  1. I know I'm a little late to the party, but I would highly encourage you to start Latin exposure. You might be happy with Latina Christiana by Memoria Press (despite the name, it's actually pretty secular if you don't have her memorize the different prayers/songs in Latin--they're not actually part of the course, just an add-on). There is a DVD set, so it would be largely independent work for her. It's aimed at 3rd graders, so it might be a good fit. Otherwise, SongSchool Latin is worth looking into, but aimed at the k-2ish crowd.
  2. I apologize in advance for how scattered this will be. I posted it in another forum, but think I might get more responses here. Our oldest is 2e (profoundly gifted w/Asperger's), and I'm trying to come up with a rough idea of his middle and high school math sequence. At this point, we are thinking we will use Foerster's for algebra I, II, and Pre-Calculus and probably Jacob's for geometry. For calculus (which is the least firm at this point), I'm looking at Thomas', AoPS, and several others in addition to Foerster's. I'm basically looking for general guidance on the above and also trying to decide if we need to do a 6th grade math at all. I'm hoping that a thorough go through Lial's BCM will be enough to bridge the gap from 5th to Foerster's, but would love to hear others' thoughts on this. I just ordered a copy of BCM, so I haven't been able to review the scope and sequence. Specifically, does anyone have any experience moving from an accelerated pace in abeka arithmetic to Lial's BCM? My son is in 4th now, so we could still do something else for 5th (and sixth if needed...). Abeka is all we've ever done for math (paired with abeka grammar, spelling & poetry; Scott Foresman science; and MP for Latin, history, classical studies, composition, Christian studies, and literature). I'm open to any suggestions or insight you all may have for moving forward from here. Thanks in advance!

He's in 4th now, so I'm not married to abeka for 5th; it's just what we've used so far (paired with abeka grammar, spelling & poetry; Scott Foresman science; and MP for Latin, history, classical studies, composition, Christian studies, and literature).
