  1. We use sponges, the kind with the scrubby backs. We have two at a time - one goes in the dishwasher with the dirtiest and they swap every time the dishwasher is run. And we rotate in fresh ones regularly. We also use the scotch Brite scour pads... and swap those regularly. I use microfiber cloths for the countertops/stove top... one time use, I have a whole basket of them under the sink.
  2. My advice for Mother of the Bride/Groom attire is think about how you'll be standing in posed photos ( most likely at an angle, not straight on) and what part of you will be in those photos (often not full length) and look for things that will be most flattering for those photos that will be around and maybe on your wall forever lol
  3. I found the dress I wore for my son's wedding at Nordstrom Rack ... in the week of his wedding we had his University Graduation and party, his commissioning, his rehearsal dinner and his wedding. I had to have separate dresses for each of these - one I reused a nice dress I had bought for a cruise. Two i got at Torrid and the last one was the aforementioned Nordstrom Rack with good alterations.
  4. As a Mental exercise. Pretend you have NOT lived in this house for 20 years or whatever... pretend you are MOVING into this house. Make a list of what dedicated spaces your CURRENT life requires (a study for DH, a room for child 1 who partially lives with you, etc) if you were just moving in how would you use this space? Would DH's study he BEST served in its current space or would you do something different if you were starting over? It looks to me like you don't eat in your dining room. Can that space be emptied and reclaimed?
  5. Stay awake until it is bedtime in your destination. Fight through. Don't nap. You'll adjust so much faster. Pack light. Bags are a pain.
  6. Shawthorne is the OP. Moving was the best thing they ever did, except for having a wonderful child. Anything my parents ever did could only be their second greatest accomplishment because the first was clearly ME!
  7. I use mine for everything. I love the vibrating timer/alarm on my wrist. I was without it the other day and hated not having it! Dmmetler - is your treadmill issue because you hold on to the handles? Like the same issue as pushing a cart? If you move the tracker to your pants pocket or ankle it can solve that issue.
  8. We love Ted Lasso, Mythic Quest and For All Mankind. It's one we get for a month or two a year.
  9. Once you have all the recs, maybe meet with a dietitian for some guidance and practical advice.
  10. Bosch with three racks over here. Love it. Super quiet. Works great.
  11. So I volunteer at the museum and have taken on a lot of responsibilities there- I'm the Membership Coordinator and I am on the social media team, and I work at the front desk and I.... I do enough that I was awarded Volunteer of the Year this year. But the museum is not my only gig. I have volunteered with a local organization that serves needy children at Christmas. I've been volunteering there for 7 years. It's dear to my ❤️. I've been asked if I am.interested in being on the Board of Directors. 3 years ago before I joined the museum, I'd have done it in a heartbeat, even though I was still homeschooling at the time. Now I feel torn... I love this organization, I love its mission, i love being a part of it. But I really don't know if I can make rhe commitment in time and energy. Our oldest son and only grandchild are still in the UK and even if they come back stateside they will be far away. I like the freedom to travel to them. Part of me wants to accept. Part says I have enough on plate. Thoughts?
  12. Heck .... I'm in Colorado and got this from a friend in Wisconsin. I'm sorry my -30 windchills aren't "really cold".
  13. It isn't Christmas til someone gets stuck in the Chimney! Time for Christmas break! Cookies and movies and taking it easy.
  14. Often at Christmas restaurants offer gift card promos like "buy a $25 gift card get $5 free" and such... we are doing a big kitchen remodel in January so I'm looking to take advantage of some of these - what offers have you seen?
  15. Most of my instacart delivery folks put all the groceries on my porch, then message me the photo of my delivery after they leave without ringing the doorbell or knocking. They do not want to chat.
  16. Laundry is intimate. Bedsheets and underclothes and towels touch your skin and intimate places.. you wouldnt dig in my underwear drawer (I hope) or get into my marriage bed or use my used towel . It is personal. At least to me. Washing small children's clothing is less intimate and personal (due to their intense need for help and lack of independence) but as they grow it can shift... at least it did for me as my sons grew.older and I didn't want to deal with their gym bags and made them change and wash their own sheets. One of the greatest challenges I've seen with my friends caring for failing, elderly parents has to do with toilet issues and other things that erode those natural personal boundaries. Also... all of the above comments about it sometimes feeling judgmental apply.
  17. One of my kids went through a phase of using cinnamon toothpaste. I thought it was so icky but the brushing was important.
  18. I don't want people doing my laundry. Ever. I don't want you to fold my underwear or my bedsheets or whatever. I really, really don't want my MIL to decide that the hamper next to the washing machine should just get dumped in the washer to "help" - and thereby ruin several handwash only items I had waiting for attention there.
  19. I'm having visions of a sitcom-y scene where you try to measure his head while he's sleeping and end up in some weird and awkward spot just as he wakes.
  20. I have DH, my younger two kids (17 and 21) and a few years ago I started to do stocking for my parents as the majority of their Christmas gift.
