Mom of 1 dd. Homeschooling 10 years.
  1. Can someone please help my dd with Lesson 8, problems 29 and 30. We have asked numerous people and no one seems to have a clue. Here is problem 29. if a * b = a - 3b and a # b = 2a + 3b, evaluate the expression (4 * 3) # 5
  2. What do you do to get your required high school health credit?
  3. Anyone else please! I've only gotten 1 response.
  4. I have a post on the High School board and I haven't gotten any responses. Could you please pop over there and see if you can help me? Thanks!
  5. I don't know what to do about English. I am trying to decide between Rod & Staff 9/10 and Abeka Grammar & Comp. III. We used Rod & Staff until 6th grade. In 7th we didn't do a program. Last year for 8th we did Easy Grammar Plus. My dd complained so much about Rod & Staff, so that is why we took a break from it. She wants to try Abeka this year, but I have never seen Abeka's English so I don't know if it is good or not. One thing I really want to know is if there is enough writing in either of them so we don't need a seperate writing program. We have tried Writing Strands in the past and my dd complained about that too. She doesn't really want a seperate program, and according to my 1st edition WTM it says if you use one of these you don't need a seperate writing program. Do you agree with this? If you suggest that we shoud use a writing program, can you please suggest one? She also wants to do Spanish this year. What do you recommend for Spanish? She has been looking at Living Language. Anyone know anything about this? Also, what do you suggest for the required health credit other than a health text. She has done Abeka health for at least 4 years, so she doesn't need a standard health text. Sorry, one more question. We are thinking of using the DIVE cd for Physical science along with the Abeka text. What do you think of the DIVE cd's. Thank you so much!
  6. The wedding is for our nephew. It is Friday at 4p.m. The wedding and reception will be outdoors at the home of the bride. My dd and I are wearing cute summer dresses. My dh has asked some other male relatives what they are wearing and he got respones such as dress slacks, jeans and even shorts. It will be about 83 outside. So, what could he get away with?
  7. I just purchased Suave Keratin shampoo and I cannot believe how well it works. My hair is frizzy if I let it air dry, or if I blow it dry. I have to flat iron it if I don't want frizzies. With this shampoo I can get away without the flat iron. And it is less than $5 a bottle.
  8. My 9y.o. black lab is starting to show signs that her hips are hurting her. What have you found that you can give your dog that really helps? We feed her food with glucosomine in it, but I'm sure there isn't a very high content. Should I give her glucosomine supplements, or is there something else that works better? Please try to give me specifics if you can. My dog and I thank you!
  9. My 13y.o. dd wants knock-off Uggs for Christmas. Are there any that you can recommend that are not totally cheap that will last at least a few years? My mom wants to buy them and said she would like to spend $50 or less. Also, if you have any, did you buy true to size?
  10. I have had the Allure flooring from Home Depot in my kitchen for almost 2 years and I love it. It still looks like it did the day we put it in. We have a black lab and a cat and it doesn't have scratches (or you can't see them). We have the tile look, not the wood look.
  11. Happy Birthday!!

  12. If you want a list of all the Disney movies go to http://www.disneymovieslist.com/disney-movies.asp
  13. I know this should be on the curr. board, but this board is busier and I need help. My dd will be in 7th grade next year. We have used Horizons Math for K-6. What do I use for 7th? Should I use the new Horizons pre-algebra? Horizons has worked for us. But I would kind of like to find something that continues until 12th so we don't have to switch again. Yesterday we were looking at our Rainbow catalog to see what else is out there and we came across Life of Fred. My dd really wants to try this. I am concerned that this doesn't look like a stand alone program. Can anyone that uses this please comment. Whatever program you may suggest to me, can you tell me what level we should use?
