  1. Seriously. Considering how good most cell phone cameras are these days and how real estate photography information is so readily available, it's surprising what terrible pictures realtors still take and use. I guess when most people didn't carry a high quality camera around with them, it was easy to excuse poor pictures as a lack of a high end tool. Apparently, it's more user error than anything else.
  2. I would be pretty upset by the lack of response to your concerns, and the lack of care in choosing which pictures to promote. It sounds like this realtor may not be a good fit for y'all I understand she's successful in your area, and part of that may have to do with which clients she takes on (like she's reached a point in her business where she can be choosy, and so she chooses properties that are more likely to sell quickly). You said your house is old, I assume it's non-standard for your area? At this point, I'd say you've given her a try and it's time to move on to someone who is more responsive. Maybe look for similar homes in the area that have sold in the last few years and see who the selling realtor was?
  3. Not much that I do is "Pinterest-worthy," but this is my one party trick. My cupcake recipe varies, but I always top them with piped cream cheese icing. For minimal effort, I end up with something that looks and tastes amazing. Why not just fill the muffin tin one quarter to one third full? Either make half the recipe or bake two batches of shorty cupcakes.
  4. Now that just took it too far ? I'm definitely a fan of cream cheese, both plain and turned into icing, but cream cheese icing on a delicious piece of cake or cupcake, mmmm. Let's just say it's a good thing for my health that the cakes from Nothing Bundt Cakes are so expensive.
  5. I love *cream cheese* icing, and I can't imagine finding any amount of it unappetizing. A huge mound of buttercream though doesn't really float my boat.
  6. I think better than a bonfire would be a trip (or series of trips) to Half Price Books.
  7. How much protein (in grams) are you hoping to get into the smoothie?
  8. We sort of school year-round, though we did a lighter schedule over the summer and took off a few weeks in a row because of family visiting, VBS, etc. We've been getting back to our routine and slowly ramping up the amount of work over the last couple of weeks. I think it's been going well. I've worked on my expectations, realizing that the job of parenting and homeschooling at this point is just as much about character as it is about academics. A few minutes ago, DD had a major attitude breakdown/yelling explosion because I told her I was taking a break from helping her spell words (for her fun writing, nothing I had asked her to do). She just came bouncing down the stairs, as though nothing had happened. So I guess the answer to, "How is school going?" might depend on who in my house you ask. LOL
  9. I'd first vacuum it with some kind of brush attachment - no sense in getting loose dust wet. Then I'd do a pass with a wet microfiber cloth on a swiffer, flipping the cloth and then rinsing it when it's visibly dirty. I prefer to start at the top, that way any drips will be taken care of as I work my way down. For any marks left at that point, I like to start with something gentler, like baby wipes. Anything left after that would get worked on with the magic eraser. However, I have found that those can remove paint, or at the very least affect the sheen. If the paint is a low-sheen finish that Sherwin-Williams still carries, rather than the magic eraser, it may be easier to just use new paint to touch up any marks still remaining. I think it would be less obvious and more clean-looking than significant scrubbing by a magic eraser.
  10. Apparently "missing chipmunks" is an unfilled internet niche ...
  11. I'm sure I would feel frustrated and bothered by that too. I have a few questions, not that you have to answer here, but thinking them through may give you some insight. Is this eating and activity style very different from what you did previously? Both in amount and type of food and activity? Are you weighing yourself at the same time each day on the same scale? Weight fluctuates quite a bit throughout the day and week, so a small sample size will be less informative than say daily weigh-ins each morning, after using the bathroom and before eating/drinking anything. That will help you see a trend in weight. Is it possible that your menstrual cycle is contributing to this (as in weight gain from building muscle + clothes fitting tighter from bloating)? Have you mentioned this to your trainer or nutritionist? 3 weeks into a new program may be a little early to expect results, so given the other benefits you listed, I'd definitely recommend sticking with it - see what happens over the next 2 to 3 weeks. Another thought that came to mind is possibly over-exercising and needing more rest/recovery time. I like the advice offered by both of these blogs, and these may or may not be helpful to you. https://www.niashanks.com/more-exercise-is-not-always-better/ https://www.girlsgonestrong.com/blog/fat-loss/more-cardio/ And one last thing - well done you, focusing on your health and enlisting some professional support!
