  1. My daughter is graduating in May with her BSN in nursing. Tell your daughter not to be discouraged. My daughter said when she went to view a surgery for the first time they expected a few students to pass out (they were in viewing area) My daughter has seen everything in her clinical rotations from.a women giving birth (and getting to hold newborn baby) to being there when a patient coded, could not be revived and died. She also worked at a facility with children attached to all kinds of machines who lived at the facility. Recovery room nurse infusion nurse at outpatient facility or hospital travel nurse nurse practitioner
  2. I have a family member with almost the exact apartment you are looking for. Apartments of that size/configuration in NYC (not queens, Brooklyn, etc) would rent for around $20,000/month.
  3. We are still subscribing a year later and still loving the monthly boxes!
  4. I am a current subscriber. I canceled my account. I just used a different email and signed up. No issues. I heard about it on Facebook and no one has reported any issue canceling, then re-signing up.
  5. Hulu is now 99 cents/month for the next year!!! If you have an existing account you can cancel and resign up under new email. Happy watching!
  6. Apple pie? We use gf crust and gf flour. Ours has a crumb topping you could substitute the butter with a dairy free option. Nada Moo ice cream is super yummy. Ice cream bar with toppings.
  7. My neighbor did the same thing for a stray cat that they “adopted “. Just a warning though...another critter decided to use the heated house one night (I think it was a raccoon) When it snowed they put the cat in the garage. She also treated the cat for fleas after the cat unknowingly gave her fleas in her house.
  8. I'm making my kids photo books as gifts for the holiday (they are 19 & 22) This is my first time doing this and it's not as easy as I thought. Do you go for a theme? Would it look bad if I just put pictures from over the years I love. My initial thought was to make a book with pictures from a trip we took last year, but then I started adding pet pictures and got carried away. I'm thinking because they are both away at college they might like a book with a range of photos. Thoughts?
  9. I would check out wyzant.com We found a local tutor through the site (my son was his first student, good price, he was a grad student so we tried him out) We also used an online tutor through the site.
  10. Annabelle-my husband and I couldn't agree on how to spell it and so it got nixed. I told my daughter recently that was almost her name, she said she hated it :) Ryan- everytime I asked someone what they thought of the name they said Brian? I'm like no Ryan....I gave up. Nicholas-my mother said everyone would call him Nick not Nicholas and that ruined it for me. My father was a Julian and hated his name.
  11. From my past experience, the au pair agency handles everything. It was not uncommon for girls to leave one home and be placed in another. Our au pair left on a Friday and we had a new one as soon as we wanted.
  12. I had nothing but bad experiences with au pairs. I am not surprised at all that you emphasized driving and she can't drive. You have my sympathies.
  13. We have subscribed to Universal Yums for nearly a year. We like it so much we upgraded to a larger box each month. Each month you get a box of food from a dufferent country. There is also a booklet telling you about each product and the country.
  14. Can we start a Go Fund Me for Scarletts step son so he can go buy as much milk as he wants?
  15. We have tickets for tomorrow at theater with reserved seats. its going to be sold out through the weekend.
  16. Last night I ate some Pirates booty after dinner (I eat it almost everyday), ate a spoonful of peanut butter. Some me time later (maybe 1-2 hours or a little less) my hand started itching. I've dealt with crazy bad eczema in the past but haven't had any in years, so I figured it wasn't that. The palms of both hands were red, itchy and swollen. My fingers felt swollen and itchy (now they just feel swollen, not sure if from salty food) I went to sleep scratching at my hands, woke up to red swollen hands. The redness has finally disappeared. I'm going to buy Benadryl in case happens again. Last year at movies I ate about 4 pieces of popcorn. My arm started to itch. By the time movie was over my neck was turning red and it began spreading up my face. It took 7 days of steroids to get rid of. I eat corn all the time with no issues. I'm too old for this.
  17. My 21 year old daughter has been flying cross country by herself for the past 5 years with no problem. Plane troubles, delayed flights, she's unflappable. She stays at hotel by herself the night before flights, gets shuttle to airport, no problems. Shes staying at school for most of summer doing a research project. No school food options available plus she's gluten free so she takes Uber to food store tonight. She leaves food list in room so she calls me so I can look up recipes she plans on making and remind her what she needs. We are on phone for hour when she suddenly shouts her phone is at 1%, she has no charger and the phone goes dead. I am 2000 miles away, trying to stay calm and wondering if she know what to do. She asked customer service if they had same phone charger she could use (they didn't), asked if they sold chargers (they didnt). She thought about pushing her shopping cart full of food to nearby Marshalls to see if they sold chargers. I finally decided to look up store number and call customer service. I told them I was calling from cross country, my daughters phone died and per chance had she been by. They go, it's your mother on the phone and hand it to her. i order her Uber, track it back to her school and thankfully she called me right away. I said you could have called taxi. She said she never thought of it. Her last resort was to call police for ride home. She said she flies with no problem confident about any issue and she just totally blanked this time what to do. i told her she gave me (more) grey hairs and she is getting a new phone ASAP. Shes going out with a friend for ice cream to relax ?. Kids!!!!

  19. We buy college bedding at thecompanystore.com Lasts through college and forever after.
  20. My daughter just finished her third year of college, gluten free. She had a kitchen for the last two years, but does not cook very much. She mainly makes box gf Mac cheese, gf cookie mix and roasted chickpeas. Her school serves a limited amount of food she can eat. She eats rice bowls, gf pizza and gf pancakes and lots and lots of sushi (new addition this year) Shes not a fan of most gf breads so has eaten hamburgers/hotdogs bun less for years. Some restaurants she just stopped eating at while others like our local subway just got gluten free rolls that are quite tasty. Her friends are good about choosing restaurants she can eat at and she always looks at menu beforehand. its been surprising how many places continue to introduce gluten free options.
  21. We have a local country road I have nicknamed the Indy 500. During rush hour it is scary trying to enter the roadway. I try to avoid this road but sometimes due to construction I need to use it. i wish they would give out speeding tickets, they would make a fortune!
