  1. Thanks for the input. It seems too easy, guess I should be happy. We're not VA residents, so no proof needed there.
  2. My daughter decided kind of at the last minute (ok, really at the last minute!) to apply to Va Tech--got her app. in just before midnight last night, their deadline. I cannot find any good information on what I need to mail in, aside from a brief statement about mailing in official or unofficial transcripts, which is not specific to homeschoolers. In speaking with them at a local college fair they were very homeschool friendly, stating what a great experience they've had with homeschooled students. Is it possible that this is all they want? Her transcript is filled with 3 semesters of CC classes, so maybe they won't care about course descriptions from 2 years ago. I am trying to get together this last information this weekend, so while I can call Monday morning, I was hoping someone on here will let me know what they did, I know I saw some Va Tech acceptances on the accepted thread. Thanks!
  3. The writing is separate from the main application. Once it's submitted you get a link to use to do the essay(s)
  4. I only found this site this past year, and didn't post much, but I gained some invaluable information from these forums! My daughter applied to 7 (or 8?) schools, was accepted with Presidential scholarship to her safety school, University of New Haven, and yesterday got accepted to her 1st choice, University of Pittsburgh! The rest will likely come in the spring.
  5. Nevermind, I finally found the answer to this, I knew it was somewhere on these forums! Related question...we can upload 4 documents, so the homeschool transcript, plus, I have a community college transcript , and a high school transcript for the single semester she was in public high school. Then for the fourth, is that where I would upload the document I have with homeschool (not comm. college) course decriptions, which includes the reading list at the end of each course? Or is there another place for this?
  6. For the Common App, as "school counselor" I am supposed to upload transcripts. So I simply upload official transcripts from the Community college? Is there anything else I do for that part? And the grades from the end of this semester, do I have the college send them directly to all the schools or do I get the updated transcript and upload that when it's ready? Thanks!
  7. My daughter is meeting with a teacher on Tuesday before the teacher writes the recommendation, not sure how long that will take! Good to know I'm not alone. Still trying to figure out where the darn part is for me to get invited as her counselor. My name and email is in the app. but don't know how to get the email sent to me before the app. is submitted. (edited to add that I finally found it!) Heck, I'm still working on finsihing course descriptions, luckily she was only fully homeschooled for 3 semesters before starting dual enrollment classes. Guess she learned procrastination from me.
  8. I've seen a few people mention doing course descriptions for dual enrollment classes; I had thought that I would do course descriptions for the homeschooled/home-graded classes, but not for the single semester she spent at public high school, or for the almost 2 years of dual enrollment classes. Do they really want them for classes taken at accredited institutions like community college?
  9. You're not alone....just joined here (though have been reading for ages) because we're just doing it now too.
