  1. Just got a text. He's going to be in the hospital for THREE TO FIVE DAYS ON ANTIBIOTICS!!!!! What kind of an infection would that be??? MRSA???? major Staph?????? I'm gobsmacked right now.
  2. Just got a call from DH. They are with-holding food. He thinks they may be considering some sort of surgery, or at least, keeping the option open. They can't get a hold of the doctor who performed the surgery, but have a call into the on-call orthopedist. He told me they are concerned about some sort of abscess. :crying:
  3. Mr. BikeMan (DH) had surgery on his ankle two weeks ago for an injury that was just recently discovered, a result of his bike accident over 2 years ago. He woke up this morning, and his ankle was at least 3x its post-surgical size, and the sutures had burst from the swelling. The incisions were oozing, and his whole foot and up half of his leg was angry red. It was obviously infected. He started throwing up. I took him to the ER (PDG has the flu on top of it all...fever of 102 -- she's sleeping on the couch now), and I'd been up since 3:00 am with her. I'm worn out already from caretaking DH for two weeks, since PDG and now I'm getting sick, I think...I don't know, maybe it's exhaustion. He's been admitted to the hospital and is on two IV antibiotics. I'm so scared about the infection. There's a woman at our church who caught an infection after a simple injury and hospital visit, and ended up in ICU for 3 weeks and rehab for over a month. Would you pray if you are so inclined? Thanks...
  4. Thanks for this! I'd like to know more about spelt as well...
  5. I just took a look at the Lush website. Looks like GREAT stuff!
  6. Sorry to be so melodramatic. Just in that sort of a mood today! My two favorite girls didn't make it, and two least favorite men did. A bit bummed. At least Casey made it. The guy is AWESOME! My DH says he reminds him of a guy who would work in an edgy alternative bike shop as a mechanic. LOL! But the guy can sing like there's no tomorrow, and has an amazingly magnetic personality. Hope he goes far. Bummed about Lauren Turner. Her voice really needed to be showcased longer. Not sure, honestly, what people see in Pia. She's good, but I don't see anything unique about her. Don't get me started on Robbie. He's a "cutie" because of his youth and personality I suppose, but...can he really sing? Seems like a fly by night to me. Brett Lowenstern (sp?), although very "different" has so much personality and charisma on top of his amazingly different voice. And he wasn't even given a second chance. :( What about you guys?
  7. Avast - free edition on our pc and we are paranoid, so we bought the Mac version for the iMac.
  8. Cadbury Mini Eggs, Caramel and Cream Eggs. And they are in stores now. DOH! :drool5: I buy 'em by the boatload at Eastertime. Unique-smelling hand soap - I know that is a weird one, but why buy "lemon" when you can buy lemon verbena bergamot? (I don't know if that exists, but doesn't it sound good?!) Lip gloss. I have at least 8 different kinds right now. I'm a rather simple person when it comes to makeup, but I love Philosophy flavored lip gloss. Bubble Gum Blowout is my current fave. Reading and writing FanFic. It's so so so much fun getting those characters that you love to do what YOU want them to do!
  9. Saw the preview last night as well. My husband was really engaged by the trailer. Am I correct in my recollection that this book was actually a "novel" originally written for NaNoWriMo??? Seems to me it was.
  10. Serenity. It's streaming on Netflix...it's really good! Wraps up quite a few loose ends.
  11. I never had even heard of Firefly until someone loaned us the series on DVD. We stayed up all night watching :tongue_smilie: I've never done that before! DH and I went out the next day and bought it!
  12. The first time they changed (5 years ago) we changed our lifestyle. We traded in our Expedition for a Subaru Outback wagon. When we moved to a temperate climate from Minot ND, he began bike commuting. He hasn't stopped. Our Subaru is our primary vehicle, and his Corolla sits in the driveway, driven perhaps 3 x a month. Of course he's driving nowadays because he had ankle surgery two weeks ago, but as soon as he gets the A-ok from his doc, he'll be back on his bike, commuting 16 miles each way to work.
  13. We have the following series on DVD, and we've watched them multiple times. On New Years we have often picked a series and done a mini-marathon (after the girls go to bed :) of course) Alias Jerico Firefly Band of Brothers The Pacific Season 1 of Fringe Various Charlie and Lola collections We have quite a few BBC costume dramas, but I don't really count them as TV series, even though I guess they are... Wish list: Doctor Who - we can watch them on Netflix and we have purchased some on iTunes, but I'd like to see the extras. Season 2 of Fringe JAG Magnum PI (oh now, now I'm going to be singing the theme song all day -- used to be my ringtone!) V when it comes out
  14. We have a rooftop old fashioned-looking digital antenna and get all the "80's stations" as we like to term it, plus a bunch of independent stations and 8 different public stations, and stream Netflix via PS3. No cable.
  15. DH and I both commented that we thought the men were pretty deep in talent. We didn't watch the prelims this year, so we don't know about the women. I saw one singer that I wanted gone right away: Robbie Rosen (sorry guy, you just can't cut it against the big boys...I think he's going to be this year's Archuletta, though... :glare:). Who do you think is gone for sure?
  16. I just read her bio. She WON Badwater. That's BEYOND EPIC. We have a video documentary about that race called "Running on the Sun."
