  1. Thanks so much. I am really thinking about it. I could use it in the fall with my older 2 kids (also have an 8th grader) and then in a few years with my youngest. I love that he says 100% money back if I don't like it. Makes me want to get it and try it out. Our co-op is having a meeting tonight about middle and high school classes for the fall. I can ask around and see if any one has the teacher kit. Or save up to get it :)
  2. Ok, this is my plans for my middle daughter. She will be 11 in May, so a young 6th. This will be our 2nd year of homeschool. We go to co-op once a week. This is still a rough plan, advice is always welcome. Language Arts- Spelling- AAS lv finish 3-5ish (She has issues with spelling, so working though.) Writing- Writing with Skill ??? Still debating Reading- With history and off a list I have Grammar- ??? History- History Odyssey Ancient History lv 2 Science- She want to study Anatomy. So debating- Bookshark 5th grade Science or Biology for the Logic Stage (leaving out the plant and adding to the human part) Math- Life of Fred Logic- Building Thinking Skills Book 2, Mind Benders Art/ Music- Harmony Fine Arts Ancient Art and Orchestra
  3. To be honest, I have not made her write at all. I was trying to deschool her and was giving her time. But your right, I need to find our where she is at. How do you know what a 5th grader should be able to write? I think her writing is ok. She got an average writing grade on her last state test (reading was off the chart). My focus this year was to work on her spelling. I was going to tackle writing next year, and keep going with the spelling.
  4. Ok, This is our first year homeschooling. This is my youngest list. She is 8, but has special needs. Handwriting / fine motor skills are delayed. She was diagnosed with a reading disability. We need to test her for dyslexia. Also, because it is our first year, I have changed some of our curriculum. Most of it will not be done at the end of this school year and will be finished in the fall. We homeschool year round, with breaks as we need them. Spring/ Summer: Language Arts- All About Reading 1, Writing with Ease 1, First Language Lessons 1, and A Reason for Handwriting (She hates this. Not sure to keep going or stop. Going to give it a little more time.) History- Following the guide from Build your Library grade 1, SOTW 1, with books added. We use the Cd and teacher guides. Science- dropped the ball here. Was doing Botany, but hated the curriculum. We are just exploring nature around us Math- Life of Fred. Working on Cats right now. And Touch Math Addition (this was given to her in public school. I use it to help with her math.) Fall: Once we finish above: Language Arts- All About Reading 2, All About Spelling 1, Writing with Ease 2, First Language Lessons 2, and handwriting (but no idea what or we may skip, with using WWE) History- I think History Odyssey Middle Ages, lv 1 Science- Earth Science & Astronomy for the Grammar Stage Math- Life of Fred Art/ Music- Harmony Fine Arts Grade 2- Middle Ages (undecided)
  5. I have looked at it, but was not sure where to start. Do you get the DVD and just watch them? Do we watch them together? Are there lessons we do? I need to look at it more. I keep seeing it suggested. I am not sure about the cost. But maybe I can find someone with the DVD or get them used.
  6. My 1st grader is doing the WWE. I was debating WWS for my middle. I was afraid the WWE would be to easy and she would not do it. I think if I can get her going, she will do well. But school had her so worn down, she hates it.
  7. Ok, we in our first year of Homeschool. The girls have been in public school till this school year. So I am kinda starting in the middle. I borrowed the WTM book from the library and it is a great fit for my older ones. We will be putting it into action in the coming year. So, I am needing help planning for my middle daughter. She is 10, will be 11, so 6th grade. But, she is considered gifted. Reading ability is way above level (upper high school). But spelling / writing is behind. I got her All About Spelling and she is doing better there. But, she refuses to write. She will happy tell me all about everything and talk my head off. But actually writing it down is like pulling teeth. So this year, I was really working on her spelling and letting her read. I am changing her book list and going to have her start reading more of the WTM books for her age. And in the fall, she will start Ancient History. But what do you suggest for writing? Money is a semi issue. I can spend what we need, but we need to be careful about what I spend. AAS has her doing dictation, so she is working on that at least. And I have her orally narrate for me, but will only write as little as possible. I did have her tested for dyslexia and that was negative. Her gifted teacher said her brain moves to fast for her hands, so she just can't keep up. And her spelling slows her down also.
