  1. Is he into video games or computer games?
  2. How about a Leatherman tool? What's your budget?
  3. Crayola makes the Crayola Light Up Tracing Pad. It costs around $15-20 and it works very well. They come in different themes, like Trolls or Star Wars, and I think there are more generic "girl" and "boy" varieties as well. Amazon sells them, but local stores like Walmart have them, too. I think Michael's might have them, and they would probably end up being the cheapest because there's always a Michaels coupon. :)
  4. No problem at all, poppy -- I didn't think you meant it as an insult! :)
  5. I hope you had a great birthday, Slache!!! :hurray:
  6. We go "hog wild" for everything involving Christmas -- decorations, food, stockings, presents -- EVERYTHING! :hurray: We also don't set a budget for Christmas, so everyone gets everything they want and then some. :) We love Christmas at our house, and while this may not be a popular sentiment, we totally embrace all of the commercialism in addition to the traditional aspects. It's fun! I'm counting down the days!
  7. Thank you!!! :hurray: I just updated the thread title and my original post with the new info.
  8. I just happened to be looking for a book for my son and the code showed up on the page, so I thought I would post it here. :)
  9. GRRRRR! That guy sounds like a real weasel!!! I can't help but wonder if the guy set up the whole thing. :glare: Thank goodness you took those photos! It's too bad you didn't call the police and have them file a report.
  10. I had almost forgotten about that! She was Church Pat of the Manor, right? (I might be a little off on the name, but I know it was something like that.)
  11. I missed it, too! I have been praying for you every day, but didn't realize you had updated the thread. I'm so glad the surgery went well. How long will it be before you find out if they got all of the cancer?
  12. LOL! I thought the church house was a little weird. The outside looked like it was still a real church, which struck me as a little odd. No one had done anything to make it seem like it was a home and not a church. There was a whole separate house in the basement, but the main floor and loft was basically an open, cavernous space. The basement part was nicely done but seemed so dark and depressing to me. The buildings the couple looked at were all so inexpensive, though -- that first auto dealership space would be a great building for someone who wanted to start a small manufacturing business without investing too much money.
  13. I was just going to answer your question, Mark, but I see that katilac beat me to it. :) It might be worth checking the prices for new books because once you use the code, the brand new book might end up being cheaper than a used copy, especially if you have Prime.
  14. NOTE: I posted this when the expiration date for the code was 12/14, but Kareni just posted that the code is now good until 12/18. Thanks, Kareni! Here's my original post with the new date: I don't know if anyone has posted this yet, but you can get $5.00 off a book purchase of $15.00 or more at Amazon.com if you enter the code BOOKGIFT17 at checkout. The offer expires on 12/18. :) You don't just have to buy one $15.00 book -- you can buy multiple books, as long as the total is $15.00 or more and you have all of them in your cart when you check out .
  15. It's a nuisance and an expense to have to pick out gifts for people you rarely see, but if you feel obligated to do it anyway, I would keep the single 38yo guy on the gift list, because sometimes it's hard to be the single adult on Christmas, when It may seem like everyone else he knows has spouses and kids of their own. It can be lonely, so knowing that Aunt SKL always remembers him with a gift card might mean a lot to him.
  16. I'm so very, very sorry, Jan. :( :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:
  17. I keep checking for updates, too, but I have to admit I'm almost afraid to do it because I'm worried about what the update might be. :crying: Still praying he will recover from this.
  18. I like the parties. They're a nice way to show appreciation for your employees or volunteers, and a fun way to celebrate the holiday season with classmates, neighbors, or fellow club members. I don't think the gift exchanges are a necessary part of the parties, though.
