  1. My daughter will be a senior this fall. She is interested in becoming a personal trainer. So we have been research what she needs to do. There are several organizations that have certification. Is there one that is accepted at most gyms? Also she is thinking of getting an associated degree in exercise science from ISSA. With this degree, she will have 6 certifications. Do you know if gyms accept ISSA certifications. Have you heard anything about ISSA? Any words of advice would be appreciated. Thank you!
  2. No answers on the college board so I thought I would ask here! My daughter is interested in nutrition and fitness. We have looked into the holistic/natural nutrition and have some questions. Has anyone ever taken classes through the following schools (all are online classes)? Global College of Natural Medicine Natural Healing College Trinity School of Health These are all certificate degrees and when completed she can take a certification test. I have contacted Trinity and they would allow her to start taking classes now, but she could not get her certificate until she turns 18. I will be contacting the other 2 schools to see if she could start now. I was thinking about having her doing this her jr/sr year and then, if she wants, get a degree in nutrition/fitness at a 4 year college. Would this be overkill? Also if she takes online classes, they are credit units. So if they are 3 credit units does that equal 1 credit for high school (same as taking a college class)? Also any tips/information about this degree or career choice would be appreciated. Thanks, Nancy

  4. My dd is going into 11th grade and does not know what kind of career she would like. This summer we are taking time for career exploration. My question is, if nothing really stands out to her would going to community college and getting an AA degree help get a job better than not going to college? Or would going to a liberal arts school and getting a generic/general degree be better. I never went to college so this degree thing is all new to me. Thanks, Nancy
  5. We live a dairy farm. We milk about 70 cows. My daughters have been drinking raw milk since they were about 1 ... they are now 12, 14, & 15. My husband drank raw milk all is life. They all hate the taste of store bought milk and will not drink milk when we are away unless it is chocolate milk. We drink approximately 1 gallon per day/day and a half. We also make our own yogurt and some day I will try to make cheese! As for me I grew up drink skim milk (my husband calls it dish water milk!), so I am not such a big milk drinker. We can not sell our milk because we are not licensed. Our milk is bought by a co-op. Nancy
  6. My dds (15,13, & 12) eat scrambled eggs fried in coconut oil. Make grilled cheese with coconut oil. There are different kinds of coconut oil - expeller pressed is less coconuty and raw is very coconuty. One dd loves the raw and uses it often.
  7. I have been scrapbooking for about 15 years. I have 3 dd (14, 13, 12) and a scrapbook for each and a scrapbook for family & friends. About 5 years ago, I started allowing them to help me put their scrapbook together with me doing most of the work. The next year, they did more on their own. They eventually did their own themes/ideas, but I had to approve first. Now they do it all...I don't even look at it until they are finished. We do our scrapbooking every Jan for the previous year. They also take most of the pictures, since each one got a digital camera for Christmas about 3 years ago. They LOVE looking at all the scrapbooks over and over and over again. It is fun to see how the design ideas have changed over the years too! Nancy
  8. I am looking mostly at the family & consumer sciences and the health & fitness curriculum for high school. Could you give an opinion on their products? Thanks, Nancy
  9. She has never been to a worldview camp. This year we are doing Lightbearers from Summit Ministries (a middle school worldview curriculum). I have a friend whose daughter went to a worldview camp and from what I understand there is one near by every year. So I am going to keep that in mind for the future. Nancy
  10. I would like my dd to read The Deadliest Monster. We have not read Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde or Frankenstein and probably won't have time. I was thinking about renting the movies for these books. Could someone tell me which movie versions follow the books the closest? Thanks, Nancy
  11. My daughter completed MUS pre-algebra last year and is currently working on MUS algebra. If I decide to switch her to Life of Fred, would she use beginning algebra or advanced algebra. She understood and did fairly well with the pre-algebra. Some of the things taught in MUS algebra are not always taught very well - problems that were not taught during the video. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks, Nancy
  12. Could you give me any information about this program. Thanks, Nancy
  13. How much time do you give for basic mutiplication drills (ex 5x3) and basic division drills (ex 15 divided by 3)? I have a page of drills that have 100 facts per page and would like to use these for speed drills. Thanks, Nancy
