  1. I looked for Kaplan CRCT workbooks, are those still in print?
  2. Which CRCT workbooks are the best? The teacher recommended Coach workbooks. When I checked the site, and they have more than one workbook per subject, so it's hard to tell which ones are the best.. I can not find any online reviews. I have also seen Spectrum, and American Book Company. Can someone offer some advice? It is a must in the spring because we joined a charter school. Here is the link for ABC books that I found. http://www.americanbookcompany.com/GA/index.html
  3. One reason I am wasting my time is to get the item removed from my husbands credit report. Blemishes can cause consumer to pay higher than normal deposits, and higher than normal insurance rates. It can affect your life in more ways than one. Once we had a collection agency call us every thirty minutes over a credit card bill we paid in full on a closed account. it took a lot of time and patience to get the collection agency to stop calling, and not have it show up on our credit file. We have a friend who had a collection agency attempt to collect on a debt that was from a 5 year old discharged bankruptcy. In this case the collection agency tried to take her to court to get a judgement against her. I found that shocking. Sometimes you can't just ignore them, you have to confront them.
  4. No I didn't mention paying them I dime. i did sent the first letter by certifed mail, and the next letter will also be sent the same way. This is a local collection agency and they are like sharks.
  5. I know this will sound like we are dead beats and don't pay our bills. Over 7 years ago, my husband had to go to the hospital, and the bill was over $6,000. We made arrangements to pay the hospital in weekly payments, they excepted our payment arrangements, and we paid faithfully every week. About 90 days later we recieve a bill from a collection agency. It was explained to us that it does not matter if the hospital did agree to take payments or that we paid on time, this is how things are done. I refused to deal with them, because it didn't matter how much I would pay the collection company they would still flaw my husbands credit report. Recently I got a bill from them after many years, and the statue of limitations has expired on the bill. I wrote them a letter stating I dispute the bill, the statue of limitations has expired, don't contact us again. They send us a computer print out of a bill, that does not even state what the bill is for, and it does not even have my husband's signature stating the bill is valid. We do not have funds to hire and attorney otherwise I would. Why do collections agencies insist on attempting to collect expired debts? the language I used in my letter was fairly strong, and I just typed out another letter that is just as strong about not contacting us again. Anyone ever have this sort of experience?
  6. Has anyone received their's yet? Just wondering. I remember filling the info out online thinking they would be here before Septemember, but nothing yet.
  7. The different types being taught to young children is what threw me for a loop. I think children are being exposed at a much earlier age than they should be.
  8. I don't have a link, google it and all sorts of stuff will come up. I am pretty sure it is state wide.
  9. Am I just prudish? Someone told me about this new curriculum plan, and I must admit I found it not suitable for children. I can not even repeat what is in this new plan. Is this really where education is headed?? I found it perverted, and I am not an overly religious person. Is it just me?
  10. This may have too many carbs, but what about Socal protein+fiber? It is made out of hemp and some other stuff, and it does not taste that bad. I have found it is the only fiber that does not give me gas, or keep me in the bathroom plus it really keeps the hunger away. I only use half a serving not a full serving, and I was very suprised when I tried it. It is expensive, but they do have sales, I think it is marked down to $28 right now.
  11. The owner is the only person I allow to cut my family's hair. I did call her and am going to see her first thing in the morning.
  12. Normally I would call. I won't call this time, because she did mention she would be making a job change to another location. I don't want her last few weeks at this location to be uncomfortable.
  13. You are right I did pay a lot. There is nothing I can do except shave my legs. I am really shocked. I expected to have hairless legs. I did not use lotion, and she did clean my legs before hand too, so I am unsure what went wrong there. I do know she was running a little behind, and I think she rushed the eyebrows.
  14. Ladies please tell me how long before it will be back to normal? I am a little bit upset. I let a young lady talk me into an eyebrow wax a couple of month ago. I explained that I didn't pluck or wax, so not to go overboard. The first time I was not disappointed, it looked very natural, good but natural. Next go around I just had the lip wax. I decided this time to get legs, eyebrow and lip. I didn't check everything over before I left, and I am home and want to cry. One eyebrow is thinner than the other, so now I want to hide. Not sure what happened to my legs, but they feel like they do a day or two after a good shave, the hair is still there. So I went growing the hair out for three weeks unable to bare my legs outside of home to not be impressed. It was not all that painful. How could she not notice the hair was still there? I am sure she felt it when she put the cream on afterwards. I was looking so forward to smooth legs and now just want to cry. I always tip good because I know some people don't and I hope I can help out in a small way. In the past I tipped this girl 50% twice before. I tipped 40% today. In her defence, maybe she was running behind, or was not quite prepared this morning. Either way, I am displeased. She will be leaving this place, so it is not like I have to book another appointment with her or anything like that. I am too embarassed to call and tell them of my displeasure. I don't care about the legs, I can shave those, but my eyebrows, I will have to use a pencil just to go grocery shopping, and I rarely wear makeup. I don't even care about the money so much, I have made unwise purchases in the past. I am one of those self conscious people. Can someone please make me feel better? Do you think my eyebrows will be back to half normal in about 4 weeks or do you think it will take at least six or eight?
