  1. May I ask why you're switching from Biblioplan to wayfarers? I'm considering both [emoji4]
  2. Biblioplan has all kids on one level Homeschooling mama of 4... Preschool 3, preschool 4, 1st, and 2nd:)
  3. I read through TC and remembered thinking it was too advanced for my 3rd grader... But I do love it! Homeschooling mama of 4... Preschool 3, preschool 4, 1st, and 2nd:)
  4. I had considered for my 3rd grader: WWE, ELTL, or IEW bible Heros. Homeschooling mama of 4... Preschool 3, preschool 4, 1st, and 2nd:)
  5. English Lessons Through Literature Homeschooling mama of 4... Preschool 3, preschool 4, 1st, and 2nd:)
  6. I think if OP found it important to begin FLL in 1st grade (which is fine, I did too) she probably isn't interested in taking a year off. Seems counter productive. Grammar Land and Sentence Family are both gentle as well. R&S might work too. Homeschooling mama of 4... Preschool 3, preschool 4, 1st, and 2nd:)
  7. ELTL Homeschooling mama of 4... Preschool 3, preschool 4, 1st, and 2nd:)
  8. What programs are OG approaches? Is AAR? Homeschooling mama of 4... Preschool 3, preschool 4, 1st, and 2nd:)
  9. This is my EXACT situation (almost). Finishing up adventures and debating if I move to ECC with my to-be 2nd, 3rd graders with my K tagging along (I also have a preK...). I have done mfw 3 years now and I want to love it but I have cut so much out that wasn't working for us that it's a hefty price tag for only bible and social studies. I personally am considering either biblioplan or just using sotw on its own. I might move back to ECC the following year... Maybe. I've considered hod but it's a lot of reading... It's not very independent in the early grades and I'm not sure at what point it becomes so. For my to-be 3rd grader I was looking at Bigger for next year. Homeschooling mama of 4... Preschool 3, preschool 4, 1st, and 2nd:)
  10. Curious which program you preferred? I use LoE and I feel like it's not got a lot of review or spelling involved...
  11. I'm in the same boat. I think RLTL teaches reading and spelling together. So do a lot of other programs that believe spelling is the precursor to reading (SWR, etc). I think it's fine to separate them and I have in the past. I'm considering RLTL though.. Homeschooling mama of 4... Preschool 3, preschool 4, 1st, and 2nd:)
  12. So does OPGTR teach the broad vowels? Like /a/ in father? Homeschooling mama of 4... Preschool 3, preschool 4, 1st, and 2nd:)
  13. Is it easy to follow? Or does it work like 100 EZ? I hate the layout of that book for some reason! So confusing! Is OPGTR a simple layout to follow? Homeschooling mama of 4... Preschool 3, preschool 4, 1st, and 2nd:)
  14. You guys are SO helpful. Love it! I'm down to AAR/AAS or RLTL. I guess I need to go by trial and error and just buy one because I honestly have looked at all the samples and I like that RLTL seems like a combo of AAR and AAS and might seem more straight forward. But I also like the tried and trueness of AAR/AAS and how thorough it is. Maybe that's a topic for a new post, but do you guys have any parting opinions on whether you'd pick AAR or RLTL? Homeschooling mama of 4... Preschool 3, preschool 4, 1st, and 2nd:)
  15. I am very interested in AAR and AAS... it seems i keep getting conflicting opinions on it being easy to use vs difficulty with so many parts and pieces... people say they left it due to it taking so much time and feeling like it was just too many pieces. so you all are saying AAR/AAS can in fact be simplified?
  16. Thanks! How long are the lessons? Do you think it's easy to do RLTL with several students in different levels?
  17. Ellie I like R&S... I wish there was a workbook page daily... So not to copy so much. The copywork would be an issue... Homeschooling mama of 4... Preschool 3, preschool 4, 1st, and 2nd:)
  18. I've wondered about this. Can you use AAS without all of the extras... You make it work... So you just use the book and have him write things out? Have you ever compared AAS or AAR to RLTL or ELTL? Just curious how they compare.
  19. I have been using logic of english foundations A-D and just started Essentials. we don't like it. I am considering RLTL, ELTL, CLE, FLL/WWE, Easy Grammar, IEW bible heros... as you can see i am floundering :( i need your help. i am looking for easy to use, fairly open and go, something that will just get DONE by this busy momma (I have an upcoming 3rd, 2nd, K, and preK next fall). I like the all-in-one aspect of CLE but I recently looked at it at my homeschool conference and it is just so intense... i would for sure have to put my son in level 2 and i feel like it might just be too much for him. for that reason i love FLL/WWE due to the nature of the oral discussion, but he really does need written exercises too, he learns best with a combo of auditory/visual. i am aware FLL 3 has a workbook but we would be starting at FLL 2... any RLTL users? how easy is it to use? do you like it as a spelling program? ELTL users? same question, is it fairly open and go? i am worried about all the reading... i drop the ball a lot on read alouds (i know...) and i am worried that having to read the chapter will get to be too much... i was considering the Easy Grammar with IEW or even putting Easy Grammar as a supplement to FLL so he has something to practice... thoughts? I want to consider AAR but I just think it would be too parent intensive... and I've read RLTL is an easier to use version of AAR? I know I have posted about this a lot lately, please forgive me!

  21. This is my thought. I feel like I am floundering! You feel that AAR is open and go? And easy to do with multiple kids? It's promising that you use it with 3... How much time do you spend per day per child? Do you also use AAS?
  22. Thanks! What is HOP? Homeschooling mama of 4... Preschool 3, preschool 4, 1st, and 2nd:)
  23. I need something that will get done. I've used logic of English but it's not doing the job anymore. It was great with one kid but now three... I find we aren't getting to it. I like it though but trees not enough reading or spelling practice. I'm looking at all about reading, learn to read (CLE), spell to write to read... I'm taking suggestions! What would you use for a busy family? Homeschooling mama of 4... Preschool 3, preschool 4, 1st, and 2nd:)
  24. What is OPG? Homeschooling mama of 4... Preschool 3, preschool 4, 1st, and 2nd:)
  25. Would encourage the "we remember" for year 2? That's the new younger companion. I wonder if doing that and sotw is too much. So you liked the BP better than doing sotw by itself with AG? Homeschooling mama of 4... Preschool 3, preschool 4, 1st, and 2nd:)