  12. Following I think I've read too much Robert McCloskey (is that even possible?), because it seems like such an idyllic vacation. In my mind it's 2+ weeks, and it'd be nice to have a car. So I've seriously considered doing the multi-day drive with the kids on my own, since DH would not be able to take off all that time. Then he could fly in to vacation with us for a few days.
  13. That too. I'm generally not a cuss-er, but I read that and think, "Bulls***." The more I think about really the director's response to this, the more I am bothered. He *knew* it was going to be a problem, so he took all of these steps in creating the scene (only acting coach present, under parent surveillance, documenting the process), without seeming to assess whether the *content* of the scene was a bigger problem than the process.
  14. I close my laptop, so what I'm working on isn't available to others to see. And in mind, at least, a computer that has to be logged in to is less of a target than one that is already logged in. Then I ask someone to keep an eye on it for me.
  15. Right! They're not going to be children forever, or really even for that long. Plus there's the whole issue of the normalization of and desensitization to child porn, for you know, people in general.
  16. Wow. That's exceptionally problematic. I'm also upset that the director thinks that there's no problem with it solely because the child actresses didn't know what they were doing.
  17. In addition to checking the information on your reports, you can add an initial 90-day fraud alert to your credit report. There's no cost for this, and you only need to do it with one of the credit reporting agencies, and they will share with the rest. My understanding is that the fraud alert shows up if anyone checks your credit. If you want to open a new account, or someone else tries to open an account in your name, and there's a fraud alert, it should trigger an additional identity check for whoever is opening the account. I recently received 4 packages I hadn't ordered from Wal-mart. They had my name first name, address, and phone number, but a different last name. The packages arrived several days after we had fraudulent activity at Wal-mart on one of our credit cards. From what I can tell on my credit reports, there hasn't been any additional activity.
  18. That's good to know about the movie. I also thoroughly enjoyed the book, but I've been uncertain about the movie. I'll skip it and think happily on the book.
  19. +1 in taking it to the store. As much as I like using a Mac, they really are not diy-friendly. Most of the time it just works. But when it doesn't, dealing with it seems to be a job for the pros, which annoys me.
  20. I grew up in Texas, and open container laws are a thing there, so I think it would be off to see someone walking out of a store with an open container of alcohol there. I live in the St. Louis area now, and open containers in moving vehicles is not a big deal (my local friends tell me it's due to the influence of Anheuser-Busch, but I don't know how true that is). However, our Lucky's here does have a sign on their door about no open alcohol containers allowed out the door. I would think it's a liability issue?
  21. Yes, it definitely takes longer, and feels much more inefficient than a "simple" conveyance of information for us non-verbal processors.
  22. That is a funny quote, and I agree that it's true and sad. I think it also minimizes the fact that for some women, alcoholism and self-medication is a real struggle.
  23. I have a friend who's realized that her DH is a verbal processor, so the words come out as jumbled together as the thoughts are in his head, and talking through it is how he makes cohesive sense of things. Does that sound familiar? If so, I think something that has helped her is to expect that when he first begins to talk about something, it's going to be jumbled and all over the place. Then, as the conversation progresses, she can try to put the information together in a logical way and check with him if her understanding is correct.
  24. I feel like there's a reason Starbucks is a go-to, and it's because they provide benefits for part-time work. I think the starting pay would be below what you want, but it might be an emergency stop-gap option, if you end up needing benefits right away. Sorry I don't have much other advice on a more ideal or desirable job. I have no idea what I'd do if I needed a job with sufficient pay and benefits.
