  1. Thanks for the thoughtful discussion on the Walgreen's thread. Sorry to put this here, but I got a notice that you couldn't receive messages. Anyway, good conversation and questions. Have a good week.

  2. First day of college classes. Text from ds: "I know I am in the right field of study when I get excited just looking at the syllabi."

  3. Ds just sent a photo of himself and our favorite French exchange student. Completely unexpected visit!

  4. Delighted to have our Spanish exchange student return for the third year.

  6. Seattle Shakespeare and their student matinee coordinator are the absolute best. Boy do I love that company!

We've been invited over for cocktails too. BYOB, but the firepit is awesome ;-)

I'm presuming it's not to exchange different varieties...how was the wording? I have never heard of this before! Do you have allergies?

  8. Kudos to Seattle Shakespeare for Mother Courage and Her Children!

Gasp! I missed it (we are booked through Sunday). Glad you got to see it.

  9. Joshua Feurstein needs a WTM education. Let's start with a logic class.

Is this the guy with the Starbucks red cup issues?

  10. Took ds, 17, to see opening night of Woolf's Orlando. Second nude scene this school year. Yay! Score one for mom!

It's the story of our homeschooling career. During the first year, the boys informed dh that "gladiator" had a phallic meaning, according to the Time/Life documentary we had watched that day.

  11. Started home SQ fluids for my old cat. Not my favorite thing. Hug a vet tech today.

    1. Matryoshka

      Matryoshka

We just did this for our old cat. He had 3 days at the vet with IV, then we went through 3 bags of the SQ at home before we gave up because his kidneys just weren't keeping up. Hugs to your old kitty!

  12. Kudos once again to Seattle Shakespeare! So worth the drive.

  13. I wish we had run with Derek Owens for math earlier in Sailor Dude's high school career.

We just started Physics, and dd LOVES it. It's her favorite subject, and the one she wants to do if she has extra time on the weekend.

He's amazing. I was just re-reading the LoR he wrote for DS. Wish I could hug the man.

  14. Our Spanish student left today. I am really going to miss him.

  15. Sailor Dude is in Cape Cod for a regatta. 9 teen boys in a guest house, no host family, just a nanny. Not sure what to think about that.

    1. Chrysalis Academy

      Chrysalis Academy

Well, if the nanny is a young hot au pair, I'd be terrified. Nanny Mcphee? Not so worried!

I was thinking a Manny might be a safer bet, too!

  16. Sun, sun, go away! This native PNWer is positively wilting and besides, I have woodwork to paint.

Yup, it can go away now. I think we've even completed our summer bucket list because the sun showed up so early. Is it fall yet?

Crazy hot! I can't believe I'm going to say this but, yeah, I'm ready for some cooler weather.

      Sahamamama

I wish the sunny weather would come to the rainy-summer East Coast. So cloudy here, it's driving me nuts.

  17. Happy Fourth of July! Blues Fesival tonight after the sun goes down.

  18. I don't think diving into a river while wearing jeans, cotton sweatshirt, and PFD, to help a distraught young sailor who turtled his boat is what the physical therapist had in mind when he said ds could start light recreational swimming.

They are both fine. It was faster than grabbing a coach boat, I guess. Turtles are hard to fix when you are little.

  19. I really wish our young male cat would not remove documents from the printer.

    1. SparklyUnicorn

      SparklyUnicorn

Ah yes..my male cat eats paper. My son could claim he attempted to eat his homework. I've seen it. He slashed through his assignment notebook too. Crazy cat.

It's from Henry IV. Class that day was about Shakespearean language and the kids were posting insults. I have the mug!

  21. Another roadtrip and terrific performance by Seattle Shakespeare Company

It's really helping us to clarify what it is that ds wants. There is so much out there I had no idea existed.

  23. What's the deal with cats and nativity scenes?

    1. porque

      porque

I am not sure but our cat destroyed our nativity scene over the years by knocking the pieces down one by one!
