  1. How about "This is a photo of me ...not being at Disneyland" "this is a photo of me not at Musee De. L'orangerie" Here is a photo of my family from two continents not having breakfast together.

I didn't take pics of standing in the rain waiting for taxis lol

  2. On a recent trip we stayed in an AirBnB with a number of issues.

Top 2 issues - listed as 1.5 bathrooms - only 1 bathroom. Washing machine broken during our entire stay necessitated many trips to a laundromat via taxi (traveling with a cloth diapered toddler to a place that was supposed to have laundry) ...we asked for a partial refund, not just to cover cost of laundry and taxis but also the many lost hours of our vacation. You can imagine how mad I was to be in a laundromat when I was supposed to be in Disneyland Paris after traveling 5000 miles.

They asked me for photos today. Photos of the bathroom that doesn't exist? Or photos of the washing machine not working? Seriously.

I hate these people right now.

  3. Hoka do NOT fit me well. I have a narrow heel and they slip terribly for me.

I walk several miles every day so that's a factor.

I currently am wearing a lot of Asics. I mostly roate between my Gel-excite trail runners and my gel-contend runners. They fit me better and if I lace for heel-lock they are really good for me. Brooks often work for me too.

My Keens sandals fit me fine but their hikers did NOT. It's really hit or miss for me. I have some Merrell and Clark options that fit me well too, but they aren't my daily shoes.

You don't just carry it upstairs?

I can't leave it on the floor with the dog.  Is carrying it upstairs more work than turning it off?  I mean, other than the going up the stairs part, but I could just take it when I am already going?

I clearly do not understand this thing at all.

I do carry mine upstairs occasionally but not daily. But you generally don't turn it off. It finishes and returns to its dock where it needs to charge again.  Ours for example runs every day at 10 AM and when it is finished it returns to the dock. With no pets I don't have to empty it daily but I do once or twice a week. It's a set it up and forget about it (other than making sure small items and cords are tidied off the floor)  sort of thing. You don't start and stop it each time.

I just bought a second one (ours are Shark brand) because I wanted a more programmable one so the older one will permanently move upstairs.

I don't have pets but my son does. They were only a little interested in the robot atthe beginning and then ignored it. When a robot vacuum runs into a solid object, it turns away. It won't get itself stuck on the dog.

  5. I have texted my DIL's parents a handful of times when scheduling events where both of us are expected. Also i texted her parents once when she was stung by a bee and was being transported to the ER, because DS asked me to. I exchange Christmas cards with them. Um that's it.

My brother has like Thanksgiving dinner with his son's fiancee's parents. I find that totally weird.

I am friendly with ILs when we find ourselves at shared events but we're not like friends.

I actually had a conversation with my youngest about the thing with my brother and concluded - like if you started dating my best friend's daughter (who he has known like his whole life and who he was horrified at the suggestion that this was possible) then we'd still be best friends and spend time together but that is the only way I can imagine having that kind of relationship.  But I'm a sort of antisocial introvert.

  6. It would appear that the answer is no. I fell and royally screwed up my elbow a couple of months ago. I considered the issues I was having to be tied to swelling and thought they'd disappear once the swelling went down. It improved do I kept saying "if it doesn't get better soon" The swelling went down and my elbow is still not right. And I have still not consulted medical advice. ... don't be me.

  7. We go over every purchase and reconcile to our budget every week and charge basically everything to our card for rewards and tracking purposes . If they were a few dollars off I  might not catch it. If there were extra charges, we definitely would. I dont keep receipts but we do mostly make purchases online (grocery app, Amazon, fast food apps, etc) so they're usually easy to find.

I’m in the camp that thinks that Mac n Cheese would be weird for Thanksgiving, but I definitely wouldn’t verbalize that unless it was presented in lieu of a traditional favorite.  In which case I would be mild.  Like, “Well, I’d miss the mashed potatoes.  Let’s figure out how to have those, too.”

And I am in the I cannot imagine Thanksgiving dinner without macaroni camp loland I don't even like Thanksgiving dinner lol

  9. I've seen it. It wasn't my favorite Marvel film but it also wasn't my least favorite. I adore Kamala (Iman Vellani is AWESOME) and I really like Monica as a character(though i was kind of hoping Monica would open the door for Darcy... cause we can all use more Darcy and their history in Wandavision could have made that happen!). There were elements I liked in the film and things I could have done without ... but I enjoyed it overall.

I think the quick turnover to streaming and lack of forward motion on an interconnected story is really harming the recent Marvel films... seeing a glimpse of where it was going was a huge motivator to go to the theater during the earlier phases (Captain America will return...)

  10. My husband gets up way earlier than I do and I am admittedly unpredictable. If I ask him to, he'll start the kettle but not make the tea... or go grab fast food breakfast if I want him to. But he doesn't really cook anything and I think the French press is not his friend.  But he gets up and empties the dishwasher if it needs emptying and stuff like that.

No. It does not. You mean your car is turned off, and some how it senses that you are leaving the keys behind when you go inside the house?

Yes! If I leave my key fob in the turned off car it sets off an alarm. Both in our 2020 Hyaundai and our 2013 Toyota. Also it will not allow the doors to lock with the keys inside.

I keep my keys in my purse and basically never get them out.

I agree with most things mentioned here. But I haven’t heard this mentioned…

Car fobs that don’t have a key that goes in the ignition! I positively hate them. There is NO advantage at all. My dh has one of these for his car. He throws the fob in the cupholder (or wherever) and then forgets about it because when you turn the car off, there is nothing in your hand to remind you to remove it from the car!

The car doesn't beep wildly if you leave the keys inside? Mine do.

  13. My grandson is in England and I'm in Colroado but he is only 14 months.

So far we find video calling and photo sharing helps. We've visited them twice and DIL and DGS visited us once. And we will see them again in December. I send a couple of new books about once a month. I keep planning to send him an audio recording of some songs but I haven't done it yet.

We were the first people to keep him (in an AirBnB in Dublin) while DS and DIL went out to celebrate their anniversary and we will be keeping him an evening in Paris in December.

In less than a year they should be back on the same continent (DS is USAF) for at least a couple of years.
