 11th grade year and doing research paper senior might be a good idea. She is bright and I know she can follow a "how to" type thing....It's just I don't know if when I read her papers the thought is compex and complete enough. Does this make sense? She is well read and that was her highest score on ACT. Any thing else you think of would be helpful too. Your post really helped me Thank you.
  16. Yes! HSLDA actually sent me their schedule that correlates the chapters with the episodes. I was so glad! Thanks for asking though!
  17. When my dd took it in April, she took it April 14 and it posted April 30. Those were 2 long weeks!
  18. I have always felt like writing was our deficit. This is what I have for 11th grade..... Writing Strands 7 Lively art of Writing Excellence in Literature American Lightning Literature Early American I feel like my dd needs more writing instruction that's why I chose Writing Strands 7 and Lively art of writing but she also needs the literary kind of writing too and thought it would go along with American Lit. I don't know how to get it all done or if I'm doing too much,. Can anyone help?????? Cindy
  19. I am a math tutor and used them to teach some home schoolers who were using the same curriculum as a local private school. I liked them and thought they were thorough. I actually looked for them to use with my oldest daughter but couldn't find them without being so expensive. Hope this helps.
  20. We are doing this. Is there any info out there which episode on dvd goes along with which chapter in the book. It seems to be done in random order. I can figure this out but in case someone had already done this I'd love to see theirs. Thank you so much. cindy
