  1. Mine was preplanned and easy. I lwas up an walking within 4 hours and eft the hospital after 48 hours (almost exactly) with nothing more than Motrin for pain. I had no problems getting around and actually seemed to be in better shape than many of the other women there who had traditional deliveries. By 2.5 weeks out I was hiking (short, gentle trails) and had no real effects from the surgery.
  2. It might not be the most popular option but I cut it. When my younger wouldn't keep her hair out of her mouth I warned her that it was gross and if it continued she would have to choose a haircut that prevented it. It continued so she got a (very cute) short bob with bangs for about 6 months until the habit had been broken.
  3. Around here high schools are always looking for people willing to take part time positions or tutor. Part time positions are generally one or two sessions of a class and because of block scheduling are a few hours every other day. Tutoring is generally volunteer and you make your own schedule. Tutoring college students might also be a good idea because you would become familiar with the class scope and sequence at the schools you might want to work at.
  4. I don't think it is appropriate to expect a sibling to take on parental responsibilities.

Your in box is full but you are welcome to pm me.
  6. Probably 80% of the lunches our schools serve would qualify as fast food...fries and burgers, chicken nuggets, pizza. If a kid eats lunch at school 5 days a week they have eaten fast food almost every day.
  7. Y swim lessons were a waste of time for us. Pick up a "teach your child to swim" book on amazon and you can probably teach him/her yourself in a few weeks.
  8. If you are near a costco they sell flatbread that makes a great pizza crust. A package of 8 individual pizza size flatbreads is 3 or 4 dollars.
  9. I would buy the 12 and pin the straps if necessary.
  10. I love Beatrice but I would use the nickname Bea. (full disclosure - I have a girl who is often called Bea though not because of her first name). I do think Trixie is cute but I think of it as a dog name not a child's name.
  11. If the grandparent is in that condition will they really know and remember the visit?
  12. Sounds a lot like one of my girls. The neuropsych eval showed a very high IQ with severe anxiety and moderate ADHD. It has been a long process but once we found the right combination of medication (Psychiatrist) and therapy (CBT with a licensed counselor who specializes in anxiety in children) things started to get better. She is still a harder kid than my other and likely always will be but she is not nearly as hard as she was.
  13. I would use it as a topping for ice cream or mix it into yogurt.
  14. 9 times out of 10 the outfit I think looks ridiculous is actually extremely fashionable for the tween girl set so I don't comment anymore.
  15. It sounds like you two main options... Tell her no Watch her kids but don't have her watch yours (maybe there is something else she could do for you instead...mow your lawn, etc)
  16. I would absolutely send him back to the rescue and have them find him a more suitable home and you a more suitable puppy for a family with kids.
  17. There is no picture. It is not all that uncommon to wind up with cellulitis after a sting. I would watch it closely and take her in immediately if it becomes extremely painful or the rate it is spreading increases. If it isn't particularly painful it is probably fine to wait and have it looked at tomorrow (cellulitis hurts!).
  18. What about asking your friend if there is a time you could go to her pool alone. Swim in it again for the first time by yourself, without anyone (even her) around so that you can process the experience as you need to. It sounds like the actual act of getting into the pool is becoming more of an issue rather than less as time goes on.
  19. That can be a precursor to a more serious reaction the next time so it wouldn't hurt to take him in to the doctor. I also ALWAYS get cellulitis if I get stung. Watch the sites of the stings closely and take him in if any seem to be getting worse rather than better.
  20. If the injury occurred while she was away working for the summer any required medical care should be covered under workers comp. You may want to start by speaking with her employer to find out what you need to do to ensure you are following the necessary steps to have it covered.

  22. Try 6pm.com or Sierratradingpost.com Sierra trading post always has coupons available if you google.
  23. I had to have mine out in my 30's. It would have been a lot easier if it had been done in my teens (between the faster recovery and the lack of responsibilities so I could really rest after).
  24. Is it that she doesn't want to change or that she doesn't know how to change? I have one who can be like this and I finally figured out that it is an issue of being anxious that she will fail. She comes off as disinterested but really she is reluctant to try too hard for fear she won't succeed and will have to face that disappointment. It has taken a lot of sending her back to redo things until they are done well for her to learn that it is worth the effort the first time (but she is also younger...not sure how that would work at 15).
