  1. I'm not the poster who wrote, but I think what she means if she has something like a 10K annual deductible, it will bankrupt her the same as something like a $100,000K medical bill would. We don't have an ongoing $8,000-$12,000/year to spend in premiums as well as $12,000/year OOP max were something dreadful to happen and need medical follow up year after year. For some a 10K OOP max annually might as well be a $100K annual OOP max, because if one doesn't have an extra $10K/year for medical care after expensive monthly premiums they just don't have it.
  2. Google capsule wardrobe. Basically, have a few base neutral good quality pieces, some elements of layering as needed, and some accessory pieces and shirts that have pops of color that look good on you. I have not mastered the capsule wardrobe, but would like to do so.
  3. Now I know what yo make for Christmas and give to my friends that like to camp. Tx.
  4. Also, in response the above comment, if the code mistakingly is used to confirm the MD asked about school, why doesn't the code get applied to public schooled kids? The staff specifically said public schooled kids don't get a code.
  5. Yes, you are right. My instinct is Rambo, but waiting to hear back and see if there is a correction is the best approach. If it is indeed a fraud, then maybe one step at a time seeing if baby steps resolves the issue. Media is the extreme.
  6. As someone said above, please get this word out to local homeschoolers! Ask on any local or state homeschool media site if they attend this practice and make them fully aware what the staff told you about the problem code on every homeschooler's record. Write a review of this practice on social media stating this MD office catorigorizes all homeschoolers with an educational problem code. I am not an HSLDA fan, but please report it to them. They thrive on fighting these things, and will likely contact their members in the area to see if they have fallen victim to the same thing. Please tell your insurance company and the medical board that the staff told you they give this code to every homeschooler. If you have a connection to the local news or a friend with a connection, see if their investigation department is interested in publicizing this fraud, after an investigation, of course, and seeing if other homeschoolers want to come forward and voice their children received false coding on their medical record. ETA, better advice below is wait and see. Use above advice for extreme measures. I would at minimum contact local homeschoolers who may use this practice to check for this code filed on their records. With the staff saying they know the code is there and it is applied to all homeschoolers makes me think ill intentions instead of innocent mistake.
  7. I personally enjoy shopping on my own when I am shopping for something specific. Going out shopping just for fun, buying something at random if I happen to find something I like, is different. If you are like me, you can just say you don't like shopping with a personal shopper. You can state you prefer to shop on your own when you buy business clothes. If you want to still do something fun with her, see if she wants to join you going out for a night on the town or a fun shopping spree for everyday clothes . Responses above are great, this is just another angle.
  8. I may be in error, but I don't fret over grades in elementary school. Grades are take home evaluations so parents can know how children are performing in school and show areas that need improvement, IMO. I don't see why homeschools in some districts are required to submit grades since the parents know how the child is doing and know what improvements are needed. Our curricula isn't traditional stuff with tests and quizzes, plus I have my children correct their answers or verbal output as we go along. I had to do Outstanding, Satisfactory, or Needs Improvement for K-2. Starting 3rd grade it is A-F. For subjects my children give great effort, participate with a good attitude, and master the material they get As. For subjects they have great effort, participate with a good attitude, may have struggles, but still show progress they get Bs. I don't allow poor effort or bad attitude, but if they had poor effort and a negative attitude against my will, they would get lower grades. They do not yet know I assign grades. I only do it because my district requires I submit grades. Around 6th or 7th grade, I plan to start more objective means of grading like written tests, online courses, or homeschool tutorial classes.
  9. We keep some type of collection of poems book going all the time. Currently, we are loving Julie Andrew's Collection of Poems, Songs, and Lullibies. We start our school day reading one or two of the poems. If the selection of the day is lyrics to a song, we look the song up on the Internet and play it, usually via YouTube. We have learned so many new to us/older classic songs going through this book. I have a few shorter one author poetry books that I read instead when we want a change of routine for a few days. I also have my children memorize and recite a poem every couple months if we aren't drowning in other things.

Op, you're singing my song. We kept dh on his work's insurance. He has pre existing things and needs ongoing insurance. Kids and I are in a Christian medical sharing group. We could not have afforded to keep us all on regulat insurance. If we didn't meet requirements for the Christian medical sharing group, we would have had to rebel and go without. Would have planned to pay monthly payments to the hospital indefinately if something major were to happen. Isn't that what people did before medical insurance? IDK. I want to be a responsible citizen, but I can't pay more to insure us in case something happens than I pay to feed, clothe, and shelter us.

  12. hello. This is my first post after lurking a long time and finally have an account and a bit of free time. I am anti-facebook in most cases. How could facebook know people are using their full legal names or true birth dates? Or how could they know that the FB friends aren't pages set up for people's pets? Surely they couldn't look at my possible list of friends and see that John Doe is really Jonathan Micahel Donner who lives at 654 Summer Dr. and has 123-45-6789 for a SSN? Even how do they know John Doe's birthdate is really 1/5/1995? Therefore, how could they run a credit check on one's FB friends unless those FB friends publish their credit score on the FB page or dumb enough to do a free credit score that is made public and linked to FB in some way?
