  1. I work for a state-based think tank that's launching a website to track how their state's legislators vote on legislation. It's a non-partisan project and the goal is to provide more transparency for the public as to who is doing what. I take info from the state's legislator's website (the legislative journal onto which the new info is posted daily) and I enter it on to this other site. I can do the work anytime of day/night and it's very part-time (5-10 hrs/week). I've been told that 4-5 other states are thinking about launching sites as well and there may be a need for more workers. Here's a link to a different state that already has a working site (this isn't the one I'm working on): http://www.kentuckyvotes.org It's pretty interesting work and gives us a fair amount of spending money on the side.
  2. I will definately miss anon posts. While I know that, technically, they were against the rules, when they were posted they were some of the most heart-wrenching and interesting posts.
  3. I have dial-up and even with avators/etc.. turned off it is taking a very long time to go from page to page. To open this "reply to thread" in order to reply to you took so long that I almost abandoned the operation. I've noticed that I'm not reading anything beyond page 2 or 3 on anything (forum or thread) as my patience wears out by then.
  4. This experience has shown me how old I am. I am finding this board changeover to be SOOOOO hard. I feel like I can't cope. WTM was the only board I frequented (mostly as lurker--was Lisa in MI) not just because of all the great people and great conversation (the main reason, of course), but also because it was simple and straightforward and quick. It took far fewer mouse clicks to scan over/read hundreds and hundreds of posts. Now, it'll take me a zillion "next page" clicks to do the same thing. With dial-up, that's not fun. From what I can tell, though, I'm in a definite minority. Most people here seem thrilled with the new style. I salute you! I have envied you for many years (you're the ones able to frequent all the other internet boards on topics of interest out there that I've longed to participate in but were unable to due to my simple-mindedness). As an old dog I'm not sure I'll be able to spend as much time on these boards as I have in the past. (Tears roll down my cheeks as I say this.) I've loved this board and it is dear to my heart. Thank you, everyone, for encouraging me and helping me in so many, many ways over the past few years.
  5. Amen! It was so much easier before to scroll down and jump into conversations wherever I wanted to. It was much more intuitive.
