I don't see my oldest ever outgrowing them. He wants a career as a Lego designer and he'd be really, really good at it. My youngest might outgrow them someday but even if he did I think he'd still enjoying building a set now and then if he was into that set's theme.

I actually think it kind of does. Frequently we come to practice problems that use previously taught skills to solve. It isn't glaringly obvious review but I think it is there. Others might disagree or need more review of certain topics but it isn't completely devoid of review in my opinion.

Too tired to think. (Mental fatigue) Does anything help? Maybe autoimmune.

Dropping wheat/gluten made a big difference for me with mental fog, exhaustion, and headaches. I feel bad again anytime I eat it. Taking B12 and VitD has helped a bit too. Has her thyroid been checked, I also have hypothyroidism. -
I told my youngest we would take off until after Thanksgiving. He cheered and then declared he'd take off except he still wanted to do reading lessons, math and writing evey day. I'll believe that when I see it.

We are! Actually we are on break officially as of right now. Fridays are reserved for fun extras so tomorrow we'll probably do a Thanksgiving craft then clean house, grocery shop, get haircuts and head to a swim meet for my oldest.

I will say I keep thinking of people we've forgotten (like our piano teacher and swim coach!)so I won't be surprised if we do go over budget. Hoping to get enough deals on other things so it'll all even out!

Awww I liked it!

This year we are REALLY sticking to a budget in all things. So we took out the cash from our Christmas fund (money we've been pulling out all year). Then we sat down and planned out what we wanted to get everyone + estimated prices OR set a gift budget for that person (like in my husband's family we draw names with a $50 spending limit so we just wrote $50 by those names). Then we shop with the cash divided out into envelopes for each person(one envelope with multiple compartments). If we shop online we immediately remove that much cash from the envelope and use it for groceries which usually gets put on the debit card. We also record it all in a composition notebook where we keep our entire budget.

Please tell me your best advice on printers and ink!
UCF612 replied to mum's topic in The Chat Board
We went with a laser printer, Brother from Staples. I'm thrilled with it. We bought it in July or August and are still on the ink that came with the printer which was just a sample cartridge. I'm sure by now I'd have replaced our old ink jet at least once! It was definitely worth paying a little more off the top and saving on ink in the long run for us. It is also way faster than our old ink jet was. -
Glad this was posted about. We bought our house last year and the septic was pumped before we moved in. We kinda forgot about it after that! I need to look into how often we need to have it pumped.

Anyone have an Amazon Echo? Do you like/dislike it?
UCF612 replied to PrincessMommy's topic in The Chat Board
My husband wants one. Is there a major advantage to having the big Echo over the Dot? -
I have one friend who I have known literally my entire life, our moms were pregnant together. We still get together with our families though we live an hour and a half apart (just far enough to not see each a lot but close enough that we can get together somewhat regularly). I'm still in touch with others from my school years but mainly thanks to FB. Otherwise I wouldn't be in contact with them. I do regularly text with my college roommate and we get together once a year at most but I still consider her a very good friend.

My favorite part of the years we lived in NC were the one day snow days! We got the fun of snow without the hassle of snow. I lived in Kannapolis not R/D area.

My sister lives in Cary, at the Apex line. They love it. I'd move there.

Mine are about 4-5 days. Days 1 and 2 are heaviest then it peters out for another 2-3 days.

We honeymooned on St. Maarten and enjoyed it. That was 12 year ago though and I don't remember too much detail of it. I believe we stayed on the Dutch side but traveled between both. I don't recall ever having an issue speaking English.

Gluten causes inflammation in me too but it usually shows up in inflamed sinuses plus a major headache.

I don't know how I'd homeschool without my....
UCF612 replied to Critterfixer's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Library, laser printer, coffee. And my kids...I'm thankful they are relatively easy to homeschool (learning doesn't always come easily but attitudes are generally good and they enjoy it). -
What does ASK stand for?
-
Oh yeah! THAT'S why I usually hate field trips.
UCF612 replied to HS Mom in NC's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Agreed, it can be so embarrassing! I hate being on a trip with people like group b! Although my youngest son will ask questions that were answered already. Once the question is in his head he doesn't hear anything else until he gets to ask it. He isn't distracting others in the meantime though. I do think crazy field trip behavior isn't just homeschoolers. We went to the local Ren Faire on education day and when the buses arrived madness ensued. There were "chaperoned" kids pulling out the real knives and swords and swinging them while the employee was frantically trying to get them to stop, no help in sight. Kids went missing which I know because a lady came up asking my boys if they were the missing kids. Thankfully we got there early and saw most of it before the buses unloaded. -
If I hear one more water bottle landing on the floor. . .

Thankfully my kids aren't hooked on this but we have good friends whose boys do it. The sound does drive me nuts. -
3rd grader with major handwriting issues, wwyd?
UCF612 replied to MrsRobinson's topic in General Education Discussion Board
We like Pentime cursive with the caveat that my kids both initially leared cursive with ABEKA at a private school (1 year). So I can't speak for how it works teaching a kid initially.
