  1. It does have very intense, sad parts. It ends on a happy(ish) note, but it does take a while to get there.
  2. Look around for a good local shop. The best beans we get are from a place that brings in green beans and roasts them in the shop. They are never old or stale and always have amazing flavor.
  3. Again. I cannot seem to get a good vacuum. This one was only 4 months old. It is a Bissell, which I thought was a decent brand. All I want is a small, light weight, bagless vacuum that is good for hard floors and area rugs and will last. Is that really so much to ask?
  4. Yes. Your mom's way is what works for me because I also have blood sugar issues, so I'm not just concerned with calories in/out, but also maintaining a healthy glucose level. But it doesn't work for everyone. If low fat works for you and you are healthy and happy with it, then stick with that and ignore everyone else. There is no one right way.
  5. Yup, I have 25 lbs of small white potatoes. I need to put them up somehow, probably freezing, as we'll never eat that many before they spoil. Potato soup? Maybe gnocchi? We don't really eat hashbrowns. Maybe a casserole? Please share recipes and ideas!
  6. I was vegetarian from 16 to about 22. I was out with friends one night and was hungry and the only thing available was chicken fingers, so I ate some and they were really good. After that I started gradually adding back in different meats. I think I was anemic or something, because I felt better after eating meat. I did not get sick.
  7. I doubt I would find it scary now, lol. I watched it on a sleepover with a friend at her family's lake house, and I think being in a strange place in the woods with people I didn't know very well made it seem a lot scarier.
  8. I found The Lost Boys terrifying when I was 10. Nothing has really compared to that since then, though I enjoy watching supernatural horror and psychological thrillers. I think the psychological ones are actually a bit scarier to me. Brotherman is 12, so old enough I guess, but he is a bit sensitive and has no interest in such things. I do think it would have been better for me as a child to have waited until I was older to see scary movies. And read scary books. Stephen King books are amazing, but seriously I did not need some of that stuff in my head in middle school. Slasher flicks are a bit too much for me, so I can't speak to those.
  9. So dark grey/blue seems to be the prevailing theme. I could see a nice slate color, with a lot of blue in it. I looked at houses while I was out doing errands and activities this evening and the ones I liked most all had dark or bold colors that contrasted nicely with the silver of the roof. The only thing that needs to be decided immediately is the trim, because the roofers are going to paint the fascia while it is exposed. So I think I will go with a nice simple white for that and then take my time going through paint samples for the house color. And we do actually need to repaint the house anyway. It has been over 10 years, and the paint is starting to chip away in places.
  10. Apparently I didn't, so I went outside and took one. But now I can't for the life of me remember how to upload it. :o
  11. Yes, just the plain unpainted galvanized metal roof. So silver/grey. I have looked at lots of pics of houses with silver metal roofs and seen several that are white, but it doesn't have much...pop? I want something with contrast I think.
  12. Our house is currently light grey with brick red trim and a dark grey shingle roof. We're replacing the old roof with a galvanized metal one. Our house needs to be painted anyway, so this seems like a good time to change the color. But I can't decide what would go well with the galvanized metal roof! I would love suggestions, and any pics you might want to share for inspiration. :bigear:
  13. i think the idea with that question is to see if you research medical stuff in general, and then more specifically if you have researched menopause. I just put the things I have done considerable research on because they affect me or a close family member directly.
  14. I'll pass along the feedback. And thanks everyone!
  15. by taking a short survey. It is for women age 35-55 and it is about menopause. Here's the survey. Thanks!
  16. There is a great deal of variation in different areas in FL. We're in west central FL, Citrus county. It is a fairly rural county, especially where I live, but it is about an hour from 3 major cities with tons to do. I rather wish we had settled closer to a good beach, but otherwise we are pretty happy here. Homeschooling is easy, the weather is nice if you don't mind heat, and much of the state is absolutely beautiful.
  17. Wish I could help but I'm in a similar position!
  18. I would just google easy standing cooldown stretches. There are lots of videos. You can probably even find some that are already organized into a little 5 minute stretching routine.
  19. Before my shower, when I'm already in the bathroom and undressed. But what time of day I shower varies depending on my schedule and the time of year.
  20. As far as I can tell her solution is that trans people shouldn't exist.
  21. I was just wondering if I should go post on the weirdness thread that I'm weird for not noticing what people are wearing or how they style their hair or their make up/lack of...I don't even know what the trends are around here.
  22. Dh pointed out another one for me. I get chilled from moving air no matter the temperature. I have actually been in a sauna and felt chilled when someone walked by me and stirred the air.
