  1. I wouldn't share with the co-op....perhaps with a friend, but not a group. I have an expensive (for me) Stereoscope and in a couple of years hope to buy a very nice Microscope..... also a Telescope. I will not be sharing. I'm mean that way. :D
  2. And I might say the same...the poll is silly, the site is silly, your fascination with my self-identity is silly...... who cares? I consider myself Christian....most people in the world do not.... I personally don't care what you or anyone else thinks. Let.It.Go. "Work out your own salvation"..... not mine. :001_smile:
  3. I have been ripped apart on message boards when I've said that I was a Christian Scientist. Some people think that Christian Science is Scientology.... nothing could be further from the truth. Others feel that because we are noncreedal (that's not a word, is it?) that we aren't Christian. I grew up where mentioning that I was a Christian Scientist caused Mothers to clutch their children to them (my friends) and forbid me from ever playing with them again...... or caused such a gasp of horror that it was obvious that they felt I was going to hell or something. :001_huh: It is self preservation that makes me wary and causes me to word things in a "nonoffensive" way. Am I denying my Christianity..... not hardly. I have no problem with who I am and what I believe, I just know how people have responded to me in the past. I would rather, personally, for people to view me as the mellow kind of individual that I am..... I'm not here to convert anyone or convince anyone....I'm just here to have fun and learn. :D
  4. I know a fair amount about my family..... as far as I "know" we were on the Northern side of the Civil War.....and as far as I "know" we are all white. ....but it wouldn't matter one way or another. Makes no nevermind to me. :001_smile:
  5. DD1 was a "homebirth" that wasn't at my home....it was in an efficiency apt. in the doctor's basement....the closest I could get to a homebirth in St. Louis. The doctor was an O.D. DD2 was a real homebirth in GA DS was a real homebirth in GA
  6. I picked other...... I am a Christian Scientist and consider myself Christian...but most would consider me a cult. :D
  7. I'm sorry that happened to you..... but I have sooooo been there. I unfriended a brother and his family after being publicly attacked on FB about homeschooling and my, then, 8 year old son who was a struggling reader. I believe the final straw was that I was raising my children to "suck off the teat of society" by homeschooling them and not having them in public school. That was almost 2 years ago. I have no intention of talking to him or his family ever again. FB isn't evil..... just some of the people who feel that any sense of common decency is null and void on social forums like that.
  8. The Christian Science Monitor....it's my homepage. :D http://www.csmonitor.com/
  9. Homeschool philosophy? I really haven't thought about it...but the first thing that comes to mind is..... Git 'er done!!! That pretty much sums it up....day after day, week after week....
  10. No help here, sorry....but a thought, for the poopy mess how about a woman's sanitary napkin in his underwear? It worked for someone I know who had rectal bleeding.
  11. Congratulations!!! Awesome news!! We had to make a trek across country from GA to MN to get a job.... how wonderful you've been able to stay put.
  12. I LOVE these!! I wish I had them for my kids when they were little... very sweet. yeah...the pasty vest is a little odd, but the doll is not a problem for me.
  13. My son tried to nurse off his sister's Barbie dolls. I really need to find that picture and scan it in. :tongue_smilie:
  14. My kids were all behind in math....one of them loathed math..the other two were okay with it but were still behind. Out of desperation we went from Saxon to MUS to Math-It. Now they are all on grade level and I often hear my one child saying that math isn't as bad as she thought it was. I think that Math It saved us. With Math It they learned skills to quickly memorize the math facts and then the rest of the concepts in math were easy (fractions/measuring/etc). I'm sold on it! Two of the kids jumped a grade to put them up into their own, correct, grade level.... the other one just needs to work on his mult/div. facts. It took the kids a couple of weeks to get really good with their math facts/ math it and then I put them back into Saxon at a grade level higher...it worked!
  15. We switched from a traditional style of hsing to Ambleside Online....We all love it and the reading is rigorous and challenging. She's handling it like a champ!
  16. Sounds a little like my oldest daughter..... we did Saxon 54 and in the middle of it I compared 65 and 76...and jumped her ahead to 76. We've had our moments (she's not strong in math) but she is doing very, very well with it and we are kind of back on track. You are where you are.... just pick up and start again. I've decided to keep my daughter a year behind, but she is okay with that and we just keep moving on. Don't let it get you down..... just keep going forward.... you will be surprised with how well she progresses. :grouphug:
  17. BA in Biology....would have been a BS but Organic Chemistry kicked my hiney and my ex threw me out before I could retake it... so I settled for a BA.
  18. http://www.thebooksamaritan.com/ You might try these folks...I've never had to use them (yet!). I so understand where you are coming from... I hope you are able to keep homeschooling. We switched to Ambleside Online... alot of their book suggestions are online and free. We love it. :grouphug:
  19. I'm sorry that happened...but I guess it's better to know now...although that doesn't make the anger/hurt go away. You should see what happens when we mention our religion to a group....they suck all the air right out of the room. LOL We don't do groups anymore...well, we are members of our local one but haven't done anything with them yet. I wonder what they'll say when they find out we are Christian Scientists. It used to bother me .... but not anymore. Such is life, just keep going forward. I hope you find a good alternative.... :grouphug:
  20.:lol: I have a wonderful picture of my eldest daughter with a string of new tampons dangling from her wrist like some kind of charm bracelet.....absolutely adorable. Of course, I also have a picture of my youngest trying to breastfeed off a naked Barbie when he was a toddler. Hysterical! I can't wait to show that to him someday. I love kids....no end to the hilarity!:lol:
  21. So am I.....so we are quitting school for the rest of the summer! We'll still do some read alouds, but otherwise we are dropping everything "school-ish" in favor of play, drawing, skills learning, etc....totally unstructured. Woohoooo! Let the games begin!!!! Change something, drop something, spend more time outside, draw, party..... remember the fun! Good Luck!
  22. Congrats! My name went from Pam in GA to Pam in MN.....just get a mod or someone to change it. Easy peasy.
