They run a sale at this time every year offering up huge discounts for what they call "generic credits" (meaning they aren't tied to a specific kid and class yet). Credits are for the 2018-2019 school year and beyond and are usable for any class for any child and are full transferable if you needed to sell them in the future. More information on that is at this link: http://landryacademy.com/live-classes/generic-semesters/ The current total cost for a credit is $390 if you don't purchase them in a group buy early. Instead of that price these credits will cost a total of $52.00 ($2 dollars towards prime membership which gives us an additional 20 percent discount bringing the price per credit down to $50). There is more information in this thread: http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/topic/622732-landry-academy-group-buy If you can think of any places to post this to get more orders please do so and link back to this thread. PM me with any questions and I will do my best to help. :)
  3. UPDATED as of 11:30am Lexi: 5 (paid) CanadianAlison: 6 (paid) Annie Laurie: 6 (paid) JadeOrchidSong: 8 (paid) Mandy_man: 2 (paid) DCBelle: 15-20 Maize: 4 GAZ: 12-16 + 2 for friend HomeschoolMom3: 4 tcb: 2 emzhengjiu: 4 Total paid: 27 Additional spoken for: 43-52 Potential total: 70-79 We are still in the catch 22 position of having a lot of people waiting until we get close to 100 paid before they pay, but we won't ever get close to 100 if everyone waits. I have posted on the Landry facebook page and I'm going to PM those who have said they are interested on this thread just to check in. I'm also waiting for a couple of messages back on Facebook to see if I can share it in other homeschool groups I am in. I hope everyone's afternoon is going awesome. I will be back this afternoon with another update.
  4. UPDATED as of 11:15pm Lexi: 5 (paid) CanadianAlison: 4 (paid) Annie Laurie: 6 (paid) DCBelle: 15-20 JadeOrchidSong: 8 Maize: 4 GAZ: 12-16 + 2 for friend HomeschoolMom3: 4 tcb: 2 emzhengjiu: 4 Mandy_man: 2 Total paid: 15 Additional spoken for: 53-62 Potential total: 68-77 I think I've responded via PM to all the questions but if I missed something let me know :) Don't forget all payments must be in by tomorrow evening if we want this price. I know some people are waiting until we are closer and that's fine but the best way for us to get closer is for more people to pay. I will refund 100% if we don't get to 100 but I think we will as we snowball along and get closer and closer :)
  5. I'll update again in a couple of hours :) I'm off to get my evening chores done and spend some time with DH now that the kids are asleep. PM me if you need me. :)
  6. Does anyone have any other groups that might have people who want in?
  7. Ooooh good catch!!! I misread that. That's great. If we go over we will just get more than 100. I can't believe how much of a discount they give on these! :)
  8. We are way higher than 30 :) UPDATED from those who posted an estimate on the thread: CanadianAlison: 2-4 DCBelle: 15-20 JadeOrchidSong: 8 Maize: 4 GAZ: 12-16 + 2 for friend HomeschoolMom3: 4 Annie Laurie: 4 Lexi: 5 tcb: 2 That's 58-69 spoken for for sure and multiple people said they'd order more if needed and that's not counting the several people who want some but didn't say how many. I'll keep a running tally of how many are spoken for and how many are paid for but it's first paid first served and if we go over 100 I can't just order extra. If people would rather wait to pay I am more than fine with that but seeing how many others are getting helps let people plan accordingly and if we leave it too long and people don't check the thread frequently we won't have all payments in in time.
  9. OK... Because we want to get this done I will post my pp address and I'll start a spreadsheet. Can you please PM me with your pp name once you have paid so I can add that to my spreadsheet (otherwise I can't match pp to username). PayPal address is amamatoboys@gmail.com I will keep a running update on here of how many have been paid for. If you know anyone who might be interested let them know. Let's get to 100 before midnight tomorrow! *EDITED* I totally forgot about paypal fees. If you send via goods there is a fee taken by paypal so the total cost per credit will be $53.86. You can verify that on this link http://thefeecalculator.com If you send via friends and family there is no fee taken (but you don't have purchase protection). I am totally fine with each person deciding which option they are comfortable with as the end result for me to send to Landry Academy will be the same so you can choose when you send.
  10. Ok. Would everyone be more comfortable if I ran the buy? I'm on mobile so I didn't even notice she had only 1 post. I am happy to do it or happy to take part if someone else is running. Let's get this set up. The total cost per credit is $52.00 I will post my pp address if I'm running it. If we don't hit 100 I will of course refund everyone. I have feedback on the baby wearer forums from bst and on eBay, all positive which I can share via pm on request if that helps.
