  1. Dear In-Laws, After you intentionally left Dh out of your Christmas celebrations last year, you did nothing to help repair the damage to your relationship with him by starting Christmas dinner before we even got there this year. He did nothing but take care of you during MIL's medical dramas all summer and this is how you repay him? I'm finding it increasingly harder and harder to be civil to you people.
  2. Um . . . I'm on WoT book #4, I volunteer as tribute to come entertain your Uncle!
  3. My brother ordered the kids an air hockey table and was told it was delivered on Monday. He and his wife were both home and didn't hear anything, but they live in a bad neighborhood, so we're assuming the worst at this point. How someone carried off a big package like that in broad daylight is stunning to me.
  4. I am bored to tears with my flat, thin, dull hair. I want to do something fun. In the past I've had hairdressers tell me I have a lot of hair but that it's thin, and I have trouble getting it to look like anything but blah. It's almost to bra strap length and I'm thinking about getting a Body Wave Perm. I've been looking at pictures on Pinterst and I like what "those" pictures look like, but I'm concerned about what real life results are. How difficult is it to make it look nice and curly like in pictures? Do you have to curl it every day or do you just wash and blow dry it and the perm takes care of the rest? I've used Henna dye twice in the past year if prior treatments are an issue. I think it's either a perm of a dramatic chop because what I have is just not working for me.
  5. This happened to me about two weeks ago! I had very intense pain around my kidney area. I was okay moving, no problems there. But if I hiccuped or sneezed or even took a deep breath it was excruciating. The only thing that kept me from going to see my Dr. was that my DH had the same thing 4 days before me and the pain had gone away on its own for him. I was down for a good solid three days and then still partially sore for another three or four after that.
  6. I'd recommend the miscarrying sibling stay home from the event and I'd also make every possible effort to make them a plate of their favorite tasty treats and drive over there, deliver the food, give them an enormous hug and let them know you love them and are thankful they are in your life . . . even in the really rough days.
  7. I'd say take the financial risk and go for it. Being physically active will help him keep his spirits up during this difficult time. Consider it an investment in his long term health. A $300 bike is much cheaper than a heart attack.
  8. Loreena McKennitt was another 90's female singer with a sort of New Agey vibe. "Marco Polo" has sort of a bouncy ball feel.
  9. I completely lost it with my dd yesterday. I apologized and we had a good talk, but I still felt pretty rotten about it. So my triumph for today is that I kept Angry Mommy under a rock where she belongs. Tweens bring out the absolute worst in me!
  10. I will be shopping for my delightful sciency Dd here. I also have a few things eyeballed for myself. http://www.svahausa.com/
  11. We have a built in desk in our kitchen. We took a baby gate, fixed it across the opening and cut a cat sized opening in the plastic mesh.
  12. No, I do not consider it either. A DNR basically says "please don't stop me from dying." Whereas euthanasia/assisted suicide takes actions that cause death. I see them as two completely separate things.
  13. I spent some time with my Dad this weekend and the conversation turned to the election. A question came up that neither of us knew the answer to and I figured someone here would. What happens if a candidate dies a week before the election? Does the ticket automatically go to the Vice Presidential candidate? Does the party have to scramble and come up with a new candidate in a week? Does it go to whoever came in second in the Primaries? Does the election get postponed?
  14. Our whole family gets the Flu shot. We currently have a little one fighting some minor health issues that could quickly escalate if she were to become ill.
  15. I am against State mandated vaccinations and our family utilizes the registry.
  16. Tell me about it! My dd11 just spent a frustrating evening trying to find her a Supergirl costume. The Supergirl TV program has the heroine in an adorable outfit and that's what we were looking for. What we found was Stripper Supergirl in all her various incarnations. I thought about just getting a boy's Superman costume but all of those had plastic muscles build right into the fabric. I couldn't even get the Supergirl T-shirt they had because there was this ridiculous "big boob, tiny waist" silhouette printed right onto it.
  17. I'm usually not bothered by scents, but an older lady sat behind me on Sunday who reeked of "Old Lady Perfume." It was awful!! It doesn't make me sick or anything, but it was quite distracting.
  18. Thanks ladies. I have about 30-40 lbs. to lose so I'm hoping that helps a bit. I try to remember to do Kegels but I'm not consistent, I'll give that app a try. I never considered seeing a Dr. because we hadn't be done having kids and I figured why fix something if you're just going to wreck it all again. But now that we're done it'd probably be worth speaking to my OB about. I knew the HIve would be good for some suggestions! Thanks for the input!
  19. Hi folks, After having 4 kids I have found that I tend to leak a bit when running, doing jumping jacks, even sneezing. It's embarrassing and I'm shying away from fun activities like going on the trampoline with my kids because I know what's going to happen. I was on Pinterest and an advertisement for this product popped up: http://havefiness.com/SF?utm_campaign=pin-incont&pp=0&utm_medium=16.1P&utm_source=Pinterest Have any of you used this? It stops leaks by blocking the urethra and that just sounds like infections waiting to happen. But I'd love to hear from any of you who may have used it.
  20. I got a dolphin which seems kind of lame. Dd got a Tonkinese Cat which she was tickled with! We're both Hufflepuff.
  21. No, I wouldn't change it. Jessie Louise is pretty.
  22. I would discuss how intrusive, personal questions in a high school health class are causing her undue stress. The coping mechanisms she's employing are realizing that some people don't understand the concept of personal boundaries and the use of passive aggressive forms of the creative process can sometimes help deal with these dingbats.
  23. When I was little my Mom used to heat up Cream of Chicken Soup and put little bits of cut up white bread in it for my lunch. I remember eating it fairly often but now the thought of it sort of grosses me out!
