  1. In 24 years we've had 11 cars between the 2 of us.
  2. Stressful job situation--nope that rarely ends well. I think I would stay put. Can he ask for a raise on his employee of the year award?
  3. Eat your pie! I just had a chocolate chunk banana muffin all by myself :)
  4. The internet wasn't quite the job hunting vehicle 13 years ago that it is today ;)
  5. It was my one and only time having to apply and that is what the employee told us. Dh finally got unemployment, the month he went back to work(almost a year later) they approved my son for medical but we had insurance again. I have no faith in the system. If we are ever in that predicament I would not bother applying. Like I said it was a very long time ago--lots of lessons learned and we survived.
  6. Divorce and we still owed payments on that car--couldn't pay them though. Selling the car wasn't an option because we needed it for job hunting. Anyway it was a long time ago and we learned a lot of lessons, didn't divorce, made it through, etc. etc. etc.
  7. I don't know much about the food stamp program other than what happened to us... about 13 years ago dh lost his job. We went through everything we had and then some. We went and applied for food stamps. We were a family of 3. We were denied because we had a car that was not quite 5 years old. The employee processing our application told me to file for divorce from my husband and she would have food stamps for my son and myself that day. We had no food in our house again at one point and I went and applied and we were still denied. Dh was out of work for close to a year. We had both 'paid into the system'. Didn't do us a damn bit of good... So... it's hard for me to come up with an opinion without pissing people off.
  8. YIKES Tammy! I hope y'all are ok. I am severely allergic to poison ivy too--feel better soon!! I've done an insane amount of laundry for a Monday It's now all on my bed waiting to be folded Played outside with the kids until it got too hot Made muffins Made a pasta salad for supper to go with the chicken dh grilled last night
  9. Prayers for you Jean Today I've got more laundry to do other than that I'm hoping for a pretty easy day
  10. I got everything done plus I went ahead and did an extra load of laundry, cleaned the kitchen and vacuumed. It will make for a shorter chore list tomorrow. I just realized that today is the last day to do open enrollment so dh and I have some quick number crunching to do...ugggg
  11. I am a Christian with conservative leanings. My opinion still stands.
  12. I can't stand him! I don't think he's all that old but writes like he has everything in the world figured out HA! The marriage thing he wrote awhile back was posted probably 47 million times in my fb feed and it made me seriously consider unfriending/hiding quite a few people. He's obnoxious and I'm waiting for something to hit him upside the head so he realizes he's not as smart as he thinks he is.
  13. hmmmm no, I do not want to tackle this day. I want to laze around and watch tv and go swimming later. What needs to be done: run to CVS laundry--all that swimming is creating a mountain of towels and swimwear. Dh is griling so I plan on making some potato salad and maybe some fried okra--I have some that I need to use asap
  14. My eyes were very dark brown until my 20s--they are lighter now and have hints of green in them.
  15. My youngest is almost 4 but he still likes to take those big checkers and put them in old wipe boxes, dump them out and start over :) For his 2nd b-day he got a tricycle and a little people airplane, for his 3rd dh built him a sandbox Duplos(they have girly ones if that's important to you), books, puzzles, outdoor toys. I like paints, rolls of tape, other simple crafty stuff to introduce at this age too.
  16. prayers for you and your family Jean today: clean out fridge swim
  17. I'm in the middle of this right now. I've interviewed twice for a very part-time but fairly well paid position. The first interview was with the immediate supervisors. The questions were imo typical interview questions. What would you do in this situation, tell us about your qualifications and what are your long term goals, general chit chat about what the job entailed and then any questions I had. It was about 45-60 minutes long. Then I had an interview with the director the next week. It was very quick--I knew this before the interview started. The director asked all the questions which mainly pertained to how to handle deadlines and again my long term goals. The supervisors were there but did not ask questions. I was asked if I had any more questions about the position and those were all directed at the supervisors. The second interview lasted no more than 20 minutes. I had to consent to a background check a week after the second interview and now I wait..
  18. Most of my day has been spent arguing with a 3 year old why I will not be buying him anymore legos I've vacuumed Got laundry going Taking #1 to the library in a bit Attempt a grocery trip after that
  19. I hate the amount of $$ we spend on food. I just checked and so far for the month of July 4 people--2 adults, 1 teen and 1 almost 4 year old: $843 on groceries. I'm going to the grocery store this afternoon with a short list. I expect that I will be at $1000 for the month by the end of next week :(