  15. I have always viewed tunics as a type of shirt, not a dress. Too, it would depend on the type of leggings as far as matching them with a tunic, I personally woul dnot match them up with footless tights.Today in a catalog they have a picture of a little girl wearing a sweater vest with leggings, the type of leggings that look more like footless tights. There did not appear to be anything underneath the sweater vest. I am a little shocked this was suggested as an outfit. Here is the picture: http://www.thecompanystore.com/Sweater-Vest-with-Scarf/10192,default,pd.html?start=2&q=sweater%20vest
  16. Sorry if I left something out here, I am in a rush today, because we are going out of town tomorrow morning. I got an email from Apples & Pears, and wanted to share some info. They estimate it to go to up to about a 6th grade level. So if you plan to continue spelling afterwards, use your best judgement. Keep in mind this is an estimate, so it may be above or below slightly. Also, in level 4 there will be some British spelling in some of the words, so be on the lookout when using level 4. It is really not that big a deal. It is not cost effective to produce several different versions for various parts of the world for them. So there is no US version, there is only one version. I am just glad they print out and ship in the US, instead of asking people to pay for international shipping. I believe that is about all they said. We really like this program, and will continue to use it. I will not tell tell my child they can not spell if they prefer to spell words like grey, colour, favour and such. I hope this info helps someone.
  17. :grouphug: I have no suggestions. I know how you feel. Times are tough for many people right now.
  18. I sent them an email, I hope to hear back from them by next week. I know this program is well respected, there are lots of people in the US using it, and we love it. I am wondering if we are not turning our kids into UK spellers? Or if they will end up spelling some words the UK way, and some the US way. I don't want this to cause problems later down the road.
  19. I knew it was UK curriculum when I purchased. I thought I read on this boardsomewhere that there was an US version with US spellings. I can not find an email on their site to send an email, and I don't want to make an international phone call, just to ask.
  20. Someone please tell me what I must have done wrong. When I purchased I did click USA, and I did pay with USD$. so how did I end up with the UK edition? I was just looking in book d to see what kids of words were in the book. I should have looked more carefully earlier. They must have sent me the UK version instead of the US version. I had no idea! It spells words this way like favour, colour. Is there only a UK version? We are only on book b at the moment. It was just easier to order all books at once for me. I was trying to figure out why they used the term morpheme instead of prefex and suffix. So far we do like this program, and plan to continue. Someone please say something. Also, I am curious, I se nothing about grade level, and want to know where to go in spelling after we complete all the books.
  21. Yes, he i in the ARMY National Guard, and ROTC. After his first 3 years full time Army, he left that as a Sgt. He then went to college, transfered to National Guard, and joined ROTC. He just finished ROTC, but has a little college to go. I was unaware recruter's would be recruting. He will be a lieutenant once he is comissioned, or is now not sure. i do think he would need a new vehicle, if he went to Alaska. I am not sure his truck is a 4wd. His truck is paid for, and he is not one who likes to owe money for anything. But that is just a minor detail, he could afford a truck payment. He also loves hockey, so that one thing that would make it that much more appealing for him.
  22. Wow just wow! Sounds like he would like it there. Possibly it was the recruiter who left an impression on him? Maybe that recruter was a salesman in disguise? Or possibly Alaska is not on everyone's top list of bases to be stationed at? The recruiter basically told him he could have his pick of jobs should he go to Alaska. I am pretty sure he would also have a housing allowance of some sort too, to help with high rent cost. There is certainly a lot to think about, and I believe there is time to consider options. I think he would actually enjoy it there.
  23. Yes, he is looking at several options, including Europe. He loves adventure though.
  24. No not me. My single son is considering moving there. I have heard good things from an uncle-in law about living there. Tell me about what is it like. I am not sure what area, but it would be where one of the military bases are located. What is it like driving in the winter? Hunting is good, but what else is there to do? He likes to get out see and experience the world. He is not into the bar scene. He is such a people person and loves meeting people. How is the dating scene there? I don't think he wants to go there to get far away from family, but to have a nice place to live. This is just one of his options, and someone has sold him on the idea of Alaska. Tell me what do you love about Alaska? What do you hate about Alaska? If he moves there, the whole family will have to visit, but during the summer months. I don't want to be shelfish and tell him not to move because I want him next door.
