  1. Where did you purchase? I can only seem to find samples for Book 1. Can you send me in the right direction? Thanks:)
  2. Any updates on LoE Essentials? I am about to press the "buy" button, but still not quite sure. I want to use LoE Essentials with my upper elementary children for spelling benefits. I like that LoE teaches that "y" and "i" have a long /E/ sound as SWR/Spalding do not. There are several other reasons that pull me towards LoE. One moment I am thinking LoE and then I read something on Spalding or SWR that makes me consider those. I believe SWR has many levels to carry us through many years of spelling practice of the phonograms. However, I am not so sure that LoE will benefit us more than the 40 lessons in Essentials. Does anyone know iff LoE can continue to be used through the years with guided practice of the program and spelling words that continue to increase in difficulty? Obviously, I can choose my own words, use Spelling Power, or maybe the W.I.S.E guide in conjunction, but I would like to think that I could continue with some guidance from LoE through a few years of spelling. I am wondering if: abidnginhim and lorisuewho are still using LoE. Also, what are their pros and cons. Any help would be lovely!!!
  3. My previous message should read LoE 46 advanced phonogram cards. Sorry:(
  4. Also, I believe that SWR teaches y" as only 3 sounds; no long /e/ sound. Clearly, words with another vowel (ie. baby) has the long /e/ sound. Is Spalding like this, too. I know LoE teaches "y" with 4 sounds. I am wondering what the LoE extra 4 sounds are the advanced phonograms.
  5. How did LoE work for you? I am torn between WRTR, SWR, and LoE Essentials. My concern is that SWR has 70 phonograms, LoE has 74 phonograms + 37 advanced phonograms, and Spalding has 87 phonograms. Which do I need?
  6. I am just exploring WRTR, SWR, LOE, and other programs to help my children become better spellers. They read well and above grade level. Why did you say purchase the 4th edition of WRTR? There is a newer 6th edition and teacher guides available. I have not had time to review these. Also, I am not able to go to their site as we are stationed in S. Korea, so we are blocked by Spalding. I have lots of questions about Spalding and I would love to get additional information from you regarding WRTR. Thanks so much:)
  7. Can you provide the website for your "self directed learning" projects? My son would love to make this part of his daily work - bridge construction, etc. We will be studying Biology, so this may need to be part of future plans. Thanks:)
