  3. Hi I am in middle TN and we use Home Life. Home Life is very easy to use it is all online and takes very little time. There are lots of homeschoolers in the area and many groups you can find several on yahoo groups or facebook. Our local 4-H and parks department have homeschool groups. You will be able to find homeschoolers and groups for you to join if you want to.
  4. It was our offical day of the start of 3rd grade. We do school year round but today was new curriculum and new school room today. Other than his nemsis spelling the day went well, he wanted to do more History than I had planned. There is a post with the new room in my blog below.
  5. Thanks! We justed started piano lessons and his teacher has him listening to different classical pieces as part of his homework. I can use this to work it into a homeschool lesson :001_smile:

  8. Ours came today, DS has read the first two chapters and is now working on the practice problems. He said this is not even school work:001_smile: I have not even got to look at 3A yet, he took it as soon as it got here.
  9. I ordered both 3A and 3B with priority shipping:001_smile: We are within 10 lessons of being finished with TT3 and are year round homeschoolers so we will start this along with TT4.
  10. This was our first week of the new year. http://learninglaughterlove.blogspot.com/2011/07/weekly-reviewweek-1.html
  11. We did both Astronomy and Zoology this year(he asked to do both). It was a lot of work. We finished Astronomy very early it was an easier book for DS because he already knew most of the information from books he had read. We are going to study Anatomy next year. I already have the books and it looks very detailed, I am planning on a whole year for this one.
  12. Thank You! I have been shopping for a new printer this week and this is a great deal.
  13. We just switched from Singapore 2A to TT3. DS was getting majorly frustrated with the Singapore worksheets. I decided it was time to try something else from the sheer frustation factor. We decided on TT. DS took the placement test for both TT3 and TT4. He passed the placement test for TT3 easily and barely passed the placement test for TT4. I wasn't sure which one to purchase becuase I felt he was not ready for TT4, he needs more practice on the basics. DH thought we should get TT3 because you can't have too much practice in math. Since he is an engineer with a degree in math also, I went with his suggestion:001_smile:. I am glad we did while TT3 is easy for him and he is flying through the lessons, I can tell his mental math is better and his confidence has improved greatly. From looking at the lessons TT3 teaches the same thing Singapore 2 does so far, we are on lesson 30. We are using the Singapore workbooks for extra practice so it is a win win for us.
  14. A book, he would love it. I found it on half.com for $0.75. I think I will have to buy this one. Thanks
  15. Thanks for the Deadly Dozen idea. We love Netflix on the Roku. My son loves watching Mythbusters, I should try to develop a curriculum around the show he would love it. :001_smile:
  16. I bought the test book this year and we are using it as a worksheet. I like the idea of typing up the review questions from the activity book, but that is a lot of work.
  17. I posted a first nine weeks progress report. http://learninglaughterlove.blogspot.com/2010/09/first-nine-weeks-progress-rreport.html
  18. We are finishing first grade this week. :001_smile: We have used Magic School house science kits this year for science and they have been a huge hit. Legos are his favorite and I use them often. They are great for math. It has been a great way to help him learn how to count by 2's, 4's, and to 100. We also used them to "recreate" some of the things we read in Story of the World. For example, he built a mummy and sarcophagus. We have scavenger hunts with a digital camera where he has to find and take pictures of 10 red items or 5 things that begin with the letter "T" etc. That is a few things that works with my DS.
