  1. My son has myoclonic seizures, among others. Keppra has been a good drug for him, though his seizures are intractable so our goal is generally to reduce rather than eliminate.
  2. Because clingy isn’t a positive trait. I think implicit in the word is one person gripping on, clinging to, the other. That’s not mutual, especially if the clingee is the one bringing up the clinginess and using the word. However, no one here was talking about you, your relationships, or your wiring. We’re talking about *our relationships with people who aren’t respecting boundaries. I’m genuinely sorry that this feels personal but I disagree that anything said in this thread has to do with relationships and people outside of the ones we are discussing.
  3. I'm not sure I agree with this. Pretty much anything is acceptable in friendship (or any relationship) if it works for both parties. What we're discussing here is specific dynamics where the person who wants more time is also being quite reactive when they don't get it. That's completely different from people choosing to mutually invest a high level of involvement in each other's lives.
  4. Funny that you say this because I had a friend who wanted this level of involvement and I put up boundaries. It’s a much longer story but she eventually blew up and the friendship was over. At some point she told me that she was hoping I would be like a sister (she comes from a large family of girls). My response was that it felt like she wanted spousal level support and I just didn’t have that to give. I don’t have a sister, so I don’t know if this is how close sisters are. To me it felt like a level of involvement only reserved for my family and I had no desire to invest that much effort into the friendship.
  5. Wow, a whole day. I’m glad you like this person because I could not last in this relationship.
  6. I see. Yeah. My phrasing implied something much more severe than reality. I don’t literally make him say goodbye but by virtue of being with his wife, who is saying goodbye, he will say goodbye. You can’t just leave when the person you drove with is announcing your collective departure.
  7. I have no idea how you got this out of my post. I’m not insisting he does anything. People can have social anxiety and still have the desire to be social sometimes.
  8. We call this an “Irish goodbye” in my household. This is my husband’s MO. If we drive together I will make him say goodbye but if we drive separately he will just leave. It’s a social anxiety thing. And yes, I do feel awkward when people ask me about it but I generally just shrug it off. People who know and love him just get used to it.
  9. It's so hard to parent young adults. The tears I've cried...the tongue I've bit through. This is definitely not my favorite stage. It's very, very sweet that he's coming to you. This will sting awhile, no doubt, but he'll find his feet.
  10. As you know, FAFSA is based on the earnings 2 years prior to the school year. I started working my youngest’s freshman year. We won’t feel the Fafsa impact until her junior year, and even then I haven’t been employed the whole year. We will truly feel it her senior year but by then I will have been working for several years and it will hopefully be worth it. Plus, since we don’t live off of my income, this is all stuff we can prepare for.
  11. I was in a great place in early 2020 and managed to keep up with it through the summer but when winter hit and my school schedule intensified, I stopped working out. I really do best with classes. The Y is still not back to its former self as far as class offerings so last week I joined Pure Barre for a trial month. The first class kicked my butt but the second class (yesterday) was not nearly as tough. I have to take lots of breaks but that’s ok.
  12. You've truly convinced me that I never want to build a house.
  13. Aside from filing the affidavit, you can also join a public school charter or private umbrella school. Charters are non-traditional high schools that are still technically public school. There are a wide variety of charters with lots of pros and cons. The general trade off is control vs resources. Charters can give you more resources, but you are generally giving up control. Private school umbrellas also run the gamut. In their simplest form, they keep your records and give you a more formal covering over your homeschool. Some umbrellas go beyond that and offer a hybrid classroom/homeschool situation. The benefit to charters and umbrellas is that they can make it much easier if you ever decide to re-enroll in public high school. California has a reputation for being very inflexible about giving high school credit to homeschoolers who are enrolling later in high school. Your best resources will be homeschoolers in your area. They're out there and I promise, they can tell you everything about everything that is offered in your area.
  14. We used to live in Dr. Phillips where some of those flooding pictures were taken. This storm seems like it had more flooding and less winds than the 2004 storms?
  15. Charlie, Frances, Jeane (sp?). That was a wild month and a half. I gave birth to my youngest *in the middle* of Charlie. Hard to believe it's been 18 years.
  16. https://www.amazon.com/Puracy-Streak-Free-Household-Multi-Surface-Nontoxic/dp/B00NIYV78O?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&psc=1 This stuff is incredible. My garage door had gross build up from where the dogs push the door open and I just sprayed and left it for about 10 minutes. Wiped right off.
  17. YAY! I'm so glad you're getting away from your toxic boss!
  18. I've just been considering this. I'm 42 and my cycles have started to be as short as 21 days. I hate it. But I also have not been on bc in 19 years and am not excited about adding hormones into my life. IDK. I need to make an appointment.
  19. FIL is the most unreliable narrator of his life. His last palliative appointment the doctor asked him if he had had any falls or ER visits since the last time. He answers, "Nope!" and then I immediately reply, "Yes, both." 😑
  20. Her gait change might be drop foot from the neuropathy. The loss of sensation causes people to pick their leg up higher and drop the whole foot down in a sort of shuffle march. My FIL has it from diabetic neuropathy. It did take a really big parking lot fall before he would agree to use the walker. I basically had to insist on it but I can be a little more tough love with him.
  21. Aside from Safari to web browse, 1) FantastiCal (calendar) 2) Spotify 3) Music (just the regular apple app) 4) Waze- I do not leave work without checking my route 5) Instagram
  22. I had to give away my sourdough starter years ago because it was too easy to make and eat a loaf of bread. I was rapidly gaining sourdough weight. I have no self control when it comes to bread.
  23. Appreciate the feedback. I think I'm going to delete this now. Would appreciate if you delete my quote. Thanks.
