  1. Ah. Ok. I have never realized that, even though office 365 is what I use every day on my desk top, lol. This is why I shouldn't be commenting in threads related to computers of any sort 😃.
  2. I guess it depends on the model or brand, but just to throw this out there....my dc's have Asus chromebooks (not sure what model) from their high school and they have office 365 installed on them. So for those that are writing off the chromebook because of that, you may want to look at the specs for the particular model your researching.
  3. So sorry to read your update. Wishing you a speedy and successful treatment.
  4. I think pride, mainly because my dd has a rainbow heart shaped pop socket and that's what it means to her. So since she got that, that is what I'll always first think. Before she had that, I think it would just depend on where/what it was and any other context clues surrounding it.
  5. No anniversary gifts here.... or birthday or Christmas either for that matter. We both basically get ourselves whatever we are needing/wanting throughout the year. So no need to spend extra money just to buy a gift. And neither of us really likes picking out gifts for others or even like receiving gifts. We do go out to eat usually, and occasionally take a short trip to a bed and breakfast or some thing like that, but it's not a big deal if there's a lot going on during that time and we do nothing. I was trying to remember if we ever did gifts, earlier in our marriage (23 years), but I can't remember for sure.
  6. Oh dear.....I need a drink just from reading your thread title. I hope it ends soon and that you have some time on the back end of the trip to relax!
  7. Thank you! I just got a text from her and she has received several emails from here. You guys are great!
  8. I'm hoping several of you would be willing to help out. My dd, a junior in college, is involved with a start-up company. Her team has gone before the entrepreneur center to "pitch" their initial plans and won a small grant. The next step is to further develop their ideas (more research, building prototype, etc). They will re-present in a couple of months for more grant money. The backers are very interested and encouraging with what they have done so far. I can't say what their innovation is, but if you (or anyone you know) has Misophonia, CAPD, ASD, or any other issues where sounds and/or background noise affect you in a negative way, she would love to talk to you via email (and possibly telephone). Please email her if you are interested with the disorder you are familiar with in the subject line. Eta: I decided to delete her contact info now that time has passed. Thank you to those who participated! They ended up with more responses than expected. Feel free to PM me for her contact info. I just wanted to delete from public view.

  10. I'm very sorry that you guys are going through such a tough time and hope that you are able to get some refreshment for yourself.
  11. I'd be comfortable with a calendar. There's something about the matching pj family that puts it over into the "odd" category for me.
  12. That seems way over the top! I was going to say that I could almost understand if it was one of those cards with multiple pictures, like where the kids are separate, and his separate pic included the gf. I personally would still think that was weird, but not quite as weird as the family picture. In our family, and most families I know, including her in in some family activities is nice, and would be expected after a while. But bringing her so close into the family seems like it would put an awful lot of pressure on the young couple.
  13. If you're hypothesis is correct about dd questioning some of your beliefs, it is possible she has sought out other opinions from others, including her aunt. If that is the case, it could be that the aunt was simply leaving it up to your dd as to who dd felt comfortable sharing her plans. I don't necessarily see this as keeping it a secret from you, but keeping the confidences of her niece. I don't think I'd be bothered, but it's heard to say for sure as I have no btdt. But since you are bothered, I'd say just mention it in a casual way to your sister and go from there.
  14. Oh gosh. That's horrible. I'm so sorry! I have not dealt with this, but I believe in any tragedy, it's best to take a day or two, but not plan more than 2. (If it turns out you need them, you can reconsider-- But don't actually plan to put life on hold for too long) I do think in this situation, I'd seek counseling for my son at the very least, and probably myself and daughter. Then, with the exception to new counseling appointments, I'd try to keep life as much to normal as possible, while still maintaining open communication with both kids. Don't pretend it didn't happen, but don't over-talk it either. All this is of course easier said than done. Just take it step by step. I'm so sorry.