  11. OK so payment should be made in USD so there is no exchange. If everyone pays $52 per credit it'll cover almost the entire year worth of Prime. I only need 2 credits as we will be just starting out and testing online courses by then. How close to 100 are we? How many does everyone else want? Once we have 100 committed we can send paypal. Going from those who posted an estimate on the thread: CanadianAlison: 2 DCBelle: 15-20 JadeOrchidSong: 8 FiveOaks: a few dozen Plus 4 other people (if I counted right on my small screen) said they wanted some but didn't say how many. But still we are well on our way. Especially if we make a new post if needed specifically stating a buy is open. Let's make this happen ASAP :)
  12. We need someone to run point on this. I don't mind doing it (paying through paypal) but I'm in Canada and I'm not sure if that makes any difference (it shouldn't as long as payments are sent in USD and then paid in USD, there shouldn't be any exchange loss). How close are we to 100? How can we let more people know. Should we start a separate Facebook group to discuss details?
  13. So instead of 8 courses per day for a year they do 4 courses per day and switch to 4 different ones every semester? If so it's the same number of hours per course per year just averaged out two different ways, so yes all subject matter could be covered. For what it is worth I'm in Canada and every high school I've ever encountered here does it 4 and then 4. The idea of 8 subjects for a whole year is something I didn't even realize schools did until I started posting here and so I think comfort level is based mostly on what you've been used to.
  14. That looks great! I'll talk it over with DH and see but I'm certain we'd be in for some credits if someone is running a buy.
  15. I'm not on their email list but I'd love more details from the email. We might be in for some too.
  16. You did the right thing. Many hugs to you and yours.
  17. Thanks for sharing! I'm bumping this thread so more people can see it.
  18. This is our third year of our second round of homeschooling. DS1: private PreK, homeschooled K, public school Grade 1-2, homeschooled Grade 3-this year in Grade 5 DS2: public school PreK and half of K, homeschooled second half of K-this year in Grade 2 DS3: homeschooled PreK-this year in Grade 1
  19. I had much to say but you've said it so much better than I could have. I'm the wife of an Autistic man, parenting two Autistic sons, and I have have two siblings, a niece and an uncle on the spectrum and I lean heavily on the lived experience of the Autistic adults in my life to help guide my parenting of my kids.
  20. Well that seriously sucks. We will continue to get flu shots all around this year but I am interested to read more if they figure out why the poor showing when it had been said that flumist was more effective in pediatric populations previously.
  21. We've all been battling the flu and I'm hoping today is the day we can turn the tide back to productivity. I need to: *Organize digital resources (this I've been meaning to do for ages and I really need to know what I've got before I order new curriculum) *Also sort one email inbox (my email addresses are all out of control!) *Get as much of our planned school day done as possible *Dentist *Call Dad *Call Gramma to plan a visit *Call MIL to see how SIL is healing *Set up my school planner (and maybe the boy's planners if I can get to it) *Print timeline stickers *Clean off kitchen counter and table and sweep and mop and wipe down cupboards/fronts of appliances
  22. My oldest did preschool before coming home for kindergarten and it was really good for him at the time. He was in a class with kids he already knew several of from before preschool started, which allowed him to feel at ease. He got to have time building some skills he needed and I got a bit of a breather that allowed me to take a nap with my 1 year old and newborn. The other two didn't need it but I'm not sorry at all we did it for DS1. :)
  23. I'm fairly horrified at the idea that *anyone* would think that someone starting/continuing to have sex with someone who is passed out/non responsive *for any reason*, whether or not alcohol was involved, would be ok. Yes, even if consent was given. When your partner passes out you are not owed the right to keep using their body for your pleasure. That's so unbelievably sick I can't even fathom how that sounds ok at all. Also the assumption that she would automatically consent because she gave consent earlier in the day is a false premise too. I could be ok with having tea with my DH in the morning but that doesn't mean I'm automatically going to say yes in the evening, there are tons of reasons I could say no (or yes, but neither is a given). I mean... If I misjudged my alcohol and was *passed out* drunk and DH decided to use me in that way anyway I'd be furious, and hurt and feel totally disgusted and betrayed. And that's with someone I'm happily married to, in a relationship where prioritizing the needs and wants of each other is a high priority for us. Would others really be ok with that happening to them? I think yes means yes consent is important and I think hashing out what that looks like is good. I just don't see how someone being unconscious is possibly part of a "can/did they give consent during that episode" conversation.
  24. Under 10 is at best a gray area (at worst a flat out ticket to an investigation) here with respect to CAS (our version of CPS), so for that reason alone I won't leave any of mine younger than 10. Oldest is going to be 10 next month and we have been having talks about what he is comfortable with and what we are comfortable with. If middle DS was my oldest I would have zero hesitation (he's 7.5 now and would be fine if CAS wasn't an issue), but oldest DS is my worrier to the nth degree, and I won't leave him alone if he's not confident and excited about the prospect. So sometime after his birthday we will start doing short runs but whether that's soon after or not will be up to him mostly.
