  1. If she has a fever on the meds id prob take her now or at least make a call with the new symptoms.
  2. We lived at Disney for a while lol. Bahama Bay, Celebration Suites, Seralago...sorry in a rush
  3. My dd9 and ds8 are learning German on duolingo. It is completely free and better than rosetta stone (according to data they collected of end results). It wouldn't hurt to let him try it out.
  4. I am waiting on a call back from my dd6s drs office to find out if they are going to give a referral for her to have a neuropsych eval and an eval with an audiologist. I know that she needs these things (severe language/communication issues). She has already been evaluated for autism and they felt that she didn't fall under that diagnosis even with all those issues. I understand the audiologist more than the neuropsych. Can someone explain what kind of testing is done and what things you can find out from it. I strongly suspect processing disorders.
  5. Thank you! This is for one kid, my dd6. I would like to get her on a routine in the morning with her school instead of running to the tablet, tv, etc. It is hard for me to wrangle them all with 5 kids running in different directions. Right now I just grab her when I can or sometimes she will ask to do school and we will work until she tires of it which is usually 10-15 minutes. I was thinking it would be best to actually take a picture of what im wanting her to sit and do, instead of just a generic "math" or "phonics" picture. Math, for example, she has dvds, flashcards, a workbook and a coloring book. If I have pictures of each of those things I can be more specific, so she will she a pic of the flashcards and she can go get the flashcards and we can do those for 5 min. Maybe the next day I will have her watch 15 min of the dvd. So I would like it to be where I can switch it up. I know I can do this pretty easily by myself by just printing the pictures out and then putting them in order. I was just looking for an easier way to just upload them and print instead of going somewhere to get the pictures printed first. I will look up Boardmaker and look into apps.
  6. I'd like to take a picture of all the book covers/things we are using for school and have a picture schedule. Is there a freebie printable online somewhere, that I can just upload my pics to and print out? I've searched a little, but I'm usually horrible at finding things so I thought i'd ask.
  7. I know that 4..or maybe 3 of my children have a sacral dimple. It has never been any cause of concern. I have never had any mention of the other part though. I just thought Id comment on what I could. I hope you are worried for no reason.
  8. I spent probably $500 on 3 kids this year. I was gifted curriculum in the beginning that we are still using and look for deals on used curriculum. I know its going to go up as they get older. They are in 4th, 3rd, and 1st.
  9. I just wanted to say that I am convinced that I could be diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. I have 5 under the age of 9, three of whom have birth defects that require multiple surgeries, one on the spectrum for autism and one that is convinced her goal in life is to be a human tornado. I swear I turned around and she had a box of noodles early and then I blinked and chased after her to find her seconds later in the kitchen trying to cut her hair with scissors (safety scissors *pat myself on the back*) and then I found the box of noodles dumped out in ds1's bed right before I go to lay him down. How does she do that?? I have done everything you listed. I have had a pediatrician tell me to just put dd6 in public school because they will diagnose her. Please feel free to message me if you would like to talk since our situations are so similar.
  10. We are a family of seven. My kids (age 9 and under) have never been to a movie theater. I honestly just couldn't do it by myself logistically speaking and husband works all the time so he is gone. We used to go out to eat frequently when the older 3 were little and enjoyed it. When I was pregnant with dd4 I almost had a fatal incident happen at a restaurant due to a life threatening allergy that I have. We have never been out to eat since then. I was always very careful, too, and only ate at two restaurants that I was confident in. We probably wouldn't be able to afford to eat out now but it would be nice to take advantage of the kids eat free nights, if it wasn't for the allergy. I feel the need to add that every other month or so I will get the kids fast food at mcdonalds for whatever reason. As of right now, we can get by on a 20 piece chicken nugget for 4.99, a large fry and 4 waters :). In another year or so we will have to get two 20 pieces though...maybe even 2 large fries..gasp. It is a special, special treat when we get happy meals, lol. We don't have a cici's pizza where we live now ($5 for a large), but whenever we are where they have one we always get a few.
  11. Hmm. I also have pain in that same spot that sounds like yours. I do not have insurance so unfortunately right now I cannot have ultrasounds etc. I tend to have cysts show up on ultrasounds when I am pregnant so I was assuming that is what the pain was. Sorry Im really no help, but I am listening in.
  12. Thanks for mentioning The Office. I looked it up and its on Netflix. Wooo! I've seen a few episodes and have liked it as well, although it was slightly annoying too. It's funny to see so many people who do not like Friends. I basically grew up watching Friends so there are certain memories attached to certain episodes. I can watch Seinfeld, but it's not my favorite. Oh, also I loved I Love Lucy growing up but when I watch it now it's more like meh. I really haven't watched any new TV shows since early 2000's so ya know :).
  13. I am honestly not a tv person at all. I do like what I think is The Middle though. The one with Raymonds wife? Lol That is one of the few shows I can watch.
  14. I have no life  and im sitting here watching Friends. It reminded me of a convo between dh and I. I think Friends is hands down the best sitcom of all time. The dh voted for Seinfeld. What do you say? This has to be more entertaining than just watching Friends without a debate  . I have insomnia , so keep the replies coming, :lurk5: .
