  1. My parents were a whatever the Dr. said type of people so I have received all shots that were given in 1963 through 1982 public school system requirements. I was told to get the flu shot because of my weakened immune system and it made me sick so I now say no thank you. I do receive a tetnus once in a while. Okay I am not anti shots, but do strongly believe a child should only receive one shot at a time. Also, can anyone give me a positive reason why you should give your child the chicken pox shot? Thank you
  2. Thank you for the information - the post you wrote about your children gives hope. Today, I called the optometrist and spoke with him about the problems ds is having - he assured me that he can and will do tests to rule out vision problems. So I made ds an appointment for Friday.
  3. You have been very helpful. I plan to make some phone calls tomorrow. I never realized that there is a difference in vision care providers and had no idea OT could check for writing problems. Thank you
  4. We have read over this site and find it very helpful. Thank you :)
  5. would you please give me some information about it or where to find information on it. I have researched some sites on the web, but I am turning to the forum because I trust your input. How can you tell if your child has it? How do you adjust their school work? Thank you
  6. Thank you everyone for your input. It seems to me that Mega Words can help improve spelling/reading and can be used for any student. I do believe we will start on Mega Words Book one. :D
  7. Wow - Thank you - very helpful - I did not know how to work on fixing this issue. Lisa

  11. I was thinking of starting in Book 1. We are using R&S reading/spelling and he seems to read slightly above level, but his spelling is not good. Thank you for the heads up on the TM.
  12. Well we have one desktop for ds and me. DH has a netbook. DD has a laptop and a netbook. Would love to have another :D I would like to know how many printers people have  We only have 2 :glare:
  13. This may not be what you are looking for but, whenever I have a problem I consult Maria - she has a quick response time and is always very helpful. :)

  15. Math Mammoth - We love it! http://www.mathmammoth.com/
  16. We use and love Rod and Staff Reading. We also love Reading Detective by the Critical Thinking Co,
  17. :grouphug: It is okay to chuck this to the curb and use something more hands on and user friendly. Perhaps Noeo Science? We are a science loving family and to be honest I do not like nor will I use Apologia General Science. I know everyone brags on how good it is and how much your child will learn from it, but I feel like you need to do what is right for you and the stress this book seems to bring to your life just does not seem worth it. Of course like I said I am not a fan of this book at all :D You could also look at Abeka and BJU they seem to be well written. Wish you the best.
  18. Transparent power solids ? Balance Scale? PolyConstruto Triangles,Squares and Pentagon Set? Thank you for your ideas :)
