McGuffey Eclectic readers with grade 2 and grade 5?
elizabeth rose replied to tammyw's topic in K-8 Curriculum Board
Can I ask what is wrong with the brown ones? I've used the brown ones for years and haven't noticed anything wrong with them. What is the difference? Thanks! -
Favorite Audiobooks

We just finished tom Sawyer. It was so much better than me reading aloud, great accent, different voices and music at the end of each chapter. -
Pathway Readers/CTGE vs LLATL
elizabeth rose replied to Ecclecticmum's topic in K-8 Curriculum Board
Well, I use LLATL, I don't think it is light. I also use the Pathway Readers, just the readers though, nothing more. -
Get the Experiment Kit for Earth/Space Elemental Science?
elizabeth rose replied to Wonder's topic in K-8 Curriculum Board
We didn't buy it either. the only things I have had to buy so far are plaster of paris and thermometers. I think the plaster of paris wasn't even a required thing, it was an activity in one of the books that went along with the program. -
Sonlight Core B Questions
elizabeth rose replied to CookIslandsMommy's topic in K-8 Curriculum Board
It's been a while, but I don't remember any of it tying together. The geographic locations were always different. I was a newbie, I would not do it that way again. IThat said, we enjoyed all those books very much. -
I also use a handwriting program, and wordly wise for my 4th grader. She reads aloud from her McGuffey reader, but that is mainly for articulation issues. I really like LLATL and feel it is very solid.

Oak Meadow World History 7
elizabeth rose replied to birchbark's topic in General Education Discussion Board
wow, that sounds great. How expensive was it? I wonder if the book could be found used, or if it is very new maybe not. Thanks for the great review. I will definitely keep that in mind. -
Free Typing Program?
elizabeth rose replied to momacacia's topic in General Education Discussion Board
We really like DanceMat typing, from BBC, like mentioned above. It is geared for young kids though. -
When I have been told I can't bring it in, they provide a free locker.

Any opinions on the game Elementeo?
elizabeth rose replied to Carolyn in Ohio's topic in General Education Discussion Board
hated it, I even called the company and asked what the game was about. I thought you would learn about the elements, but the only info was on the cards, which is just like what is on the periodic table. Really lame. -
Choosing the order of subjects in a day...
elizabeth rose replied to violamama's topic in K-8 Curriculum Board
We start with history and read alouds bc that is our favorite. I learned long ago that they look forward to starting school if it is something enjoyable to come down for. After that its: Geography LA small break Math Lunch, long break Science , Art, Music depending on the day -
We love LLATL here. My 2nd grader is doing really well with it. Not a ton of writing required.
