We also use cardboard boxes instead of landscape fabric. Overlap the edges by quite a bit and you shouldn't have a lot of weeds grow through. Also we aim for 6" of mulch. It compresses and decomposes, so starting with 6" leaves usually around 3" by the time we remulch the next year. Also, we get our mulch from a local tree company. They dump a truck load for us free every year.

The only martial arts I am familiar with that don't have students bow at least to the teacher are Filipino arts. They have a salute, but no bow. I've never seen a Fililpino martial art with classes for kids that age though. The schools I've seen that train MMA styles have different classes for stand up and ground fighting, and usually at least the stand up classes involve some bowing. You might be able to only do grappling/ground classes. I don't know if they bow.

Similar for me - my cities were Jackson, Montgomery, and Columbus. I grew up mostly in Atlanta and B'ham, so fairly close. No one I meet now thinks I sound Southern because I have very little accent, but the lingo has stuck I guess.

We also love St Augustine. We can spend a full day at the beach, another day between the fort and the lighthouse, and brotherman loves the Alligator Farm. Depending on how much you enjoy history, you might enjoy a day just walking around and looking at all the historic homes and little museums tucked away in the historic district.

We are not in a secular-friendly area. There are no homeschool groups here without a statement of faith and opening prayer. So I understand the difficulty there, especially as an mostly atheist family. Also, a lot of the people I see talking about secular materials for homeschoolers mean things like SoTW or History Odyssey which are so not secular. They aren't explicitly one type of Christian, but they are definitely written from a faith based perspective. We used them anyway and talked about how everyone has implicit biases that affect their thinking. And we use public school textbooks as well. But it would be nice to find actual secular/atheist friendly materials designed for homeschooling.

I have a long torso so I can only wear high rise without being obscene. The low and even mid rise don't cover much of anything. I did see a pair of high rise shorts at target recently, but I actually found some high rise capris and pants at Rue 21 when I took my son to try on shorts. I don't normally shop there for myself, but I'm going to start if they keep carrying high rise bottoms.

True. Season 1 actually kept me up at night because it was so intense and I wasn't prepared for it. The acting was quite good though.

My recent faves have been on Netflix - The Bletchley Circle and Happy Valley. Both are rather intense British dramas.

Our hospital has an office of quality care that would investigate such a complaint. Perhaps yours has something similar.

Not TKD, but ours was separate. The testing fee was only $50 and included the test and certificate and a basic belt. The embroidery for the belt and new black uniform were both extra and optional.

I also don't blow dry my hair. It makes it super frizzy. Also it's not important to me so I don't want to spend the time. I will say when I lived in Birmingham, Alabama I got the occasional comment about how relaxing it must be to just not worry about things like that, or how I was so natural - which was Southern for "I wonder why you don't do your hair". In Florida no one cares. Of course I see people with damp hair from swimming all the time here, so it doesn't stand out at all.

There is a repair place close by that gives free estimates, so I'll try that first, but I suspect I'll be buying a new one. Is the Shark Navigator a canister? It looks like an upright in the picture.

I think the engine burned up. It just stopped after 2-3 minutes, and the casing was hot. Maybe I could have it repaired.

My basic is just salt, pepper, and garlic with olive oil. Depending on what I'm having them with I might also add rosemary and thyme, or cumin, or 5 spice powder, or curry powder. Occasionally other flavors too, something that echos what I'm using in the entree, but those are my most frequent.
