  1. Thanks for the offer. That is very kind. ilythigg@gmail.com
  2. Big money saver: Shop once a month (you will probably need to have a meal plan in place). Then set aside $25ish per week for milk/fresh foods (halving my budget since you have roughly half the people). Put it in an envelope and you can't go over it.
  3. I'm very similar to the above. $1000 for our family of 8 kids ranging from 14-2 with 4 boys and 2 girls. Occasionally we will spend as much as $1200. I'm in rural NC. Price of milk here is just under $4/gallon. Bread is at least $2/loaf
  4. I strongly prefer cloth but after 6 kids, I have an opinion about sposies too :tongue_smilie: The three big guys imo are: -Pampers -Huggies -Luvs Pampers and Huggies are superior to Luvs in the amount that they can absorb. I would give the nod to Huggies (especially their overnight diaper) in ultimate absorbtion. Luvs is 90% as good as absorbing but is much cheaper. The fit is a little less than ideal on any child that I've seen. Not bad - just 90% of perfect. I don't like the way the diaper hangs when it is soiled but again that is quickly remedied. If cost is a major concern, Luvs will win out. Pampers and Huggies are pricey. Both have given plenty of kids rashes as a whole but typically if your child reacts to one, they are ok with the other (my youngest can wear Pampers but not Huggies and his cousin is the opposite). They have a very different fit in my experience. Pampers - tall lean and lanky do well with this diaper. Or average Huggies - works extremely well for the chubby baby. Or shorter rises If you want a "Green" Diaper that is disposable, I would recommend Seventh Generation. They hold up the best. If you aren't opposed to a small amount of laundry, check out gDiapers. And if you are up for cloth, one of my favorites is bumgenius. I also like fuzzi bunz.
  5. This is a great book. It will teach him what he needs to know. Even greater, it has assignments (with answers) so it could easily serve as a textbook if you are wanting to give credit. http://www.amazon.com/Head-First-HTML-CSS-XHTML/dp/059610197X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1344123154&sr=8-1&keywords=xhtml
  6. http://www.currclick.com/product/73231/Map-Travelers-Oceania-Poles-Continent Free right now at currclick :)
  7. We do 3 pages a day. I have a schedule that I print and tape to the inside of the book that groups the pages by 3's. Each page has an individual checkbox because he doesn't always complete them at one sitting and will lose track of how many he has done. I review his work each day and then I put a sticker in the space beside the 3 pages. Here is a sample of what I'm talking about:
  8. I used it in 8th grade with my daughter. I think it is ideally suited for 8th-9th. However it is clearly an adult book so 8th grade plus. I'm sure that some kids could use it earlier. But it assumes an older pupil, I think.
  9. I started on the generic and had a very difficult time with my levels - switched to name brand Synthroid ($36/mth) and the past 3 years have been a breeze. I switched a month ago to the generic to save money and darn if I'm not feeling considerably worse. *sigh* Guess I'll have to switch back.
  10. Here is some more information: http://www.heart-2-heart.ca/men/page4.htm Also, there was a researcher in the 80's whose data concluded that men are abused nearly as often as women. I'll see if I can't find a link to the initial research. I remember reading a bunch of articles a few years back but can't remember specific details at this moment.
  11. Ordered from Dick Blick. My staples carried this one a few years ago but I thought it was pretty pricey: http://www.staples.com/Pro-Art-Canson-XL-Watercolor-Paper-Pad-12-x-18/product_943285
  12. At a fourth grade level. I have a very bright kiddo who prefers to read science or nonfiction. It is frustrating b/c his reading ability is only at grade level and many of these books are babyish and state facts he already knows.... I do make him read some fiction but it is like pulling teeth. His favorite book when he was in kindergarten explained how the ventilation system worked for those underwater tunnels that cars drive through :001_huh: I'm floundering trying to find "meaty" science books that he can read where the language is fairly simple. any suggestions?
  13. I picked this book up recently at a thrift shop. It looks fantastic. http://www.ebay.com/ctg/World-Literature-by-Donna-Rosenberg-1992-Hardcover-/449322?_refkw=rosenburg+world+literature&_pcatid=4&_pcategid=378&_dmpt=US_Nonfiction_Book Does anyone else own this? Do you have a TM? Can I get the ISBN if you do? I can do this without one but it sure would make my life easier. thanks!
  14. My daughter's is severe. She has it on her face, neck, back and even stomach sometimes. We have tried antibiotics and the epiduo that a pp mentioned. No results. We also tried the Zinc and it did not help. It did upset my daughter's stomach. We stuck with it for about a month but after no results and making her miserable, we quit. Our only option left is Accutane and BCP. So far we have decided not to pursue that. It seems.... well, extreme. I'm not sure that I'm comfortable with the risk for beauty. My daughter doesn't like her acne but she isn't embarrassed by it. She is confident despite the acne. Perhaps if it had more of an effect on her mental health, I'd be more likely to consider it.
  15. I have something similar. I have 3 and 3. 3 that look completely alike and another set of 3. They are every other kid too which is weird! The two sets aren't completely dissimilar but they are enough different that a LOT of people comment that "those 3 look alike" and "those 3 look alike".
  16. My husband is black and gets asked if these are his kids (they are and so is the baby that looks like these two). This was middle of the summer and when they are the most brown: He does not get those same questions about this kiddo (or the other two that favor her): Sorry for the huge pics :blushing:
  17. Motherease makes a pull-up. Maybe the medium would work for your 8 year old? https://usshop.motherease.com/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=15&cat=Bedwetter+Pants There are a ton of great WAHM on Hyena Cart that make cloth "diapers". Maybe take a look at some different vendors and contact your favorite. Maybe they would do a custom? http://hyenacart.com/
  18. Take the placement test until she doesn't pass it. Then place her in the highest level that she does pass.
  19. A piano technician may or may not be a reliable source. Make sure he is a RPT. There is a search function on the main website. The testing for this is rigorous and will ensure that they do know what they are doing. (My father is an RPT)
  20. Wow, thanks guys. Lots to process here and a few things that I'll need to get back to you (like the Beast problems and some other questions). My hubby is home and wanting to tackle organizing the clothes for the whole house. HooooooBoy! I'll be back on Monday ;)
  21. He is using TT about 1/2 a grade ahead. So he is on the 2nd disk of TT6 and finishing up his 5th grade year.
  22. He does use TT. It is the only math program where we could make progress. That said, it bothers me that the word problems are so very easy in TT. Having had a daughter take the SSAT this year for boarding school, I know the level of difficulty that may be headed his way in just a few years.... *sigh* I'm really not trying to make him be someone he is not. But I do want him to be the best he can be too.
