  1. This is ridiculous. (as if it were not already) I even agree with the woman's basic viewpoint. But if I worked in government and had the ability to do so, one can believe without question that I would fire her from her job faster than one can spell the word "fire". She can work for her beliefs effectively via other means. Instead, she simply makes a spectacle of herself -- deliberately and relentlessly.
  2. Wish I could find a reference to the following. I remember reading a brief magazine article within recent years about some woman who had a ridiculously large number of identical black dresses hanging in her closet and they constituted her wardrobe.
  3. Oops. Fell for it, didn't I ?! (I see we were visited by a poseur.)
  4. Asperger's is real. Very real. The psychiatry industry did a massive disservice to people by watering down the Asperger's diagnosis to an inaccurate broad label of autism. To call Asperger's "diagnosis of the day" is just as inane as to dismiss ADHD as non-existent. Trying to hold my temper here.
  5. Those for girls remind me of cheerleader outfits.
  6. No hoodie is absurd. It is a lightweight jacket with protection for the head from wind and rain.
  7. I am not familiar with the error demonstrated in (1). "Regardless" is quite clear without making the mistake in (2).
  8. Oh dear. This person lives in Texas. Sigh. . . The Christian world in which my family lives does not go in for theatrics. God can end the world at any moment, on any day, in any year. We are advised to live each day with the remembrance of death, which can occur suddenly, without warning, and without any relationship to when the world as we currently know it comes to an end. We also are advised to live each day with love for, and trust in God. "Give us this day our daily bread" says nothing at all [ ! ] about tomorrow. (from normal commentaries on the Lord's Prayer)
  9. We had three boys in a row. Sizing was difficult because #2 often wore the same size as #1. I used a permanent marker to mark inside a garment with dots. One black dot = Son #1. Two black dots = Son #2. etc. Was easy to add a dot for an "inherited" garment. Boys are far less fussy about their clothing and about hand-me-downs than are girls, best as I can tell. Son #3always thought it was so cool "to go shopping in the garage."
  10. :glare: for verbal sloppiness of all kinds
  11. None in our kitchen. Constitute both clutter (physical and visual) and additional laundry.

    WWYD?

Shifting toward not knowing what to do -- if anything. So long as your dd weathered the interrogation (err. . . "interview") in good spirits, perhaps best to proceed as suggested above: Let it go unless on-the-job nastiness occurrs.
  13. Utterly puzzled. Of course not the same. Never thought it.
  14. Personal opinion: These two threads strike me as "more of the same" instances of many kinds, with parents expecting and demanding whatever they want for "Johnny" and "Susie". Want, want, want. Diminished (or wholly lacking) ability to see someone else have something that they don't also have.
  15. I was unclear. I meant from the store manager, in order to protect local staff.
  16. In today's litigious climate, a call would be appropriate.
  17. He gave up a job at the LC ?!?!?!?!?! This history major plus librarian masters degree would have bounced on her head from Texas to D.C. to hold a job there !!!!!!!!!
  18. I can't hug you hard enough, or long enough. I sheltered our family's beagle in my arms just last month during her final vet visit. Please know that I'm "there for you" in spirit and empathy. <<< HUG >>> i am so sorry you are hurting.
  19. Refusal should come from corporate headquarters, not from low-on-the-totem-pole sales clerk.
  20. I suspect that the store would have printed a pro-abortion flyer without batting the proverbial eyelash. If there is documented evidence that they would not, I should like to see it. The only internally consistent store policy would be to refuse the printing of anything related to a rally, no matter what the subject matter.
  21. Looking great, ya'll ! Wish the DFW meet up had fallen into place. . .
  22. Going to pull out our DVD of "Bringing up Baby"!
  23. Maybe -- after eighteen daughters are born.
