  1. Has anyone used Declaration Statesmanship by Ferrier and Seeley? I have questions bout the timeline exercise.
  2. I do have the needed books now. Though I'm wondering if there are sources available for testing or quizzing that correspond with Gardner's Art Through the Ages, 13th ed.? Haven't found much so far.
  3. thanks to all of you! swimmermom3 thanks for the link to the complete volume! Planned to be completely ready for the school year one month ago, things haven't gone as planned!
  4. Hello, Regarding AP Art History, I'm not sure which Gardner's Art to purchase: Global History 1, Gobal Hiistory 2, Western Perspective? Which version? I've looked at previous posts about AP Art history on this forum before, today I/m just not finding the information. I'm interested in a resource to purchase printed art cards for the 250 required works, any ideas? Many Thanks, Cathrynlyn.
  5. I applaud you, it's not easy to take that step and find new activities for your daughter especially when past friendships have been more than unpleasant. If you use a Facebook page you should be able to block all the names of the people in that family and others. Your waiver could include conditions regarding behavior such as bullying, either in person online, respecting property. Specify how many chances a person gets before they get booted out of the group. And make sure there are guidelines for how to behave for instance if it's a library tour they should not be talking and giggling through most of it. And since you will be the main chaperone it's easier to enforce these things rather than when each person is with their own parent. Unfortunately not every parent pays attention to how their child is acting in these public situations. Good luck!
  6. Thanks to all of you for the suggestions. An online class sounds ideal, but probably not in my budget.
  7. Hello, My dc, who will be a junior, wants to study Spanish language. Im seeking suggestions for an entry level course. I don't speak Spanish. My dc know some basics. TIA Cathrynlyn
  8. Thank you for your advice. Does Gardner's correspond with the 250 art works?
  9. What resources have you used for setting up a AP Art History Course for your student? Thinking of using Khan Academy, some Practice Exams, and something that teaches writing for art history. Has anyone done notebook with this subject? TIA for sharing your ideas.
  10. RightStart Math focuses on understanding, and for the earliest years, learning to recognize groups of fives and tens, among other techniques. For her age, the course could be completed in two years.
  11. Something to think about an undetected health change. Maybe a medical checkup is needed? including bloodwork for possibly iron deficiency, thyroid function, or anything else your doc suggests that could be related to mood changes. Obviously, if the anxiety gets much worse, she may need a bit less responsibility, counseling, and a bit of time to get better.
  12. The course, which is from is from IEW,focuses on timed essays and college application essays. If learning timed essays is an unneeded skill, my student, who is a sophomore, could be focusing on another IEW high school course.
  13. I own the High School Essay Intensive DVDs. What are your thoughts on the value of this course, now that the SAT has changed. Would the course still be helpful to use, in preparing for high school or college?
  14. After looking over many choices, and I'm still researching, I'm strongly considering a program that's designed for right-brain learning. My student did well with RightStart math for the early grades. Videotext is recommended for use after RightStart. Cost is a huge factor which is why we ended up with TT algebra, an approach which wasn't a complete flop, but overall, didn't work.
  15. Thank you RootAnn and Chiguirre for your suggestions! 🌸
  16. There are big differences between A Fresh Approach and Foerster. Parts of AFA remind me of Key to series,(which I've seriously considered for this year) yes, I'll look through all the algebra listings. I'd narrowed down to Abeka or PH 2011 or Key to.. based on ruling out many other choices, but it's time to rethink this through.
  17. Thank you, MarkT for the links. I read a detailed review of Foerster Algebra at math mammoth, it's definitely the version I'll buy. Are PH Classics Algebra and Foerster: expressions, equations, and applications the exact same thing????
  18. I'm thinking about how my child learns math, likes clear to the point directions, not explained the long way around, but does need plenty of repetition, and sometimes has a different method of solving that makes more sense to her than what's being taught. Needs clear step by step solutions manual to help with certain problems. Prefers lessons presented by parent, doesn't respond well to video lessons. Which PH algebra would be a good fit, classic or 2011 version?
  19. How does the Classic series different from the newer 2011 edition?
