  1. We have a fairly large homeless population here. California- the weather is livable year round. I do not, ever, hand out cash. We do try to keep food (bars, water bottles) in the car to pass out. One of our local cities requires permits for panhandling, so you will only see one person at a time in certain locations. We have a few great homeless kitchens, too.
  2. Yoga/meditation videos? I used some from Amazon prime for a stretch and it was helpful. I need to do that again. Painting your nails Sitting in the backyard. We bought nice chairs and a fire out about a year ago and it’s so nice to sit out at night, listening to music.
  3. It’s been out in the general public for at least 2+ years. The first I heard about it was my friend whose middle child has ds. With her youngest, who will be 3 in May, the did this test. I thought it was neato because they were able to get the gender super early, too. I think at 12 or 13 weeks.
  4. My dh did that to me! He got rid of our wrecked table that I never had to worry about and replaced it with a nice table that shows every ding. So far he’s bought (ugly) placemats that I put up with. Really, I think the only real protection is table pads and a table cloth.
  5. I’ve really lost your point. Should we list out all the things that we disagree with in a holy text when a prominent figure in that religion dies? Does that sound like something you would enjoy to be on the receiving end of? With eye roll emojis thrown in? Under the banner of “respect?†Surely you could pause for a moment and consider your posts more carefully. And I would like to clarify that I feel several people did attempt to handle their personal feelings respectfully. Others didn’t at all. But for everyone there was at least one comment on things he did that weren’t wrong, they were just him living out his Christian faith. That is what my one sentence response was about.
  6. Internet, washer and dryer. Heat is my dh’s can’t live without, largely for medical reasons. We don’t even have AC, but we live in a place that we can get away with that and only regret it a handful of days a year.
  7. 3k tops on cars w no payment. Yes, we’ve calculated it. 8k is nuts.
  8. It appears that most offensive thing about Billy Graham is that he is a Christian.
  9. We've had 4 repairs since New Years. I feel your pain! SaveSave
  10. No, not unusual. It doesn't happen as often as it used to. We're more of a 10pm crowd now. But we had a group of friends that we used to go into the wee hours with. Our kids would all fall asleep in my bed watching cartoons.
  11. I finally watched it today. At the very end she talks about that bite out of the candy bar and how it haunts her. I actually thought it was a very real moment. She wasn't processing/believing the doctor, she's starving, it's the first minute she's had where she feels like everyone is ok and she can maybe eat something. It makes perfect sense to me. The heart attack scene was too fast for me also, but I think that was totally intentional. They had the rug pulled out from under them. It was sudden, there wasn't enough time to process. We knew his death was coming and at the same time, when it did it was too fast. We didn't have enough time to process or feel all of the feelings that we anticipated we would. In that way, we're having the same experience that they did. SaveSave

“Sorry, xh, but this is between you and ds.â€
  13. CPA? There are a lot of accelerated post-grad programs out there.
  14. I think it goes along with most hospitals going to single beds. I find it impossible to sleep in a hospital, but it's never been because of other people having visitors. Do we really need vitals checked every 4 hours?
  15. In most of our local hospitals, “visiting hours†is a thing of the past.
  16. We had to acknowledge that this was a marathon and not a sprint, so as long as they were stable, everyone slept at home. And staying employed is a priority, too. It’s not easy.
  17. Homeschool classifieds is my go-to. For protection, use paypal and always get a tracking number. Factor in media mail and sell PPD (postage paid delivered). Expect to get 50% of full price.
  18. Dd used to have pretty strong reactions to "normal" low blood sugar. Sounds like that. I think you're making the right call. My dd needed protein to stabilize (after the initial bumping her up with carbs).
  19. My son is going to start receiving in-home nursing care. He shares a small room with us and we don't have the space for a chair. I'm looking for a chair that will fold down, but still be comfortable enough for a nurse to sit in a few hours at a time. It can be an outdoor/camp chair, but I would like it to have some support. If you have a suggestion, I'm open!
  20. People don’t podcast for free. They’re either selling a product or advertising space.
  21. Me, too! I love listening to them talk at the top of the run. They're such a cool little community. The language cracked me up. Um, hello, it's SNOWBOARDERS. Your finger should be ON THE BUTTON. (but personally, I don't care that it slipped through)