  15. I voted for Lizzy out of the options. I think Elizabeth Grace is so pretty though. I think I would try to just call her Elizabeth and then call her Elizabeth Grace every once in a while. If you do come up with a nickname it will come naturally, even if you cant decide on anything right now. My daughter, Rosalie, has always been called Rose the majority of the time. My son, Nathan, on the other hand has always been called Nathan. We did call him "Nay-Nay" for short up until about preschool age. I was determined that he wouldn't be called Nate though as I never liked it. We have never, ever called him this and no one else has either, *except* for a lovely uncle and ex sister in law that took it upon themselves to call him Nate. Luckily, we see them...never...so it doesn't matter, lol. My son, Benjamin, was always going to be called Benjamin. I realized after he was born though that it took sooo long to say Benjamin . I threw around every nn in my head including Benson, Benton and finally he has just been Benny. I hated it at first, but it is so cute now for him. I will always introduce him as Benjamin though and that will be what other people will call him (unless he decides differently). Congrats on your new little one!
  16. I am not a fan of anything mandatory. As a pp said, what if they do test positive. Would they then have the right to remove the child from the home and place them in some sort of facility.

    PSA

Just a kind PSA Just because a woman has five kids, it is not ok to assume that she is pregnant again. Grr. I am tiny at 5'2 and 115 lbs. I do admit that I kind of look a little pregnant because my stomach sticks out a little. I could stand to lose 10 lbs, but honestly my stomach will never be flat again unless I have surgery to reattach my stomach muscles. The dr tried to fix it a little during my last csection but he said it was so severe nothing could be done. I also have a hernia which doesn't help things. I have had several people come up and say (strangers in Walmart etc) oh and youre having another one! Umm, no, but thanks. I even had people say this when my son was 5 months old. Why would they not just assume it is left over baby when they see me with a baby that young. I walked into my parents house yesterday and the first words out of my mothers mouth were "oh please tell me you're not pregnant." She is really a lovely person (sarcasm). She hates children. OK rant over.
  18. Ah, the one thing I forgot to add. I had my older three all within three years of each other. I had two that were 11 months apart and then one 12 months later. It was enjoyable and easy. This is even with two of them requiring two surgeries each with a 6 week recovery time and me recovering from csections. We played and my floor was covered in cheerios for 3 years. It was a whole different ball game with older kids (they were 7,6, and 4) and then adding in two more in 18 months. Wow. How exhausting. Now I just didn't have babies, I had older kids with activities, who I was homeschooling. My ds 1 has just now started sleeping at 14 months old. He still doesn't nap, but he has actually started sleeping and only waking up around two times a night. It is crazy how much harder it is dealing with older ones and littles.
  19. I have a 9, 8, 6, 2, and 1 year old. I voted the first year of life, although I would have chosen 0-2 if it was available or maybe 0-3, lol. It is exhausting for me to constantly be mentally "on". Every second you have to watch and be aware. If I daze out for literally 2 seconds, I will come to and realize the 1 year old is about to stick his fingers in the outlet or my 2 year old just ran off with some paint. That said, I agreed to let me 9 and 8 year old stay with their grandparents for what turned out to be a week, due to car trouble and not being able to pick them up sooner. It was sooo quiet and peaceful! I was able to keep the house cleaner than I every had before, which was crazy to me. I always blamed the little ones. My 8 and 9 year old are constantly asking for things though, constantly whining, constantly fighting. I have the stress of doing school with them that takes a lot out of me. This has me concerned that its only going to get worse. lol
  20. I would say the best zoos would be those that had animals that you wouldn't see in every day zoos. I vote for Disney's Animal Kingdom, lol. I love the gorilla's and the hippo pool. I like the tigers, but think that jax zoo has a better tiger exhibit. I love the safari.
  21. It hasn't been an issue for mine either. I was worried at first but it was fine. Dd9 uses a scrap piece of paper to work the problems and then writes the answer in her notebook. In the test and worksheets book there is a page you can copy. It is like graph paper with a box for problem 1 etc if they need that help. I couldn't imagine making that many copies of it, but if you needed to...
  22. If I had a bed and thought she'd actually sleep i'd do that. There have been several times that she comes out at 4 am and lays on the couch with me...or stays awake watching barney while I go back to sleep. Parenting at its finest :).
  23. Ugh. So she is at the stage where if she takes a nap she is up all night. She took a nap today and is still awake! I don't put her down for a nap. She stopped going down for a nap when we moved, I think because it was a new house and new room. She will lay down on the couch if she is tired and falls asleep. I am not really in the position of being able to try to lay her down at a set time everyday. She is the size of a 4 year old and because of health issues, I cannot lift her and take her back to the room and try to make sure she stays in there. I really don't feel like I can keep her awake when she is having a day that she needs a nap either. I feel especially bad because she shares a room with her older sisters and keeps my dd9 up late. Dd9 is a night owl anyway, but there have been times when I know she'd be sleeping if it wasn't for little dd. We are going to have to come up with a solution for that too. DD2 used to sleep in her own room, again before the move. Now I feel like she will be too scared to be by herself again, but I may try it. We will pretty much be out of rooms though. The only place I could put her is in the playroom/school room, but she would honestly destroy everything I have in there and prob stay up all night playing. My second topic is potty training. I have potty trained 3 children, but if anyone wants to give advice id love to hear it, lol.
  24. If it helps when I first read this, I thought you were going to be mid forties lol. 38 isn't too old at all in my opinion or anywhere close. Take into consideration what your dr says but also don't be afraid to get a second opinion. A lot of obs are anti children, anti big family. Ive had 5 csections. I was convinced that I would die during the last two because you always hear that you can only have three but things were fine. Sorry! Im one of those people who didn't look at the date of the original thread, lol. With your new update, I get you on being tired. I am done having children unless we get a surprise one. I just cant do the baby phase or toddler phase anymore. I've had a young one for 13 years now almost constantly. Prayers that you decide and are at peace. I am waiting eagerly for grandkids, lol.
