  1. I will let her know. I did tell her how grateful everyone is for her update.
  2. I'm so glad it's over and your niece had a beautiful wedding. You did a great job with your mom, too. Your dad...ugh, I don't know what to say about his awful comment. 😞
  3. Sounds wonderful! I'm so happy for you!
  4. @Janewaythank you so much for the wonderful update. I've been worried and this is wonderful news. I hope he continues to do well and am glad he's being monitored closely. Big hugs to you.
  5. @teachermom2834my experience is almost identical to yours. You expressed it beautifully.
  6. I'm also continuing to think of you and sending so many positive thoughts and hopes that your ds will be ok.
  7. I have complicated intestines and my prep would sometimes be days before my procedure. But that was doctor ordered and certainly not something I chose to do. I think the longest was 3 1/2 days for me. My doctor actually wanted to do longer, but thought it would be too hard on me.
  8. I forgot to add that my dd does say that she feels left out sometimes because her older brothers have so many memories/shared experiences that don't include her. I was really worried about how it would all work out with the age span when we found out about the pregnancy, but it turned out to be very special in our case. I agree with some comments above that you just never know how siblings will relate to each other no matter how close or far apart they are in age.
  9. I have a friend who did that and it worked out fine. My three oldest (boys) are much older than their baby sister and they are all adults now and very very close. She's particularly close with her twin brothers who are 8 years older. They adore each other and the boys were really supportive of her when she was growing up, which was nice because we don't have any extended family who are supportive. They went to all of her performances, sports things, first day of school ceremonies, school events, etc. and always made sure she was treated special at home (no wonder she adores them!). She's officiating her brother's wedding soon and two of them just visited her recently (she lives about 1000 miles away). When they were little it was hard on me to find things they could all enjoy (like movies, outings, even vacation activities), but that wouldn't have changed with another sibling close to her age.
  10. Wow, I LOVE it! So sweet and thoughtful of you. I'm sure it will be very much appreciated.
  11. No, not offended but I might be stressed out about doing it all correctly.
  12. Wonderful heartwarming story. Thank you for sharing! Best wishes to him for lots of happiness and success.
  13. Ds1 was able to have a grade changed at his university but he had to push very hard for it. I don't remember the full process (he graduated from college 11 years ago), but it definitely took a lot of work on his part and his assertive personality certainly helped (I have other kids who are much more passive an wouldn't have pursued the grade change). In his case, his grade fell from an A to a B due to a poorly worded/graded test by the instructor. She wasn't a full-time professor - she worked in industry and taught part-time.
  14. I'm so glad he was seen and diagnosed. Hope the Rx helps very soon.
  15. I'm sorry. Can you leave him something special - even just a note with a happy face on it or something for him to have after you are gone?
  16. I'm reading Says Who?: A Kinder, Funner Usage Guide for Everyone Who Cares About Words by Anne Curzan. It's very good so far. Some of the grammar is over my head, but the author sure has given me a lot to think about. I just wish I could retain all of the info I'm reading. DH and I have been discussing some of the things I've read in the book and I think he's going to read it too. He loves a good debate (I don't) and doesn't agree with some of the things I've told him the author has said. 😛
  17. Wow, that's fantastic! So happy for you and DH! 🙂
  18. Sending hugs @goldberry How wonderful that your dad worked to make things right. ❤️
  19. Sending hugs and just echoing @YaelAldrich - everything is so much harder to deal with when you have pain. Hope things settle down soon and you feel better.
  20. The MRI shows soft tissue (like discs) while x-ray would show bone. MRI would definitely show more detail.
  21. I'm asleep at that point. I can't sleep at home, but as soon as I'm in the car I'm ready for a nap. And a snack. I joke with DH that I'm like a toddler because all I do on long drives is eat and sleep.
  22. Love this! What a great sense of humor! Have a great time.
  23. Our local cc is mostly fabulous with really dedicated and great professors. Can't say the same overall for the universities my kids attended (although there were certainly good and bad at both CC and university).
