If you have kids in public school, is anyone masking?

And this is why my children and myself as a teacher keep getting covid. -
If you have kids in public school, is anyone masking?
Hilltopmom replied to MercyA's topic in The Chat Board
Everyone coming back from having Covid us masking because our schools are following the “stay home 5days”, mask for 10 guidelines. It’s not optional. So it’s routine for people to be masked for a few days here and there. A few others are masking full time. -

Balancing homeschool work and field trips and hybrid program
Hilltopmom replied to ktgrok's topic in The Chat Board
(Deleted for privacy)… Social studies “class” doesn’t need to be working through a curriculum/textbook 🙂 sounds like she has a great program going! -
Yes, similar. I was a Bio major but didn’t know about any of this Science history.

Anyone reading it in preparation? Interesting testimony about science at the time, not just eclipses. Non fiction. I’m enjoying it.

Why do Amazon returns have so many different return locations?
Hilltopmom replied to DawnM's topic in The Chat Board
Ours is like that now too- I mean it’s nice to have options but individual items don’t all have the same options so now I have to go to 3 different plazas for 3 Amazon returns- all from the same original order. Ugh. I was just discussing cutting back on Amazon orders to things I know I won’t need to return. So no more ordering to try on clothes and shoes. -
I actually made dh clean our last weekend, it had been like 6 years

In the path of totality so planning to view from our back yard since events will be crowded. Local schools are in a kerfluffle trying to decide what to do since it’s at dismissal time. Most are either doing a half day or full day off for kids. They’re saying staff has to work all day but I suspect we actually are told to go ahead and leave early. A lot of us already put in for the day off anyways. I was able to secure a grant for eclipse teaching materials and viewing glasses for our whole district! that said it will probably be cloudy here- our weather is terrible that time of year

I’ll fully admit here that I haven’t scrubbed kitchen cupboards or the baseboards since I returned to working full time. I did all that stuff when a sahm but not anymore. As far as my parents, in their mid 70s, my mom doesn’t keep a spotless house anymore either and says she’d rather be out doing things (they hike, bike, paddle, ski) than cleaning the house like she did for years. She’s retired from being a house wife. She does the basics now is all.

I think every teacher in my school except me got one for Christmas!
-
Wow, here I’d say at least half my school has had it since Thanksgiving. As for the booster, only my own family has talked about getting it this fall, but it’s not really talked about anymore.
-
I got my booster around thanksgiving too and did get covid at Christmas from school. This was the third time but the least severe.

I’m listening to None of this is True right now and enjoying it. The podcast aspect goes great as an audio book. Not my usual genre either.

I’m looking for some Sciency audio non fiction books. I like history of Science type things like Radium Girls, The girls of atomic city, The Disappearing Spoon, etc I just put The Six on my list about the first female astronauts. Any other newer favorites in this genre? I’ve read a lot of the older ones. Thanks!

So I’ve been wearing the Latuza bamboo pjs for a few years now (thanks, @ktgrok). I’m now considering bamboo tops for work (teacher) because of darn hot flashes, I’m always so hot at school. Latuza has one tunic length top I’m going to try out, just ordered. All the others are rather short at the waist and ok for pjs but I prefer longer tops at work. I might try wearing one if my newer pj tops with school pants and see if it looks ok. But they are pretty thin. I would die of embarrassment if someone asked me if it was a pajama shirt, I’m pretty sure 😂 I’ve put on weight and need a xxl or 1x too now. are there any other good brands out there for bamboo tees, tunic, etc that would not scream pajama top? Thanks!

I stopped doing keto and put back on a lot of weight, so I’m following in on this. I worked for WW years ago back when everything was tracked on paper.

They might help but it’s totally worth going to a running or walking shoe for an evaluation. I found out so much about my feet and what style shoes to look for- there are many different kinds of even just Hokas. I need lots of arch support so that my heels don’t hurt- other feet need other things.

What are you reading? - 2023 Year-End Wrap-Up
Hilltopmom replied to Vintage81's topic in The Chat Board
I just finished The Women of Chateau Lafayette. My Goodreads tells me I read 109 books this year. I joined 2 Facebook groups, one for fiction, one historical fiction and have added lots of books to my TBR list that way. Our library has been really good the last few years on keeping up with new titles- I just can’t read on a kindle, don’t enjoy it at all. HF is my favorite genre, but I did try some thrillers and modern fiction this year. My favorite book of the year: Being Heumann: An Unrepentant Memoir of a Disability Rights Activist https://a.co/d/jg3OrL8 I did a book study of it with some teacher friends right before she passed away. Highly recommend! and surprise fantasy genre favorite- The House in the Cerulean Sea. (Audio version) -
